If that's all he gets it'll have been disappointing, regardless of him starting every game or not. He got much more than that while a rotation player at Barca last season.

I'd be wanting similar numbers to what he got for them.

I can remember it happening a couple of times. It was a decent performance and like I said, off the bench I can see value in having him but he can’t be starting over Cunha once Sesko is fit and starting again.
 
Not a fan of having him back around the first team in truth.

I think the baggage he comes with outweighs the positives.

We all know he's a decent player - he was never world class but he was an asset once upon a time - sadly a long time ago.

He lost his way here, and has a LONG way to go before he's fully accepted back truly. His off field behavior and lack of professionalism can't be ignored - we've come a long way in recent seasons with the characters around the squad. We could argue Rashford is the last of the "bad eggs" left - but it seems he has the chance to play his way back into favour.

The issue for me is "decent" 6/10 just is not going to cut it - he needs to step up and deliver and pronto - and more importantly consistently which is something he's never been great at. Maybe the bar is set higher for Rashford - but he owes the club I think. He's on insane wages, he's been a nuisance for the club with the off field noise and he's been trying to leave for a couple of seasons - and continues to make digs on his socials. He's highly scrutinized which happens at UTD, but only himself can turn his fortunes around.

I know all the public talk from the squad and manager will be all positive "glad to have him back" stuff but I do wonder if his re-integration has really gone down that well internally.

First game he has a stinker, which he will we'll see how he handles it cos the attention will be massive.

As for his performance vs Ipswich - I thought he was ok. I think his crosses in we're wasted with no ST, Bruno furthest forward is never going to lead to goals from headers, but when Sesko is back - thats a link up that will work. I thought he done the basics ok - didnt shit out of a few tackles he would have a couple seasons ago. Showed willing. A 6/10. Nothing amazing - certainly would expect to see Cunha back on LW when Sesko is fit. He's got a long road ahead
 
He is able to beat a man both with pace or dribbling which is very valuable especially in our team, can give us the edge in some situations. Cunha can't do that, nor Dorgu. Mbeumo rarely does it on the other side.
My guess is that he will start most games and will have a good season.

But can you imagine the giddiness from his fans on here (and English press) if he made an assist like this one? I fully expect Gordon to match or better Rashford’s stats for Barca. It’s just an extremely easy team to rack up stats for attacking players.

Completely necessary post that and I'd hope so too considering he cost 70m and it looks like he's guaranteed a starting XI role in multiple positions.

On Rashford's performance against Ipswich, thought he was alright. Still looks off it in the attacking phase, did a lazy cross in the 1st half that nearly lead to a counter goal but a shite shot/save by Lammens kept it out. Passing was safe, crossing hit or miss because of lack of targets. Stepped it up in the 2nd half and he did his defensive duties decently enough, hoping the sharpness improves through game time because he was one of the few players that had like 30 mins in preseason.

Still think are left winger, whoever it is is gonna suffer with Shaw being the starting full back throughout the season due to lack of mobility. Does seem to have a decent understanding with Rashford but even then it usually ends in a disappointing cross.

It was decent, but nothing like this assist against a proper team, though.

 
I wanted him to stay because it is the best for the team and our season. And i am glad that he is doing ok. Nothing special so far but i would rather have him on that wing than Dorgu.

Ok to be fair I'm a long time fanboy of his. But he has been a very frustrating player in recent times. I hope he turns it around and wins back the rest of the fan base with some solid performances. We're kinda light across all positions so we do need him.

4 mins in and the stretford end were singing that Rashford song because he ran with the ball and it turned to nothing. Supporters are fickle bunch unfortunately
 
How great would it be if he had another class season with us, proving his doubters wrong. I want to see him get higher on our all time scorer list.

I think it's just accepted that he's here and not going anywhere now so the fans and Rashy are in this together now.

My issue with Rashford has always been how he's seen within the club, he was seen as the main man who would lead us to titles and I never believed that. I've always felt he's someone when in form goes straight into the starting lineup but needs competition for his place and should be one of a few important attackers and that's the situation he finds himself in. He's going to have to work hard to earn and keep his place as a starter.

There's no doubt he has quality. People hate the term 'he's like a new signing' but that's what Rashford actually is, even though he's not the one we probably wanted at the start of the summer. He's our only player to play CL football in the last two seasons and he's had some stand out performances there so he definitely still has a lot to give us this year.

I would imagine (hope) that most people would support him if he is putting the effort in, doesn’t even need to be a world beater, just needs to play for the team. We’ve supported worse players as a fan base.

I wonder how much the Sancho situation has made him think. Sancho probably thought he’d go straight into a big club with a big bonus and big wages. Seems his lack of effort and quality has caught up with him though, same thing could happen with (or anybody running down a contract), although he has a better body of work. There is now direct evidence that if you have a season of dossing about doing very little it can impact you if you end up out of contract, so the incentive is there to perform.
 
When all our attackers are fit, he should be on the bench.

He can be a useful asset late on in games against tired legs and when there’s more space to exploit.

Both Bruno and Tielemens can find those balls to unleash his best qualities.
 
I think we are seeing the nearing the end of his contract Rashford. He could really surprise us if he continues to apply himself. Wish him all the best (since we are stuck with him).
 
So good to see him on the pitch with a smile on his face again, missed that for a long time. Hope he can keep the good energy up all season. He can be a quality option on the left for us. Unfortunately not much competition.
 
Probably our best player today. A lot of his dribbles were coming off and he reignited his strong partnership with Shaw. Everton would've been relieved to see him getting subbed off for Dorgu.
 
Unless he was injured it was really stupid to sub him off, he was by far our most dangerous player.
 
He was our best player. I was not expecting to see performances like this. Hopefully he can keep it up.

Totally killed it for us Everton had nothing to worry about anymore after him and Cunha were subbed out. Mbeumo may have scored but that was his only positive attacking moment. Carrick needs to get the best of this squad because it's too good for the shit results so far.
 
No idea why he was taken off.

Shocking that we were trying to get rid of a player who shows he is a better attacker than the others.
 
Looked really good and kept tracking back. A welcome return if he keeps this up.
 
Looks a very different player than the completely uninterested figure that we saw for the last 18 months or so of his first spell.

Hope he keeps this up.
 
Replacing him with Dorgu was very strange. Was he injured? He was fantastic today and gave Everton a lot to think about, they couldn't handle him. He will be crucial if we're going to achieve anything this season because he just make those around him play better. That was a complete fullback performance from Shaw today.
 
Big downgrade for him to go from the world class quality he had around him at Barca back to us.
 
I'll give Rashford his flowers. He was excellent today. If Carrick took him off for any reason other than some injury/fatigue then he made a massive mistake.
 
I quite like the Rashford I’m seeing now. He doesn’t seem to be playing for himself now and he is linking up well with Shaw. Needs a goal or an assist I feel to get him going but really he’s been quite good.

Think he was starting to struggle a bit before coming off. Was getting energy tubes and the likes from the touchline and a few of his runs looked like really hard work for him near the end.

Not sure he is built for graft and sprints over 90 minutes.
