Marcus Rashford | 2026/27 Performances

Most disappointing news this transfer window and that's saying a lot. I was hoping to never see him in a United shirt again and I suspect his presence will not be a positive influence inside the dressing room. Furthermore, he is a very shit striker and we have enough people in his best position. Retreading old ground seems to be the theme this summer.
+1 Very well said

The great thing is we're not overly reliant on him now. He's got competition for his spot if he wants to get back into the side. If he wants his place, he needs to earn it. That wasn't the case a couple of seasons back.
Unfortunately he is still highest-paid player in the club, while being far from highest talent, highest ability, or highest performer

Whether Carrick will have balls to bench him and only use him as a "super sub" given his salary and media pressure, is a huge question

Has a player ever left his club for 18 months on loan and returned to claim his spot?

If he stays, he shouldn't be anything more than a 3rd choice LW and a 5th choice striker.

I still think someone will come in for him before the window closes though.

That’s my hope too. The question is who would do it. If he still thinks he’s up there with the very best playing Champions League football, he’s somewhat restricted after Barcelona spent double the money they would have paid for him to have him outright on Anthony Gordon.

Bayern maybe? Back to Villa? (a spot has opened up there since Rogers left and Emery is still there)

Rashford’s wages will be a stumbling block for any club keen on taking a punt.

Saudi would be a great destination should Rashford want a final windfall

I think the whole world is aware that United regret the decision to give Rashford the wage they did. They’ve done everything they can to move him on but haven’t been able to find a suitor.

I don’t think his wage will affect anything when he’s back. This idea that players will be looking at him sitting on the bench earning more than they are and this will cause unrest is surely nonsense. Everyone knows his contract is a relic of an older regime which we’re moving away from. I can’t see Carrick feeling pressure to start him simply because he’s a high earner on an old contract.

Now, I’m not saying Rashford won’t cause any issues. If he’s leaking team news, leaking complaints to the press, not working hard enough when he on the pitch, those things can obviously cause unrest in a dressing room that looks pretty cohesive without him.

So I’m hoping he won’t cause trouble, but I really don’t think his wage alone causes any unrest.

Some players just response to the right coach/manager. I really think Rashford will respond well to Carrick, because they worked well before when Carrick was a coach under Ole, and i’ve seen players like Casemiro and Martinez, players with strong personalities, only had good words about Carrick and how Carrick understand them.

And he’s not a bad player. Definitely it’s better to have him in the squad than having inexperienced youth. With the caveat of giving him a subs role, instead of starter.

Rashford will be great to have when we need a goal, and will no doubt bag some big goals if he stays - but he can’t be trusted to start often or play long periods. He just doesn’t work hard enough and gaps will pop up all over, Uncle Shaw will be absolutely knackered

Yeah. He’d add some quality in our bench, especially as subs in those last 15-20 minutes.

Will he be the first ever player to win La Liga then the Premier League the following season?

Can't think of anyone

I think he has some good uses up top against the bigger opponents, like we saw at Villa in the Champions League.

We need to just see how it goes, before laying judgement on whether his tracking-back, decision making, etc has changed.

If they haven't, he's a certain player that can only be used as an impact sub or against big opponents where he'd be good on the counter.

Not a big fan of all his bandana dreadlocks stuff. Reminds me a bit of someone like Memphis or Lingard who wants to be in focus. Just focus on the football and the team, please.

Can we just dead this? It says nothing about him and really makes me wonder what you see when you see someone presented like this? Like me for example? Or my kids? Just dead it...

The hatred some have for Rashford is visceral, huh.

He performed so well at Barca that they decided to bin him and sign Antony Gordon for close to 3x his fee as well as Adeyemi in his position.

He performed so well that most of their fans called him lazy bastard who looks like he does not give a shit and were relieved to see the back of him.

Where is this myth that he was great for Barcelona is coming from? He was a bench option, that they decided is not worth it to pursue even at a cut price, even at a lower wage as he was desperate to join them. No other club in Europe is coming for his services either.

Good thing he is buddies with Carrick so we can hope that when given a chance he "will show what he is capable off" under the 6th manager while he is here.
I never saw him play for Barca on tv, but was going on his stats. Stats said 13 goals and 10 assists altogether. Not bad for a LW. Saying that I want to say I think the club is foolish to have him back. They are going to be paying 2 seasons worth of wages. I would sell for £15 mill and save the wage. Probably a £40 mill+ save

Who cares what he wears on his head or what kind of hairstyle he has? It's irrelevant.

1+4=5
5 times

1 for shitting against Arsenal in his debut season
1 for knocking out PSG in CL
1 for knocking himself out of Ruben squad
1 for winning La Liga
1 for returning back to his homeland
Wow, impressive, and all for a decent cost of only 1.4m a month.

What gives you that indication? He was not good in his last season here, not good enoug for Villa or Barca. You might believe in miracles but the past 3 years indicate nothing like that

Huh? He doesn't even have dreadlocks? Neither did Lingard. And even if he did, what's that got to do with his professionalism? What a weird take.

What did I say to warrant this response ? I’ve suggested quite the opposite of Rashford turning the page and becoming a miracle

It's not a ridiculous post, Rashford could quite easily do an Isak, and refuse to train etc, he hasn't.
Were you with him to determine how much he drank during his holiday?
He looked in very good shape at the WC so think he's entitled to a day off during his time off.
Embarrassing at times the viewpoint on here.
Isak did this when there was a concrete offer for him on the table. The same thing Berba did at Spurs. Why would Rashford do the same when there's nobody willing to buy him?

I’ve never heard of banana dreadlocks, I sincerely hope you haven’t just made that up

Pique did it the other way around. Diego Costa/Felipe Luis/Courtois won it with Atletico and Chelsea back to back

So many people in this thread essentially saying: "as a toxic member of the United fanbase, I'm worried about the circus that's going to be created by us toxic members of the United fanbase"

Why? I’m sure it makes some people feel good about the fact that they can embrace every sort of off field stuff and that it’s nice to be able to say to yourself: “He can both have focus on his hair/appearance/stylish choices and on football at the same time”.

For me that’s a feelgood thing people say so they can feel more tolerant, but who cares about everything else than football? That’s his job and what we want him to do.

Why not be critical of it? Look at the players with similar interests for being flashy (it’s not just his haircut to me). Is that really where one’s head should be at? For me a lot of his stylish choices has also happened while being a bad player and having focus elsewhere. There’s a lot of “look at me” with the way he and previous bad players have dressed and I can’t think of many succesful ones that combined it with focus on the team.

I’m sure we can both pick players that suits our agenda, but I’m so glad we got rid of Lingard, Pogba, Memphis, etc that had a lot of focus on non-football stuff where it was just as important to “look like a baller” instead of actually being one.

As a bench option it's fine. He should be nowhere near our starting line up bar Injuries though

Well it sounds an awful lot like you care about his hairstyle.

I'm getting Abe Simpson vibes from your post. "Theo Walcott at Arsenal. Now that's a haircut you can set your watch to".

That you think he will score important goals or save us big time.
I didn’t say he’ll save us big time. Genuinely baffled here. He’ll be a player we throw on when we need a goal - that is just a fact if he’s staying.

Except that is modus operandi in these circumstances is to brief his friends in the press and make noise. If he was prepared to knuckle down and do what the the manager wanted he wouldn't have been exiled in the first place.
It's not really, that's what clueless people with agendas like to think on the Cafe,
