Was only on a short time. He was doing his best to get Bournemouth a goal. Gave away a cheap free kick followed by a cheap corner.

I know he’s bad, but he wasn’t this bad in his first month or two. Wasn’t he one of the best in Europe for winning the ball back?

We need to sell him and get a third midfielder in the summer.

He's like a black hole.

A liability for us and clear he only gets on because Carrick has nobody else to use.

Ugarte's confidence is shot, plus he's already thinking about his next move. He's checked out and I feel he knows he's just not up to it regardless, which makes it easier to switch off in self preservation mode.

Yeah just an absolutely wasted spot right now. Fletcher or literally any other youth cm prob offers more right now.

Manuel will prove his worth eventually: next season. There's a Bernabeu MoTM performance in his future for us.

I'd question Carrick not putting in Fletcher or literally any other player. He's absolutely atrocious

His technique is so poor along with his passing. We will do well to get a fee for him.

The Antithesis of a United footballer. Looks petrified any time he has to touch the ball, nervous in any big moment, and only at home when he’s kicking shins and fouling people. I couldn’t dislike him as a player any more.

That break at the end when he was just meekly running with the ball begging Bruno to take the ball off of him while Sesko was charging on a diagonal run did my head in

Thought it was funny Mitten mentioned he was the first player home from training.

The result almost always gets worse when he comes on so we did very well to escape with a point tonight. Not that Ugarte wasn't doing his best to throw it away. Letting the Bournemouth player goal side and fouling him to give them a free kick in the last minute sums up how utterly brainless he is.

We should never have signed him. PSG wanted rid of him for reasons that should have made him unattractive to us. We continually bail clubs out of their holes but we rarely get the same for us.

Problem with Ugarte now is that he is so crap, he doesn't get minutes but there are occasions where we need him to get minutes... but because he gets no minutes he is rusty and even more of a liability.

He is not good enough but we have also handled squad rotation poorly as you can see with Ugarte and Malacia coming on against Newcastle in some humiliation ritual before going back to being non-existent. I hope our next permanent manager learns how to rotate effectively like Fergie did. Fergie was able to make every member of the squad feel important and like he relied upon them, he never froze people out and then all of a sudden just chucked them into a game at a vital time.

Malacia is barely a professional footballer. Heaven should have clearly come on instead.

Given we have had the fewest games for 100 years this season, I don’t think you can make too many conclusions from squad rotation. In every other season, fringe players would have got more opportunities.

Just making up the numbers at this point, collecting his pay and going home.

He doesn't want to be here and the club don't him either. He'll be gone in the summer but most players offer you a something when they're in these positions, even if its a glimpse. With this guy there's absolutely not a single thing he brings to the table in any capacity.

I think he needs a run of 8-10 games, which he won’t get this season (or next tbh). I think there’s a player there. If there were games where we’d need a ‘Park on Pirlo’ a la 2009 vs Milan, he’d do that job excellently.

You’re seeing more than PSG or our managers or most fans are, then.

He’s a player for the 00’s when dogged harrassers were in plentiful supply. That’s his game and he’s kind of lost without that role, especially when expected to simply play.

Why does he play? What does he do, other than fouling and losing the ball?

only at home when he’s kicking shins and fouling people

He's committed the second most 'fouls per 90' out of CMs in the PL this season.

Third most is... Joao Gomes - who many on here are very keen on for some reason.

I keep saying I hope everyone involved in his signing is no longer at the club. Amateur scouts raised serious concerns before he signed. I can't believe professionals deemed him fit for £50m.

Confidence is a big issue when you’re not playing. There was a situation where Sesko kept calling for the ball and made a run - but Ugarte was too scared/unable to play the ball to him, and played a safe pass to Bruno instead (by that time Sesko was offside after making the run).

He's not a child. If he doesn't back himself to pass to his teammates then he's not good enough to be playing, confidence isn't someone else's job to find for him.

Man Utd 1:2 Leeds United New
Goodbye Ugarte. Can’t think of one memorable thing you’ve done

He's got a curse I think. Was far from the worse player for us but we just go to shit with him in there

It was incredible there were still a few people on here prior to this game who weren't convinced Ugarte absolutely needed to be sold.

Is there anyone of that persuasion left now?

Terrible.

An empty shirt really, his only real contribution is to foul people and look sulky for 90 mins.

Lose pretty much every game he starts in for quite a time. Pretty memorable
Not in a positive way though. Remarkable considering his status, the clubs he’s played for. Even Schneiderlin probably had more moments than him

I think maybe it's on his coaches here. On the evidence of today he's actually a passable CB. He's a fecking shite DM. And on the evidence of quite a while now, I think Martinez is a DM in England not a CB. Can't ball, can tackle Vs can ball, can't head. The switch might have been hiding in plain sight.

3 tackles, 2 interceptions - plenty of ball winning

But he just doesnt offer enough with the ball. He has the ability on the ball of another CB. So unfortunately the ball winning alone isnt enough
