Marcus Rashford - Barcelona “we don’t want him” | High salt content warning

We all have issues with one or two players at the club at the moment, but they’re all industrious and work hard. I think we can do without seeing this guy stroll around the pitch and reading statements in the week along the lines of “Sources close to the player believe that Marcus Rashford is seriously considering giving a toss in the next fixture”

It's the circus that surrounds him. If he was Ronaldo you'd put up with it, but he's essentially a moments player and not worth the hassle. Especially since we're signing the right attacking talent in the market now.

Sooner all parties secure a permanent move for him the better. We've sorted out the dressing room atmosphere and removed bad apples. Definitely don't need his lazy arse returning

Another loan is laughable

Will be interesting what they do this summer though because their finances seem to be a mess. They already dropped out of the race for their top defensive target, Bastoni, because he'll cost too much.

They will do EVERYTHING possible to keep him at the club, as long as it doesn’t involve money, goes without saying.

It's a reliable Barca source but I don't think the issue is will here, they'll likely need to do some more creative financial gymnastics and lever pulling this summer to fund their retool.

Really dislike him. People kept giving him leeway and excuses because he’s an academy player but he doesn’t really care and is willing to feck over the club by insisting that he only wants to play for Barcelona.

feck him and the idiots who gave him a new contract. Should have let him walked for free like I said we should.

And there's still two years left on the contract, it seems to be never ending

Arsenal have been praised for ruthlessly cutting players which has culminated in their success and I think they'd have done it to Rashford while we held on.

Even if we can't sell him, getting another loan where we're not paying any of his wages makes far more sense than the sort of compensation package required to bin his contract.

If we loan him out for the remainder of the contract we've effectively done that. We've only paid a season and a half of the contract, the rest has been subsidised by other clubs. As bad as this contract is it's nothing on Mounts 250k p/w and 50m buy price. As long as United make it mandatory that they buy him next year then we've done well to not pay what he's technically owed.

At this point it's straight cash or we may as well keep him and play him.

Barca will happily find 90M for an inferior player who doesn't get close to 30 G/A a season, they're just trying to exploit us.

How did Arsenal get rid of Aubameyang, Lacazette, Ozil etc.... Where they loaned out?

Ozil had his contract terminated with six months left. It was reported that he forwent any compensation.

Aubameyang had his contract terminated with (I think) 18 months left. He was paid a reported £7 million.

Lacazette's contract just came to an end and wasn't renewed.

They terminated Aubemeyang and Ozil's contracts but Lacazette had his expire.

Funny enough, Aubameyang also won a title with Barca right after leaving them

If Rashford isn't going to budge on not wanting anyone but Barca and they've made it clear they want him then surely it would be beneficial all around that United follow suit and do a mutual consent type of thing? Or are we in a bad shape transfer wise and we need the funds? If the best we can come up with is another loan then we're just pushing the problem down the road till next year, might as well get rid now.

Just had google of him, he's still doing alright at 36. Forgot he even played for Chelsea, hopefully that's where Rashford and his career path similarities end. Couldn't imagine Rashford playing for one of the "big" rivals.

Depends whether he'd want compensation.

He's got two years left, so seems unlikely he'd forgo it.

If we can get someone to cover his wages while loaned out (as Barca and Villa have) then that's preferable to giving him a chunk of cash to tear up his contract, even if it isn't as good as selling him.

that last line makes me laugh....like it took them all this time to figure that out.

I find this situation very annoying. If Rashy has been good enough for Barca to want to make him a permanent signing then fee that both clubs agreed to is an absolute bargain.

Call me sceptic but I Don't believe a thing we will continue to get these scoops How Rashford is willing to take a paycut and Barca want to sign him and are in negotiations with United but in the end it would be just another loan for a Season .

United should then say no, you broke the deal. Don't want other clubs to see United being soft and getting out of paying an agreed fee to then get another loan to let his contract run down and pay nothing.

Also, I don't think that's good for Barca's reputation. It would put other clubs off doing deals like that with them if they can't keep their word.

They’re shameless and don’t care.

I agree. I suppose it's one of the biggest clubs in the world and players will always want to go there but surely breaking their word would make it difficult for other clubs to want to do business with them.

I don't think Barca are in the wrong here just bit cheap , they arent reneging on any contract it was an option not an obligation they are free to do whatever they deem fit.

What is happening is Ineos simply don't want Rashford here we have shown our hand , Rashford and Barca know that its a game of Poker where Rashford and Barca are in Cahoots and hold all the good cards .

They’ll do what they do best, tap the players up and try to bully the selling club into selling.

Barcelona and Real have the same playbook.
