Wigan Athletic Football Club (nicknamed The Latics) are a professional football club based in Wigan, Greater Manchester. They were formed in 1932, following the winding up of Wigan Borough the previous year. Wigan Athletic was the fifth attempt to create a stable football club in the town following the demise of Wigan County, Wigan United, Wigan Town, and Wigan Borough. Springfield Park, the former home of Wigan Borough, was purchased by the club for £2,850. Despite their initial application being turned down, Wigan Athletic were elected into the Chesire County League following the resignation of Manchester Central. Wigan's primary rivals include Chorley, Bolton Wanderers, Blackburn Rovers, Preston North End and Bury. They have been playing their home games at The DW Stadium (called Wigan Athletic Stadium in UEFA matches) since 1999.

I would quite honestly drop most of the lads who just put that half-hearted arse of a shift in.

    Bailly
    Jones
    Shaw

    Blind or Fellaini
    Herrera

We'll find a way to make this game more of a competition than it should be, would not even be shocked to see them get a win against us given the way we don't seem to give a shit about any game we play in lately.

I’d like to see Tuanzebe instead of Blind though, as well as TFM in the place of Basti.

Considering how much the players played today, I'm going for an almost completely different team. Martial to start hopefully.

We should win this comfortably even with a few rested.

Id rest Pogba, Zlatan and maybe Herrera.

Dropping most of the players because of the way they played tonight is no way to manage your team. We're not playing football manager here, this is real life.

You rip your core out and you lose all momentum and balance, and Wigan get a genuine chance against us. Rest 3 or 4 but changing 8 or 9 is silly.

You can bet your ass Pogba will start again.
In fairness he was benched for the FA Cup game against Reading. Only games he's not started in are that, the Northampton game and the League Cup game against West Ham. He could be rested again though with him only being rested a few games ago its hard to say.

This is the kind of game there could be 7-9 changes in. After the West Ham league game 9 changes were made for the game against Reading then 7 more for the first leg against Hull.

Thankfully some of those changes will be people like Valencia, Mata, Miki and Martial which isn't too bad

It’s just that both Carrick and Herrera played 90mins today as well, so we’re lacking options really, and he as a physical beast is the most likely one out of those three to play. Hopefully Basti, Blind of TFM gets the nod though.

Think TFM will be on bench and Blind will start (at LB). With everyone fit can't really think of a reason why Bastian would get into our 18 now.

Well it’s hard to find a partner for Fellaini. We’ve got 3 matches in 6 days and we need Carrick, Herrera & Pogba for Wednesday, it won’t be an easy match. So in my opinion there’s a need for either TFM or Basti on midfield. Then again, Mourinho doesn’t rotate that much so it’s likely either Herrera or Pogba beside Felli on Sunday.

Just looked and, when available, Pogba has only failed to start one game that Fellaini started:

That was the FA Cup game against Reading.

PP has played too much, really hope he gets a rest on Sunday, let him fly home to France or whatever. Cheers for the appearance stats, quality stuff!

Thanks. I hope he does too. He's used to playing this amount of games at Juve though and apart from when he had a hamstring injury a couple of seasons ago he's been fit. Don't know how he does it.

Would it be too much to ask for a left hand side of Martial and Shaw? Probably would wouldn't it. If it was me picking the team here's what i'd go for

    Romero
    Valencia Jones Rojo Shaw
    Herrera Schweinsteiger
    Miki Mata Martial
    Rashford.

That won't be it tho, Rooney will almost certainly start, in place of Martial most likely and Fellaini for Basti

Sunday to Wednesday for the next league match against hull.

I'd still rest Pogba, Herrera, Ibra.

Valencia should start this and the league match.

    Maybe something like this

    Rashford
    Martial - Rooney - Mata
    Fellaini - TFM
    Shaw - Blind - Smalling - Valencia

Pretty much a bummer that Young seems to be getting the ‘not even the bench’ treatment during transfer month. Would be nice to rest Valencia once more, since we'll have Hull (h) again and Leicester (a) in less than a week. Don't think Mourinho sees Fosu-Mensah as a right-wing option anymore. Even Bailly has a better chance there.
