Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, commonly referred to simply as Tottenham or Spurs (and nicknamed The Lilywhites), are a professional football club based in Tottenham, London. The Hotspur Football Club was formed in 1882 by a group of school boys, mostly aged 13 to 14, from Tottenham Grammar School and Saint John's Middle Class School who were members of the Hotspur Cricket Club formed two years earlier. Initially, the boys that formed Hotspur Football Club played games between themselves and friendly matches against other local clubs. The team entered their first cup competition in the London Association Cup, and won their first competitive match on 17 October 1885. The club turned professional on 20 December 1895, and in the summer of 1896 they were admitted to the Division One of the Southern League. On 2 March 1898, the club also became a limited company, the Tottenham Hotspur Football and Athletic Company.

Tottenham were the first club in the 20th century to achieve the League and FA Cup Double, winning both competitions in the 1960-61 season. After successfully defending the FA Cup in 1962, in 1963 they became the first British club to win a UEFA club competition – the European Cup Winners' Cup. In 1967, Spurs won the FA Cup for a third time in the 1960s. In the 1970s Tottenham won the League Cup on two occasions and were the inaugural winner of the UEFA Cup in 1972, becoming the first British club to win two different major European trophies. In the 1980s Spurs won several trophies: the FA Cup twice, FA Community Shield and the UEFA Cup in 1984. In the 1990s the club won the FA Cup and the League Cup. When they won the League Cup once more in 2008, it meant that they had won a major trophy in each of the last six decades – an achievement only matched by Manchester United.

Tottenham supporters have rivalries with several clubs, mainly within the London area. The fiercest of these is with north London rivals Arsenal (with matches between them termed the North London derby). They also share notable rivalries with fellow London clubs Chelsea and West Ham United. Tottenham play their home games at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

I think we'll win this. Badly need Martial back for it though.

Think we will be getting zero points from these next two games. We can’t score for shit and both teams a lot better than anyone we have faced of late. Going to be one very long season on way to a top 8 finish.

Get McTominay in for Fred if Eriksen still ill, can’t watch the smiling little twerp pretending to be a footballer anymore.

As of late? We’ve played Liverpool, Arsenal and City in 3 of our last 6 league games!!
We’ve scored plenty of goals before today

This post doesn't make sense. We've been scoring loads just fine, what are you even on about. We managed to score against all of Liverpool, City and Arsenal.

A goalless draw and suddenly you want to pretend we don't score.

We haven’t been scoring loads just fine at all, we are the 11th highest scorers in the division whilst only 6 teams have conceded more. We struggled to score against those Cypriot giants in the week also after failing to score at home v Sociedad. Creating chances and taking them are two different things. If you think we are scoring for fun, good for you but I know exactly what I’m on about and our minus goals difference for most the season also paints a grim picture.

There's always a chance, but we look so poor right now I think spurs will get a result.
We don't look poor at all. Only city outplayed us since the Brentford match. We're controlling games. We're controlling territory. We're strong defensively. Getting the final 3rd sharpness and consistency is just the next step in the process. Was always going to take some time.

We need to be beating Chelsea and Spurs.
The top 3 is out for us so it's a fight for 4th with the above mentioned

Perfect game for them, really — we’re a side who really are crap when we have the lions share of possession (which they’ll give to us) and they’re a side that have some absolutely lethal players who don’t need too many chances to score (mainly Harry Kane).

We would be okay with possesion if we could finish our bleeding chances  that's where we struggle unfortunately.

13 goals in 9 Games isn't scoring loads. It's barely a little more than 1 goal/game. Overall we don't score enough tbh. Last season was the same. Finishing with 0 as GD

I don’t think we’re creating that many chances, to be honest. Omonia was a definite outlier, but our games have been a lot more balanced other than that — the xG for the game tonight shows it:

We are going to get countered badly. Ten Hag is basically going to be telling the players to watch out for the counter and we will still get countered. City last year at home when spurs countered them brilliantly.

We can win this game, and should it all depends on the finishing, Eriksen needs to play, and hopefully Martial can , the guys had bit part since season started and he's scored. Rashford needs some finishing training off someone.
And who's the ref?? And VAR? Because if the Toon game as anything to go by were not getting feck all off them.

I somewhat agree, we create a lot of half chances. But today Freds chance and Rashfords header have to be goals at this level.

We simply need to win. And win again at Chelsea. We can't be going into the World Cup break miles off the main rivals.

Time for Martial to take all the injections possible :wenger:

Sorry for being pessimistic but we ain’t winning that. Would be over the moon if we did however neither I’m confident in our ability to create chances nor in finishing them right now especially with no real striker. It’s killing us.

We’ve been proper fecked with our fixtures this season. This game and Chelsea away three days later? No chance of a simple home game then.

Antony will have a lot of space again as Romero is hyper aggressive. Hope he doesn't run into blind alleys again as he did today, he has to be more unpredictable. We cannot afford to play Ronaldo, he was good vs Spurs last year but he is a hindrance to our attack at this point.

    All that said:
    De Gea
    Dalot - Varane - Martinez - Shaw
    Casemiro
    Eriksen - Fernandes
    Antony - Rashford - Sancho

Hope Martial is fit, he adds so much to this attack.

    2-1 United.

Newcastle-Spurs-Chelsea...Nasty trio of games, all Top 6 opponents!

Drawing today puts adding pressure on the match against Spurs, but come the end of the season a point against each wouldn't be a total disaster (considering United have already beaten Liverpool and Arsenal)

Just need to keep the performance up, no mistakes or gifts and I think the attack will click (eventually)

Looking forward to a good Wednesday night match.
