Marcus Rashford | 2026/27 Performances

I hope the people who have been slagging him off and insulting him for years look inward and reflect now. He’s still our player and will probably be playing for us next year. Going to make people look foolish!
He’s been going to make people look foolish for years. The fools are the ones still holding their breath.

I'm chuckling at the thought of some in here thinking they got one over the footballer that has been playing, scoring and assisting in the Premiership, La Liga and the World Cup.... this thread is representative of online discourse across the world right now, the extremists are shouting over everyone and giving the impression were all going mad, and maybe we are...

Dont assume to put thoughts in my head and words in my mouth please. I watched every single match he played at United. You can stand on a thousand soap boxes but you’re not going to change objective facts. This was a player that was propped up as one of the standard bearers of this club, and the dedication, effort and commitment on and off the pitch were an insult. If you think the way he carried himself was acceptable that’s your prerogative, but you don’t get to pass judgment on anyone who disagrees. Nothing I’ve said is untrue.

Agree, the lunatics have taken over the asylum…

Think you’ve missed the point, which is kind of the point :o

I’m not responsible for what anyone else thinks or says, nor do I care how it affects anyone’s delicate sensibilities. My point can’t really be refuted unless you just willfully ignore everything that was right in front of your eyes for years. I also said in this thread that bringing him back won’t be the end of the world, but by all means keep telling me what I’m thinking.

Says it all if Aston Villa prefers Garnacho to Rashford and Barca rather spends 70m on Gordon. Cant believe so many would take Marcus back after all we have seen

Agreed. I can never understand how Rashford can do no wrong for in the eyes of so many fans, yet it's pretty evident to most of his managers.

Just look at his performances for England at the World Cup. Brought in against Panama and was disappointing. Against DR Congo, he was absolutely dreadful, but the pundits won't say it.

England then played Mexico, Norway and Argentina in the further knockout rounds and Rashford didn't get a sniff. Tuchel clearly didn't like what he saw.

Rashford is a moments player. Either impacting from the bench with pace or making headlines when the chips are down against him. It's not enough for a player on his salary who does very little to help without the ball.

You have to be world class to be lazy, like Mbappe or Messi. Rashford is far off but his attitude is as if he does not need to work or fight for the team

We’ll just see the usual gaslighting. Apparently being rejected by Barcelona for a fee you’d consider cheap these days for a back-up left back and having seemingly absolutely no interest from anyone is, is exactly what he wanted

If he does end up playing for us this season, what are our predictions for how many pages this thread will get to? I'm thinking 200+. Maybe even 250. We're already up to six pages and the new season is still four weeks away.

Easily. Probably even more with the way @Nyland posts, literally the same post everyday worded slightly different.

depends how furious Frank and boys get at how anyone dare notice he isn’t very good.

 It's just simple maths. Up until the WC majority of your posts where letting us know what you thought of a player that hadn't played for us for a year multiple times a day, everyday and you didn't even watch him whilst on loan. So if he does stay I'm sure you will be twice as vocal and that's not me disagreeing with some of your points but you do love to let your stance be known.

I'll save any concerns about Rashford still being here until the window actually closes, but it would be a concern. Hopefully we see some movement on getting him gone.

Would be some managerial achievement by Carrick, if he could manage to re-integrate Rashford into the squad and get him to perform at the level we know he is capable of. It's not like we couldn't use a player with his qualities, but obviously the work rate, the focus and the history is a concern.

Still hope we manage to get a transfer fee for him - that would be the dream.

It’s always gonna be the work rate that’s the stumbling block. I think it may also explain why, alongside the wages, we are struggling to find buyers. In a very physically competitive league, you can only really countenance such poor work rate if you are getting something absolutely exceptional in return. He doesn’t offer that.

Which ever fullback he is playing in front of is going to pretty much be under constant pressure and exposure, aside from the opening six minutes of a game when Rashford may feign interest in getting back. And what are you getting for that in return? Hope that once every five or six games he gets a goal or an assist?

Club announced he's been given the #11 shirt... clearest indication yet he'll be in the squad this year?

Would happily have him stay if he’s really up for it. Never had nothing against him and actually think he’s a very underrated player. Cunha, Rashford, Sesko, Amad, Mbeumo and Bruno in the attacking line is ridiculously good. Rashford starting some matches or coming on for the last 20 against tired teams will be a great weapon to have.

Understand the issue with wages that people have but felt like we were almost trying to give him away recently. Hopefully get a motivated and confident Rashford back if he’s staying.

Did the club actually announce it or did you just see the same engagement bait fan account post the news that I saw? Don’t see this confirmed anywhere from a legitimate source.

Hoping for a hard working Rashford is the same as hoping for a right footed Antony. He doesn't have it in him, he never did and never will

A couple of recent posts say they "hope" Rashford is motivated and works hard. My point is the fact that we have to hope a Manchester United player who was given the keys to the club is motivated and works hard means that player is not some sort of wrongfully exiled victim.

Spot on. Crossing our fingers and hoping an academy lad can be fecked trying. What a time to be alive.

Like most folks here I believed best outcome this summer was to sell rashford and sign a replacement

But at this stage, have we any confidence in the club actually signing a replacement if we did manage to move him on?

It's gotten to the stage where
I feel he is better than no one. In theory he offers cover on the left and at striker ...if he's motivated and changed his attitude.

Huge IF though obviously. Hopium but any chance hes matured a bit ? He seemed sharp and the right attitude for Barca and England right?

I'd sooner see him sold with no one brought in instead than keep him around. It's not ideal to have your highest earner be the most work shy player in the side, and I don't think this is a controversial take, his out of possession work is voluntarily non-existent.

Zero confidence we are gonna find a taker for him

He's an absolutely shite striker. I'd rather Zirkzee up top. At least he can hold the ball up and bring others into play. Anything is better that the sight of Rashford trudging around up here and doing a terrible job of pretending to press/contest 50:50s

Off the left in an open game as a sub we still could do worse

Yeah he's waste of space down the middle

What's weird about this is we never really needed to replace him this summer. We have Dorgu and Cunha as our left wing options with Thompson just signed, we were not short of players in that area even without Rashford. Maybe some people might be unhappy with the quality of options, but there is no hole in the squad to fill even after Rashford leaves. You don't need 3 senior players for one position.

The links to Summerville in case Rashford leaves were always a bit bizarre, I assumed at one point we must be considering moving Dorgu to left back, but that doesn't seem to be the case as things stand.

Now, it's possible Zirkzee leaves and we don't replace him, in which case keeping Rashford around effectively as Zirkzee's replacement would make some sense, with Rashford/Cunha/Mbeumo acting as back up to Sesko up front.

I’m still certain that he won’t be here come the end of the transfer window.

First match he’ll be “working on his fitness” and the others he will be an unused sub or at best get 10 minutes. He will then be sent on loan for the rest of the season with us probably paying some of his wages this time.

Hopefully you are right

Im coming around to the fact that we won't be able to shift him either this or next season. I'm not concern with his ability - he won't be dislodging Cunha or Dorgu (maybe the 22-23 or the one during Covid season Rashford) - as long as he is ok with knuckling down and fighting for his place. It is the media circus having him back that I'm more worried with. I just hope it the club and Carrick is prepared for it. Unlike Sancho or even Ronaldo to an extend, he never disrespected the club, if he is in the squad when the season starts I'll support him.

Yeah the media circus has to be handled right
