Look at it this way. It's been about 2 months iirc since Rashford last played a single minute for us. Yet he trains every day and is usually at games, in the crowd because he's not even part of the squad. That's about 2 months of him at least showing up to training while having no hope whatsoever of playing a single minute or even getting in the squad. He was sat on the bench watching us get battered by Newcastle at Old Trafford. He looked miserable tbh.
Now in these 2 months of almost constant criticism by Amorim, are we supposed to believe that not once has he trained up to the expected standard?
I find that hard to believe because Højlund must be prime Ibrahimovic in training but that's not what we see on the pitch. Either way this saga is dragging on for too long, and Amorim is actually dropping Rashford's market value with comments like that. I'd be very interested in seeing what the club does if we they can't send him out before the window closes, 6 months or more of exclusion from the team? Will they try to still sell him after that? The whole situation is a mess.
It's not about being prime Ibrahimovic in training though. It's simply about putting in the effort, which clearly Rashford isn't doing.
Nobody is arguing Hojlund or Zirkzee have been good, they've both been awful, but at least they work hard and give it 100%
We've all seen countless examples of Rashford walking around the pitch, ducking out of 50/50 challenges and just generally being lazy. It's not hard to imagine he's being lazy in training either.
