Manchester United vs West Ham (Sun 27th July, 00:00 UK time)

Can we see an attempt at some control in central midfield tonight? Something slightly more inventive Amorim please?

And please no Hojlund up front. Nothing against the guy personally but he's nowhere near good enough and it's a waste playing him when we could be experimenting with other options.

Firstly - overjoyed its tonight. Was convinced this was a Sunday night ruiner for Monday work. I'm 3 pints and half a bottle of win down too so that helps.

Couldn't give a shit about the result, but here's my hopeful bingo card:
- A bit more of Cunha turning and running
- A little bit of Mbeumo sizing defenders up
- A tease of the two above combining
- Mainoo continuing to show what he's evolving into. Long switches, midfield presence
- Dorgu showing that positive development he showed in the last game, physically dominant, charging into the area
- Yoro being Yoro
- That quick shift of the ball across defence that allows the ball to be played straight into the 10, bypassing midfield,
- a CB/WCB running into midfield with the ball to bamboozle the opposition
- More Obi - he might be ready for first rotation for the 9 based off last game, I just need to see him having an impact
- more Fletcher as well, couple things I liked last time around
- Surprise me

Are we playing on the same pitch as Everton - Bournemouth? Pitch looks really poor. Bournemouth looking pretty good.

Just panned to Cunha signing a shirt pitch side so it looks like it yeah.

I see us playing direct quick transition football this season if we want to do well. We don't have the players for possession football. Not with Bruno, Ugarte and Casemiro. Cunha and Mbeumo also work best with inshallah ball.

If we attempt playing possession football we could get relegated.

Yeah. Not ideal. I hope it's 45 mins each.

You would have thought when we do the anti-football, pro-commercial US pre-season for the thousandth time, they'd prepare/choose these pitches with the idea that actual professional football teams are going to play football on them.

Looking forward to seeing Mainoo and more of Cunha!
Interesting that Amorim said Mainoo and Ugarte could be the best midfield pair but it means playing Bruno further. Which won’t happen since we’ve signed 2 new 10s

Unless Mbuemo ends up being our striker signing I suppose.

How's he not fit enough? He didn't miss training for Brentford, did he?

New signing, which took what felt like a lifetime, second pre season game, at least stick him on the bench ffs. Just don't get this club.

Whats with managers not playing new signings right away in preseason.... it used to annoy me and it still does. If its match fitness he is after, preseason matches are just friendly matches. Its how you get match fitness!

Cunha, Bruno, Yoro and maybe Amad are up to standard, the rest are meh. We should be better than West Ham but not by much.

It would be the best thing we could do for team balance since Bruno Fernandes should be nowhere near consideration for playing in a two man midfield

It won’t be but I wish it was Bruno at 10 behind Cunha & Hojlund in a 352

When did he say that?

If so, must mean we aren’t going to sign a new striker.

Guess he has to also hide our team from EPL teams scouting for weaknesses for our early fixtures next month etc. Don't put everything on show at once, keep some hidden, considering we have just signed two big impact players that will transform our style completely.

Interested to see that Mainoo-Ugarte midfield partnership. And Bruno as one of the number 10s.

I don’t think that’s the end of the world as long as it’s a change to a 352 than the 343.

Bruno just ahead of Mainoo & Ugarte with Mbeumo & Cunha front two.
