Marcus Rashford | 2026/27 Performances

Yes, when we did break, they swarmed players and turned the ball back over, or we thumped it aimlessly long.

Wingers were tracking back as well, doubling up. The only joy we got was winning it high, something Rashford wouldn't do and others weren't able to do again.
You won't hear any arguments from me about hooking Kane.

Provided you can find him and defend, which we couldn't. If the plan was to defend, win the ball back and break quick with Rashford, there's a lot that needs to happen before Rashford gets involved and we weren't doing any of it well.

You’ve literally provided a video where our AM breaks out, and has absolutely no-one anywhere near him to pass to. Not a single player stays with him or breaks beyond him.
Kane doesn’t even pretend to run and the other player in the picture is a fecking full back who also makes zero effort to give Jude an outball or take any Argentina player away

Argentina can swarm him because they have absolutely no-one else to worry about. That’s the whole point, a fresh Saka and fresh Rashford there absolutely give them massive problems and prevent 5 players from swarming our one.

One assist, put another on a plate for the lump Toney to completely miskick. 90% pass accuracy. A couple of excellent dribbles.

Weird time to moan.
Had a chance to put someone through, can't recall who instead decided on a stupid shot from 35 years out.

He's an utter waste of space and the sooner it's get rid of a cancerous bad influence like him the better.

The one time he did not play thorugh was for Saka, just before his nutmeg (which is on every highlight reel) which he righyfully backed up by a very good shot as the nutmeg opened up the space to shoot. He could have played through Saka before the nutmeg, immediately apologized to him after the shot, but it was still a good bit of play.

The rest of the time he always took the right decision. Players are human and have to take decisions in a split second, therefore there will always be occaisons where they get it wrong.

I think a lot of the posters in here have never played football on a competitive level otherwise they would understand such things a bit better.

If Zirskee is gonna be our 2nd choice striker, I'd rather keep Rashford despite the problems we've had with him. He's a decent option on the wing or central as was seen at Barca

Have to say, its like a new signing. A signing that no one with eyes wanted, we all know it'll be a huge mistake and one we'll be paying for, for a long while.

Ah, you’re one of those angry ones who absolutely can’t stand him.
Fair enough of course you can only look at last night and see only the one moment he probably should’ve passed.

Think Mbappe took about 5 pot shots where he absolutely should’ve passed. It happens.
Generally though, Rashford has a good game last night. Not at Saka’s level of course, but a good game nonetheless.

I don’t think he’ll have an issue finding a new club, just as soon as he knows what his best options are, right now he’s likely waiting out to see if Barca and United can come to some daft cut price deal.

I think that's a little harsh.

I went back and rewatched it because I remember thinking it wasn't fully on. It was a poor ball from Rogers so he had to come back inside, there was a gap but Toney ran in front of it and then by the time he moved Saka was offside.

There was a split second where it was properly on where Rashford was planting his standing foot.

Bruno would've found that pass, a lot of players wouldn't.

How is Bellingham meant to pass to anyone in that scenario? He ran into 3 people. Also, in that scenario that is likely Rashford's position and if someone breaks with him, 3 people crowd him out and he loses the ball with your attacker overcommitted.

They can swarm because they've pushed us wide. Saka I would have preferred as he's better at keeping the ball in those tighter spaces and I have no idea why he wouldn't play if he wasn't injured.

Anyway, Rashford for me is fine as a general option from the bench. I wouldn't want my first XI with him in it as first choice - for club or country. Unfortunately that is an expensive bench option.

Yep I can't stand him and his 300k a week that's anchoring the club to its past failures and not allowing it to move on.

He has the same type of bizarre cult worship on this forum as martial did.

That’s the whole point again, they could be three people because there was only one attacker. If you have two fast wingers running with him, they cannot swarm Jude.
It's because he's wide you can do that, he can only go two ways that's a threat, forward or inside. It only needed two player to push him out there and the CB covering as he came up the line.

But it doesn’t matter where he is if say Watkins and Saka are running inside him and taking defenders away. What are you not getting here? No one was running beyond or even with Jude, that was the problem in those last 25 minutes and why every single tv expert even in Germany are slating Tuchel for not putting fresh attacking legs on.

So how do we feel if we can't move him on? Have we been burned beyond redemption with Marcus? Is it possible he's at a different point now, having had the Barca dream taken away? Pushing on, older and wiser? Fresh shot at the boyhood dream under a different kind of manager? A chance to change the narrative?

He’ll be moved on. Our demands and his will drop as the window moves on.

Because the runners don't matter if you can send him into a cul de sac. My point was the defending by Argentina was brave and the only way an attacker comes out of that situation is to burn them with pace, some how get the ball out of being closed down by 3 players a la Messi or win a foul or throw.

I think we should have put more attackers on, but I also can see how Argentina held the ball and defended. Just adding attackers with pace doesn't simply negate the fact we couldn't get the ball off them and they also won it back constantly.

Fine. It's not ideal, but looking at Gordon and Morgan Rogers price, what can we really expect to get for a reasonable deal? Anyone thinks he's completely useless is being hyperbolic, he obviously has talent and will be useful.

Feels we have a lot of variety to hurt teams, Cunha, Mbeumo, Rashford, Sesko, Amad and Dorgu. None probably outstanding but hoping we can get at least 4 of these guys on 15+ goals next season.

Can actually count on all for big games but still lacking that player that can help us against a low block. Amad and Cunha probably have that bit of brilliance for those tough gritty games.

I reckon what happens is that we do get a decent offer to sell him but it doesn't come until deadline day when it's too late for us to sign a replacement.

Someone will panic, something falls through

Will he sit quietly as a sub and not kick up a fuss? If he's capable of that he can be useful. But my preference is we do get rid of him.

His wage is going to cause massive issues. A player that is on the bench on that type of money is going to make others in the squad wonder why they ain't on that wage when they play week in week out. He needs removed, but that is looking like a near impossibility.

Agree but United are in a tough situation where no one wants him. It's best to try to make the best out of a bad situation.

To save us playing him and get rid of his wages, I think I'd consider releasing him on a free

Oftentimes this can happen, I know. I doubt it in this case, because of how much it’s been publicised the reasons for it.

You think with Rashford and Saka running on the inside those defenders ignore them and swarm Jude? Haha
The risk they run there is that Jude just flicks a ball down the line or inside and it’s game over.
They've already done it from when he first breaks out. Watch it again. 4 - Montiel never even looks inside, covers and then 13 - Romero comes across to cover the line too. At no point in that sequence was Jude ever getting round his man or pass inside being on. They were being brave to win the ball back to try and win the game. That's how they defended all game.

He isn't getting that wage at any other club. He has an ego, but he isn't dumb to leave 34 million quid behind.

Looks like another loan with us subsidising his massive wage.

We all do it at our own workplaces, it will happen at united as well. I also feel the same way with Mount

Please sell him and move on. We can't be holding onto these characters of the last shambolic chapter in our History.

This is like pulling teeth, pause at 0.08 just as Jude gets passed the first player and now imagine that instead of O’Reilly, you have a player much faster than all of them making a sprint beyond Jude. It’s then a simple pass down the line before that player is one on one with the CB that had been forced to come over, and if then had the counter attacking speed of Saka more central, they are fecked.
It’d be suicidal defending against runners, but when England completely stopped attacking and went 5 at the back and Kane is midfield, it was a no brainer for them and carried absolutely zero risk.

Your example here is absolute madness as Jude is left so isolated, O’Reilly jogs behind him and Kane doesn’t even pretend to run.

Jude never gets past the player, he goes wide. I'll leave it there as we're not even seeing the game the same way and I'm derailing the thread.

Mate, at 0:07 it looks like a 3 v 2 in England’s favour is breaking out no?
That then should turn into a 3v3 with the centre back.
It ends with neither O’Reilly nor Kane making any run and with a 1 v 3 in Argentina’s favour.

How are you not seeing this? Stop the play at 0:07 and look, then look how Jude and the two Argies run, and how Kane and O’Reilly, well, don’t. Once Gordon was removed we were left with absolutely no willing runners and played right into Argentina’s hands.

Demanded more money from his boss because Rashford is on 300k
What the hell are you on about? Most employees look at what each other is being paid and get annoyed that others do very little for what they get.

You think this won't happen at united?
