Injury issues, Roma could do with selling him for money reasons, and he's looked pretty ordinary in Serie A.

Yeah Tielemans was sorted by the time we got any news and Santos was done within 2/3 days of first hearing about it, however Kone’s name has been floating for a little while now, hence why I don’t think he’s on the same level of priority as those two were, unless for some reason negotiations with Roma have accidentally become more common knowledge than all our other signings so far this summer.
Kone seems like a headfake to shake Baleba loose. We shall see, but if in the end it's Kone I actually think he'd be a very decent CM to have in the rotation.

Wouldn't say we are less technical than Arsenal: Rice and Zubamendi or whoever they play next to Rice, but the physicality of Rice is a big bonus
Liverpool: Gravenberch, Szobozlai - certainly not more technical - more physical
Chelsea: Enzo and Caicedo - again, not more technical but surely more physical
City: Elliot and Rodri? Elliot isn't more technical than Mainoo, quite the opposite, and Rodri is one of the best in the world - very technical, probably better than Tielemans, and although not blistering pace, very strong in duels. Tie probably, but more physical to City
AV: we robbed them of their best in Tielemans, and Onana is good when fit, but more physical than technical.
Not sure which clubs are standout better technically than United at this stage? I think physicality seems to be the bigger factor that we ultimately lack. Mainoo isn't fast nor is Tielemans, albeit a slight upgrade on Casemiro.
With Cunha, Bruno and Amad, I think we also have a very good technical and creative attack behind Sesko who is, OK. To me, speed and physicality seem to be where we struggle.
Is it weird that no one else seem to be in for Kone ? Liverpool, Arsenal, etc were all looking for CMs.
He has been linked to Arsenal and Chelsea as much as he has to us. I believe Arsenal view him as an alternative target if they don't end up with Bruno G, not sure how he fits Chelsea but that applies to most of their signings so who knows. I get the impression he is everybodys fallback plan so he will likely end up in the PL by the start of the season but it is anyones guess which club pulls the trigger for him.

Lo9king at the injury record thats all he could be. He is a good player, better than Ederson and better than santos currently. Outside baleba, tchouameni, camavinga, bouaddi he was dm i wanted start of window. Hes very good ball carrying...but that injury records put me off personally, same with camavinga..otherwise they would be starters. Form of baleba people criticise (overly for me), but signing a midfielder only available half the time for dm big no, we have too many big players like that already

Tchouameni, Camavinga, Bouaddi are well above Kone and Baleba for me. And given the choice, I'd likely take Bouaddi.... i'm a huge fan but would likely be better off with the grit of the RM mids to replace Casemiro's presence.

I would feel more comfortable with Berge given he’s Prem proven and plays as a sitting defensive midfielder.

A DM is the profile of midfielder we don’t have yet though, and it’s been widely reported that’s the kind of 3rd mid we’re after
We don't have an industrious box to box type, and I'm not sure that's true as we've been linked to the likes of Camavinga and Kone.
