It looks like George is nearly out the door, so it might have been her. The fact that Terland still hasn't signed a contract is also worrisome. From the Athletic article. Going from the dates I wrote above that would, you'd think, have to be either Terland or Toone...
Not such a positive picture now is itIt looks like George is nearly out the door, so it might have been her. The fact that Terland still hasn't signed a contract is also worrisome.
Two players I've been thinking about are Rolfo and Schuller. I doubt either would have signed with us had they known that the club was going to suddenly give up trying to seriously compete and focus instead on youth development. It wouldn't surprise me if either or both of them left quickly.

Haha! I had a feeling I might hear from you with some kind of "I told you so" post. Not such a positive picture now is it

Yes, my optimism has been shattered by recent events, although I still think we can be competitive next year IF we don't lose any other top players and IF we sign at least a couple more players in this window as promised by the club. Those are both big IFs, though.
I don't think this is the case. We have "star" players. PTJ, Toone, Park, Maya, Riviere. Rolfo ... etc. We even have the Welsh international keeper who rarely gets a game. I really feel you are being overly negative. The developing our youth thing is just rubbish to cover the fact that they don't want to spend on the team. I know that Skinner didn't do it but there are a lot of coaches who develop youth whilst also having Star players in the team. Women's football is very heavily dependent on quality of top players you have and if we don't spend much then it will show pretty soon. I used to mock Liverpool for being at the top of the league in the men's game and then completely ignoring their women's team over the last decade and now we are following the same path.
Losing good players does not necessarily weaken you. Buying expensive players does not necessarily improve you. I am frustrated with the entire situation, but also optimistic.Well I don't think that it's about being overly negative. We had all those players last year and finished 9 points behind third place Chelsea. I feel that all the teams above us have improved and even LCL & Spurs seem stronger than before. We have not done anything to improve and have lost Malard as well.
We were running second through much of last season despite all the extra matches due to CL (and CL qualifying). We just ran out of gas going down the stretch, which was inevitable given our lack of depth (plus a rash of injuries). I honestly think we could have finished top-three if we weren't playing in the CL.Well I don't think that it's about being overly negative. That’s disappointing. I thought she played quite well when she got a chance.
I see her more as a CB. Anyway, not much we can do about it.She’s not mobile enough to be a LB in my opinion and had some poor performances, especially in the UWCL. She might’ve had a role as the LCB if that’s what Olid will use, but I guess all that came too late for Gabby.
I also see her more as a CB and as Turner had gone, and our new manager has played 3 at the back at Hearts... You would have thought she'd be quite ideal to play left CB of the 3. Now we have just Le Tissier, Janssen, Medina who has only played CB in a 3 and reportedly we will sign another CB. But even then if we played the same formation our new manager played before we'd have just 1 backup CB
And Lucy Newell, a promising CB who just got called to England U20s.
She started 3 games in the WSL2 on loan and didnt do that well. I saw one of the matches and she was slow to engage the attacker letting them score one of their goals. I think shes best off going on loan to WSL2 again because shes young and will hopefully fare better a year older. I'm fine with giving youngsters the chance but if they're struggling in WSL2 its tough to see them coming straight into our first team and doing decently. So even as an emergency backup itd be tough if we need to use her
Not all our rivals are having fun this close season.
Not a surprise that Kerolin finds Barcelona an option too good to miss.
