We were good in the first half, Pressed as well as I've seen us, looked threatening, Cunhas ability to drive with the ball is going to be huge. Adding Mbeumo to this is exciting.
Thought Ugarte and Mainoo looked solid as well. Think we'll surprise everyone this year.

Ugarte, Mainoo, but also Dorgu and Hojlund impressed me. Maybe Hojlund can build on that first season, he already looked to build up more muscles. Sure his hold up play is missing form his skillset unfortunatelly, but it can improve with muscles and instructions, proper preseason and better player around him like CUnha and Mbeumo.
But agreed many negative posters here will be surprised. Shame the rebuild might be a bit slower if we dont make that couple of needed signings, but even then we will improve massively I think. Ugarte looked very sharp too, he as well can improve a notch with proper preseason and confidence.
The only big worry is the GK. We will inevitably lose some even games with the clowns at the back, hence why we should absolutely prioritise (the belgian) GK. Even if it means he would replace Bayindir who is a calamity waiting to happen.
Yeah I agree, despite all the pessimism and questioning around transfer targets and squad balance, I’m genuinely excited to see what Cunha, Dorgu, Bruno, Mbeumo, Amad etc can do together. And the lack of Europe could actually help us to become a more cohesive team - more time on the training pitch and more time playing with a settled starting XI. If we can start building genuine playing relationships, establishing patterns of play with those players on the same wavelength - for example partnerships developing between Cunha and Dorgu on the left and Amad and Mbeumo on the right - it will make a dramatic difference. The real frustration over the past few years is that we have looked so disjointed. The key to success is going to be learning how to attack and defend like a team once again.

Maybe very early days to be wondering this, but are we seeing signs of a change in direction in the fitness/conditioning side of things?
Feels like for years we've seen players bulk up and get slower and more sluggish the longer they're at the club, but there were signs in that game of Hojlund, Mainoo, Dorgu and one or two others looking maybe a little bit leaner and quicker off the mark than they did last year.

We played much better than most games from last season.
We need a new keeper
Defenders are still a bit static when the team is attacking leaving too much space between defenders and midfielders. One of the 3 CBs need to be be brave and join the midfielders when we press to quickly close down spaces
Midfielders whilst they were aggressive in chasing balls they were slow in getting into the box to assist the attackers. West Ham always had at least 6 players in the box each time they attacked. Could be risky but it helped them gain territorial advantage
Bruno is still losing possession unnecessarily and if Mbeumo comes in and Bruno plays in CM then our midfield will become even slower. Will be interesting to see how Amorim will setup the team.
Rasmus made good runs but his passes were awful. He just cant make good one touch passes and seems to still struggle with first touch

This is the best summary of the current issue and we cant ignore this, I really hope Ruben gets this asap and fix it.

A lot of negativity. We won, but it's only a pre season friendly. But if we had lost, the same people would be moaning.
There will probably be plenty of games to have a moan about the players, Amorim, and his system. But we were the better team against West Ham and we won.

You are bound to get this, fans will nit pick at everything. Its the first game of pre season in USA and I am sure we all wanted to see some progress.
The Leeds game was identical to last season, which was worrying, so there was going to be alot on this game.
We saw signs of improvement, some patterns of play and pressing structure. Obviously, we are going to see cracks, I would rather we see cracks in pre season so they can be rectified.
We created a few chances from our build up structure and pressing.
Amorim mentioned post game, he wants to see more longer periods of possession when we win the ball back.
Now we have to use this to improve on as the games go on.
I really don't understand our pathological desire to give the other team the ball as fast as possible.
If a forward pass isn't on and Bruno isn't yeeting it somewhere, ball gets passed slowly back to the defense who then hoof it in a random direction often nowhere near a red shirt, repeat. I know 10 subs is disruptive but the only major difference is the 2nd team were worse at getting the ball back.
