Beckham got to atone for it because he had the balls to stand up and be counted. The club have protected Rashford through the good times and the bad until it's reached the stage where the penny has finally dropped that he's just not worth it. This isn't on the club. It's totally on Rashford with his attitude especially on the pitch.

All football fans want to see from their players is the effort being put in. Rashford falls way short in that regard which is why he's being singled out on social media. If Rashford had the same balls as Beckham or even Maguire then he could quite easily turn things around but as that doesn't seem to be in his dna then I think it's best for all involved that he moves on.

This goes back to what I was saying earlier, not sure if it was to you nor not. It's not like Rashford has not had periods of successfully fighting adversity - it's just that now, for whatever reason, he's done.

The narrative on page after page on here isn't the truth: that he has had repeated periods of abuse and fought back from them and now seems to have just given up. Again, I don't know if this is true in general. He was an elite prospect who, by all accounts, had a great attitude but I guess mentally he does seem checked out the last couple of seasons. I remember some articles a while back at how he'd lost focus when he broke up with his missus and started seeking out the limelight a bit more. He will be missed, I enjoyed watching him for many years and hoped he could kick on/recover but post shoulder surgery he's just not the same. The team will be better off without him but I think a large section of the fanbase will miss him.

As said if he were a player today, he’d be the most followed English player without doubt but he is nearly 50.
