I always wonder how a figure like 200k a week equals a player still motivated but 300k breaks the player. How is it decided what level of ridiculous money equates to a lack of purpose.

It doesn't. Salah performed the same on 150, 250, 380k a week. It up to the player, not the club or the money.

If the stars align and we do win the EL, getting rid of this grifter will be almost impossible. His wages go up 25% and no way will he go without a huge payoff - the bloke can’t lose in any situation right now.
Someone posted earlier that Rashford can be world class. I’d love to know when they seem that regularly in a United shirt. The odd glimpse of class doesn’t make a player WC.
True, but I think Amorim and the board would be upfront and tell him he has to earn his place back to get playing time. It's right before the world cup, he wants to play, if he gets benched again or pushed off to the sidelines he'll easily miss out on being called up. The world cup is really important to him so I can see him either leaving or accepting what Amorim wants if he can't get a move away

He missed the Euros because he couldnt be arsed I dont think the world Cup will be any different.

I don’t see that with Rashford anymore. Look at his public profile now: the way he dresses, acts (car parking is a classic one), he is not driven by football as much as we would like for the money. He will take a big wage at United and revert back to lacklustre training and effort - guaranteed. Win the EL and we are stuck with him, Sancho and possibly Antony due to their wages.

We’re stuck with these spoiled brats, Rashford and Sancho, regardless of whether we win the EL.

Not sure what the issue is here. He’s entitled to a personal life. What is he meant to do, mourn from home? This fight has been arranged for ages. Unless there is some curfew from the club, this isn’t an issue.
#fitthenarrative

I don't see the issue. He was at Wembley for the match then went to the boxing afterwards. He is genuinely injured. Of course we know why he's been targeted.

This whole agenda thing is pathetic. Even the likes of Sky Sports are cashing in on it (I'm looking at you Jamie o Hara).

Every Villa game and there's a group of fans convincing themselves that he's not that good. Like a dumped guy Facebook stalking their ex. Living rent free in their heads.

Will probably pull a Lindelof and be fit again the day after the transfer window closes.

Aye United 101

Mount and Shaw will need to pick up an injury pretty quickly (which won't be a challenge for either)

Zirkzee might have gone a bit early with his, but all of them should be safe for another season living off the united gravy train.

Apologies for the miserable post...it's been a long season!

Villa got knocked out of the Champions League so he probably can't be assed.

I'm sure Rashford wore Louis Vuitton & managed to sleep with some of these supporters partner's.

Good thing is I would say his stock is quite high with recent performances and media attention. Lets hope its enough to get someone to bite.
I wouldn't say it's high. No real notable performances, a few goals (half of them against Preston) and assists and most importantly he doesn't have 90 minutes in him anymore (one full game in 17 for Villa, 4 in 24 for us) and he ends the loan with an injury. Teams aren't going to splash out for a player who can't play a full 90.

Decent chance him and the freedom fighter are eating up almost £600,000 a week in wages here next season.

Oh god, we're really back on about his oversized LV hoodie again.

I have my doubts anything has changed for Marcus. He was never going to settle down in Birmingham. He wants a bigger name club and a party scene worthy of his credentials. But as it stands now I just can't see which big name club comes in for him and agrees to his 300k/week wages or anywhere close to that. Maybe a Saudi club, but the party scene in Saudi Arabia just isn't what it is in big European cities.

I don't think it's going to happen, but I suspect he's hoping that Amorim gets the sack (or agrees to leave by mutual consent) and start his career over at Old Trafford with a new manager.

Agreed, there is no way he goes to Saudi, it will not suit his lifestyle.

There is no European club that will give him 300k a week, he is just not that good. Most clubs now look for attackers who fit the profile and want players who are committed and track back. We can see the impact of players not tracking at Madrid, you excuse that if your name is Mbappe but not Rashford.

He needs to find a club that will pay what he wants or he will be on the bench if that at United.

Incredibly bad timing for him. From the sounds from some of you, he was only a couple of performances away from the Ballon d’Or.

It's going to be the latter, as there is no club that will agree to the wages that he demands and I really don't see any club agreeing to paying him 150k/week, let alone 300k/week.

He sees himself as having leverage to force a move, but he really doesn't absent a climbdown to around 100k/week and moving to a smaller club like Spurs.

It's going to be a hard summer for him, finding out the hard what all of us here already know.

You would be surprised how much delusion actually exists in a players mind.

He thought Villa was beneath him and was forcing a move to Barca, when they were not really interested.

Now, he has seen some positive headlines for basically the same performances, he probably is thinking he can get better than Aston Villa again.

I'm sure I would be surprised at the extreme delusion of players like Rashford, who have been repeatedly told for years how magnificent they are. And compared to the let's say 125,000 (123,694 according to AI) registered professional footballers on the planet right now Marcus Rashford definitely is still in the top quarter of those 125,000. But it's easy enough in his mind to justify his fall from grace over the last three years on everyone else but himself.

I happen to believe there still is an outstanding footballer in his boots, but he's got to get a grip on himself -- which is not a sure thing to happen. No top club will take him on as a project at his current wages. And if he comes back to Old Trafford, is he willing to work to reclaim his prior form and status? I have no idea.

The second Sancho put on a blue jersey, the media praised everything he did (until he stopped doing things)

It's remarkable how so many of our posters have such deep insight into Rashford's thoughts.

Emery suggesting Rashford could be out for the rest of the season. 17 games 4 goals and 6 assists for Aston Villa isn't bad going. Although not sure it is enough to make up for a year and a half of terrible form for us.

We are all counting on getting a good amount of pure profit selling Rashford this summer. But I am not seeing it. His wage demands are going to screw us over.

The few big clubs that can afford his wages e.g. PSG, Barcelona are unlikely to want to pay them as they likely see him as a squad rotation player. So we'd need Rashford to be prepared to take a significant pay cut. And the same is true for more realistic destinations such as Villa or the big Italian clubs.

Problem is that he has us over a barrel. He's burnt bridges with us. He knows we need the pure profit. He's under contract until summer 2028. So he has a lot of leverage to extract a huge payoff from us which will massively eat into any profit on any sale. And of course it will never ever enter his deluded mind that his bad attitude and poor performances are the reason no one is stupid enough to pay him £350k a week.

No and Feck No.

Good god yes.

Apparently he's a stroppy diva with an arrogant attitude

Weird how when he was seen at the boxing, United fans were in uproar and the Villa fans just didn't care. They treated him like any other player.

It's like he has a weird Facebook stalker except there's hundreds of them and they reside on football forums and Twitter instead. I've never been this obsessed with one person without wanting to have sex with them.

It's so weird

Rashford is a good example of how things are judged through the Utd lense though.

His form at Villa is no different to what he was producing at Utd this season.

From what he's produced so far unless Villa make it into the CL it's hard to see them taking up the option clause in his deal and putting him on anywhere near the salary he has at Utd. Even if they take the option I can see Utd having to pay him up a full year of his contract as a settlement.

It's also unlikely that other clubs who might be able to afford £40m and a decent contract are going to come to us with offers.

Him coming back would face Amorim with a similar problem ETH had where he's got a player who he doesn't want to work with sucking up a huge chunk of his first team budget.

I'm in such a weird position w/r to Rashford. I'm supportive of Amorim/INEOS vision, agree that he needs to leave given his contribution and (apparent?) attitude in training. And that a loan to Villa was probably the best thing to do in Jan.

However, with our most important match of the season this evening, I also seriously wish we had him as an option, especially with these opponents.

I want Gykores first but if not why not a swap with Oshimen? Both clubs want the players out. Both players are on 300+ in wages. Napoli need kvaratskhelia replacement. I think Rashford would be happy and do brilliant in Italy. Makes sense to me

Outside of his poor form for the last year i think one of the other main reason he's being shipped out is the huge wage. Don't think the powers that be are going to be happy with getting rid of 1 huge wage and non football related potential problem player and picking up another player that seems to have all the same trademarks.

Well, they are as fkd as us, more so because Oshimen has one year left on his contract. If the Saudis don't stump up cash, then who will pay 300+ a week plus the quoted 60+ mill they want? The fact that he is in Galatasary says a lot. They will probably have to lose him on a free next year.
Rashford would be a beast for them and much less hassle than Oshimen.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat.

Although knowing that he's hamstrung ,so can't play anyway, leaves me feeling less conflicted.

The why would they take on a player on similar massive wages? We have valued Rashford at a more reasonable price of £40m, and that’s in large part due to his wages, Napoli may have to significantly reduce their ask as well.

Far fewer clubs able to throw around £300k p/w wages than there was.
