What a ridiculous post.
Like the only barometer for being professional is turning up for work. He certainly downed tools when he last played for us 18 months ago. Lazy, half arsed performances. Going on the piss in Belfast. Lying to the club. You'd think he might want to avoid being scrutinised two days before he is due to return to work, for a club he hasn't played for in 18 months? Nah, I'll go on the piss in public instead. He's not far off turning 30 years old.

He can still play games and attend training while be mentally checked out. However, unlike Sancho, other than the Belfast incident, Rashford has always shown professionalism. He never spoke badly of the club.
 
I'm not so disappointed, we have seen what he can do. He likes playing with freedom which he will get under Carrick. He needs to be an option as CF

He's probably staying so we need to get used to it and find ways to integrate him into the squad.

I wonder if he truly has no interest in making it work at Man Utd again. It's still his boyhood club, and we can be cautiously optimistic about the direction of the club right now. There's a good role fit for him as well with options both at LW and back-up CF.

I agree with you. We have no choice but to accept this. He won't take a pay cut. Or join a club that harms his chances with England. All fair enough. I'm just surprised the club hasn't found a way to get rid of him yet.
 
I’m behind him. He’s a United player and fame/pressure is real.

If he comes in, gives it 100% and has a positive impact we’ve got a real player and we should support him.

True. He obviously hasn't forgotten how to play football, so its just a matter of Carrick making sure he is culturally reintegrated into his squad, which shouldn't be too difficult given they know each other and played together during Rashy's early career.

Dreadful take.

No matter what he does at this point he is never going to be remotely as effective as a number 9 as Sesko. If he stays he will be on the bench and playing in the Carabao cup because we have much better options already for the first XI.
 
I don’t see this tiger truly changing its stripes. You’ll probably get him trying his bollocks off one or two games, probably even scores too and the fanbase will go kneejerk mental saying he’s back but I don’t think it’ll be long before he’s reverting to type, where pressing is half hearted, getting dispossessed cheaply and going for 20 yarders from highly ambitious angles.

He could be useful if we’re playing counter attack but he’s a handbrake on a canoe against low block teams.

And if he’s still ineffective and creating a sideshow by this time next year, then he’s on the last year of that ridiculous contract and we can probably afford to pay it off and essentially tell him to go away like Arsenal did with Ozil and Aubameyang.

I think everyone including Rashford himself, view him as a left sided attacker who would back Cunha up. He could of course occasionally play in the middle, but I don't think Sesko's job would be in peril given that Rashford is fundamentally a left sided player these days.

I think he has arguably become a slightly better player since being at Barca. He looks to put in dangerous crosses more now, which could benefit Sesko.
Long way to go to redemption, but if no one is offering decent money for him and he gets his head down he could be useful.
 
I can understand people wanting him out the club - I guess I do too - but when he's here, he's a United player, and for everyone's benefit, we should hope that he plays the best football of his career and support him so that he can achieve that.
 
He’s still a good player.
If we don’t get a good offer for him, put him to use and hopefully he puts the head down.
Cunha, Rashford and Dorgu are great options for LW.
Carrick will be good for him.

The mistake happened in 2023 when the club offered him a contract with a much too high salary. It's not like we've been making the same mistake with Rashford every year since - we're struggling with the fall-out from a decision made years ago.
 
If he isn't performing as well as he did at Barca after his first couple of full games, he should end up being a full time sub. There is no excuse now. He already checked out once and wanted a new start. Now he doesn't want to go anywhere although he has options; so he needs to perform.
There is more to Rashford than meet the eye. Its funny Barca didn't want to sign him up for a mega cheap price, after his good performances.
 
The issue isn't whether Rashford is a good player, he definitely is but his relationship with the club has been exhausted so it's better for all parties that he leaves.

He's been away for a year and a half off on loans to Villa and Barca. He had his time with us as the main man and it didn't work, coming back here to be fighting for a starting place as our top earner will just be odd.

The main thing is that he has a very short leash with a majority of the fanbase, one missed chance, a lazy attempt at tracking back and they'll be on his case and this will lead to him dropping his head as we've seen before.

Both Rashford and United need to move on and I'm pretty sure he leaves, probably in the last week of the transfer window.
 
Urgh. If someone had told me at the start of the window that we would improve the squad by exactly 0% and also bring back Rashford...How depressing.
 
I turned on a Barcelona game on my small TV in the kitchen last year and I seen a guy running back on the left wing for Barca and I couldn't make out if it was Raphina or Rashford. As I was watching it, the other team gave a through ball to their striker and this guy put his hand up for offside. I then knew straight away it was Raphina as shouting for offside is something that I don't think I've ever seen Rashford do. It was an interesting observation as taking part in the team game (tackles, encouraging team-mates, fighting for a header in the last minute of an FA cup final against City etc.) is something Rashy doesn't take part in.

I think that's the main thing that grates fans, he just doesn't seem to give a shit and has no fight in him. Put the ball at his feet or give him something to run on to and he'll try but anything else he checks out

I'd rather we give all of our attention to Cunha and Dorgu on that left side then ever seeing Rashford in a red shirt again.

If I'm going to be disappointed, id rather it be someone new.
 
I for one am look forward to him dribbling it out of play four times a game and walking about like football pains him and he hates United. A leopard never changes it's spots.

Completely agree. That’s why even though on paper it seems that he could offer us something, the thought of him strutting around in the dressing room as one of the biggest earners at the club is a depressing scenario. The contract is the only thing keeping up with the illusion of him being a top player. No one wants to pay 25-30 million for him when the likes of Morgan Rogers costs 117 million or the 80 million for Gordon.
The only hope I have is that he would feel humbled by this situation, and realise that a couple of good seasons with proper effort can still change the course of how his United career will be viewed. Not too optimistic though.

That's a costly option. Well, any option is a costly option. No one outside the Saudi league is going to match his wages. And I don't think he wants to go there.

I hope it all works out for him. Especially if he's been struggling with mental illness. We all know what the best Marcus Rashford can do for a team.

Not really, no. We lost Casemiro and gained Tielemans. Lost Ugarte and gained Santos. Case was important last season so we are yet to see if Tielemans can match up. Santos is still an unknown in the PL for us.

I would say that's no improvement yet, and we have far more matches to play this season.
 
At this point we should keep him because it doesn't look like we're gonna find a better player to replace him if he's sold.
