His wage is going to cause massive issues. A player that is on the bench on that type of money is going to make others in the squad wonder why they ain't on that wage when they play week in week out. He needs removed, but that is looking like a near impossibility.
Simple answer right? That player is on a wage from an old unanimously despised wage structure. We don't do those anymore...

People are really shitting the bed here. We’ve moved on Rashford twice, and that after an awful season from him.
He’s now had a decent league winning season and he’ll be moved on.
It’s just about finding the balance between who wants him, what he wants, and how much we want. All this, just as the other two times will be negotiated down as the close of the window draws closer.

What the hell are you on about? Most employees look at what each other is being paid and get annoyed that others do very little for what they get.

You think this won't happen at united?
I was making a comedic post. Based around the absurdity of a hypothetical scenario where someone working a normal job would forcefully demand an increase in their renumeration with their justification being the high wages of a professional footballer.

I was not making any comment regarding the validity of your suggestion that Rashford's high wage may lead to better performing players at Utd to request wage parity with him.

Who's going to pay his 300k a week wages? There aren't many clubs who can. He may have won the league with Barcelona, but they had a proper look at him over a season and decided he wasnt worth the £25mil fee. So they paid £75mil for Gordon instead. That's a daming endictment on what he offers as a player.

The very best ala Khasa (PSG), have shown you need to have the off the ball work rate to go with the attacking ability. Even Vini Jnr does more off the ball tracking back than Rashford. He's an expensive out of touch with the needs of modern football winger, who will be incredibly difficult to shift, be it on a permanent transfer or even on loan, without It's subsidizing his extravagant wages.

Worse is that he could fix the off the ball stuff. Different mindset, determination etc. But he wont.

No it's not because everybody at the club including the tea lady knows exactly why he's making that money sat on the bench and they're not.

He was given a massive contract by people that are no longer running the club and the people that are now giving out the contracts have done everything in their power to get rid of him.

Everybody knows that the club don't want to be paying him those wages, that players like him won't be getting those wages again and that everybody just has to wait for his contract to expire and he will be gone just like they've done with Sancho (unless he stays, plays well and renews on around 100k or something).

No-one.

Villa didn’t (they covered 70%), Barca didn’t (he agreed a 15% reduction on his none CL United salary).

He’ll either get a full time gig and take a lower salary (where maybe United drop their asking price and pay him off), or it’ll be a loan again.
Stop shitting the bed, he’s been moved twice, he’ll be moved again.

The longer it takes, the less likely it is, we will get a LB or LW, which are both dependent on him moving on.

Hate that this hanging over us going into a new season.

Perhaps I'm an optimist but I don't think we're in a terrible position. If no club comes in for him, then he has nowhere to go except our bench, in which case he remains a decent squad player. His CL experience may even be useful.

If at some point he causes a stink, then he'll get exiled (again) and the fact he knows nobody wants him should make him aware of how detrimental that would be. With his England spot in jeopardy, I'm not sure how likely it is to happen.

Our squad might get pissed off because of his salary but, as @reddev3 said, his exodus has been so high profile that I can't see any player believing the club doesn't massively regret giving him that. We're also in a somewhat okay position where our attacking players are all on relatively high wages themselves. Sesko isn't going to cry about only being paid 200k, nor Cunha on 180k or Mbeumo on 150k.

Diallo is a possibility, in which case I imagine the club will instruct him to look at the aforementioned players and say that once he's established himself, he'll be getting wages commensurate with our current attacking starters, not Rashy's.

All this said, the best-case scenario is that he goes, whether on loan or permanent.

The only hope we can cling to here is this is the type of circumstance in which he has decide to be arsed to show up and do his job in the past, and we have a manager with an approach more suited to his delicate sensibilities. This time he also has Cunha and Dorgu competing for minutes at his position, so if he reverts back to not being arsed we'll be just fine, versus when we had even bigger clowns than himself competing for minutes on the left wing.

Honestly cannot wait to see him playing for us again. Was treated disgracefully by the worst manager we have had in my lifetime

I'm a bit pissed that it's likely we'll have to put up with him walking round the pitch again. Hopefully he can feck off somewhere before the window closes.

Just a shame Rashy had a couple of disrupted seasons. Halted his progress in becoming our all time top scorer

Will need a couple of high scoring seasons to get back on track :)

He has 138 goals. 2 seasons where he scored 17 or 18 and it becomes a real discussion about whether he can do it.
It was certainly on but probably not now. Would still be on for 200 though and no lazy footballer is scoring 200 goals for anyone

This reminds me of when I ran away from my grandparents home during summer. I only made it to the local gas station until i realized they live in the middle of nowhere. So props to Rashy for making it a whole season.

Doesn't he need 6 more seasons scoring about 20 goals? Absolutely zero chance.

Of his final 4 seasons here, he was really poor in 3 of them.

Is that a coincidence that we’re under two of the worst managers we’ve had? Amorim was definitely getting rid of wingers regardless of how good.

It's astonishing that a player with this attitude and limitations to his ability would be welcomed back.

Does this post mean he has poor ability? Poor attitude sure.

Might be worth listening to Jimmy Floyd Hasslebank talking about his ability, the other day.

I'm half aware that I'm getting excuses in early, but I kind of warm to the idea of keeping Rashford. Having him as an option on the bench against tiring defences, covering left wing and striker isn't the worst scenario.

Of course he'd probably spend the season sulking, but in theory...

He was also awful under Ole and Rangnick in 21/22 before Ten Hag arrived.

His best season of his career also came under Ten Hag.

At some point the player has to take responsibility.

Yeah sadly we may now have to settle for him being in the 200 club. Rarified air at Utd still

There is so much discussion and different opinions on this. But rather then always assuming a negative outcome of a possible reintegration, why not think about how brilliant a positive redemtion could be/feel?

A Rashford, aligned on his role and fully commited to the situation and his new manager (Carrick), could fast fall back in love with his boyhood club again. I bet it would just take a few goals from him off the bench and a positive start to the season from the Team as a whole to lift the general Energy around the club and Rashford himself. People would then remember very fast all the good things he did for us in the past and that he is one of United's own.

Nope. He was good till Ronaldo came and then the entire team went to shit. He single handedly almost kept Ten Hag in his job despite his awful management, but he was still not as good as 20/21.

I reckon you'll just loan him out on last day of the window. Frees up wages and contract begins to run down, possibly January permanent option.

Did wonder if we might try again as he enjoyed it with Emery. Spurs also been linked and they're short upfront.

Surely by now he's realised he's better out of Man. United environment with the year at Barca. You reintegrate him, have a few disappointing results and he'll start getting stick again so best for all parties he gets a permanent fresh start as not like you'd win the league if you just started playing him again.

I wouldn't say that's always the definitive way of judging it.

Ronaldo in 06/07 was better than Igor Thiago last season but he scored less goals.
Rashford's 22/23 season was the best of his career. I don't think that's up for debate.

"Nope" what?

Whether his best season was 19/20, 20/21 or 22/23 is splitting hairs, irrelevant to the point that he's had poor seasons under multiple managers.

He was poor in 21/22 under Ole and Rangnick, poor in 23/24 under Ten Hag, poor in 24/25 under Amorim such that he ended up loaned out in Jan. This is just undeniable truth.

If he looks like he can’t be arsed again, we should put it down to understandable exhaustion from having to get all those buses
