Marcus Rashford - Barcelona Watch

"I feel like I'm at home. What the club stands for means a lot for me".

"The reckless mismanagement of finances. The gross commercialisation of the club. A place more and more disconnected from its soul. It feels so familiar and I'm ready to make 3-4 sprints a match. Can't wait to get started."

Wild that this has happened for him. Goes to show that teams will hang on to good form years ago so long as its a reasonable fee for them.

He'll be a squad player but I think it'll work out well. He'll be part of a dominant team, he won't be expected to start, he'll work hard to try and earn the move and get in the England squad. All set up for him to actually give a feck enough to put the work in

I'm sure I speak for everyone here in wishing Marcus Rashford personal happiness and health, but my God what an arrogant human being he has become. So he implies that because United are in a period of change and thus he had to leave. I wouldn't expect to admit that he did anything wrong, but how he's handled everything since the day after he signed the new contract has been appalling.

Do we have any Barcelona supporters on here and if so, what do they think? Rashford's game is all about pace and power on the counterattack and I have my doubts about his contribution on the pitch to a side that at least I don't think compete against sides that leave themselves open to counterattacks. Most Barcelona opponents, correct if I'm wrong about this, sit in a low block. I've never seen anything in Rashford's quiver that suggests being able to carve open low block defending.

Or maybe it's all about shirt sales, in which case Mes Que Un Club" and roll in the dough.

Him suggesting he will be wasting the peak time in his career with us while the club is in transition is well out of order.

Best of luck to him
( that’s not how we would like to remember his as an arrogant prick)
Oh you guys were serious

thing that really sticks out for me in his United career was when Amorim challenged him by dropping him from the derby squad and he just folded, "ready for a new challenge" and all. It's a shame because the kid was damn likeable and even used his platform to challenge politicians and fight for a good thing. Too bad that he pissed his United career and legacy away with poor attitude during his final two seasons here.

Nevertheless, I wish him luck at Barcelona. I feel he's genuinely lost a bit of his love for football and going abroad might be just what he needs. I guess my feeling are basically this:

Go well. Score lots of goals. Don't come back.

Good for Rashford that he got the move he wanted & I wish him well but he will not be the main man on that team. His minutes could be very limited, making an England spot hard to come by.

I know I'm being overly negative but when he talks about United going through a period of transition I can't help but think "Yeah, and you've fecked off and left others to deal with it." For that alone, every player still at the club (who is a decent player) is more of a club legend than he is.

Again; I know I'm being overly negative. But also grrrr.

He's a lot better than the likes of Ferran Torres and co. I'd back him to nail down the left wing spot by the end of the year and score atleast 20 goals (all comps).

Yeah I’m not having this failing upwards BS in football these days.
This guy is one of the reasons we are in the mess we are in. Downed tools as soon as the going got tough and ends up at the La Liga Champions.

I know he is not the only reason and I’m not scapegoating him, but if he really cared about United he would’ve put in more effort than he has done over the last past couple of seasons

Go on Rashy smash it. It would be great to get his 300k and Casemiro's off the books next year.

Think he'll be really happy there, good weather, surrounded by players even more talented than him.

Think we will see a very good Rashford.

Just saving on his wages is financially huge for us too.
He was surrounded by better players here, but that never helped.  I would be shocked if he was successful over there

Not really.. even last season bar Amad he was obviously the best attacker forward here, in a crap team that did even worse when he was banished.

He literally had to play out of skin under EtH and as soon as he stopped, the entire team kind of regressed as well.

Having watched the video where he makes the statement, nothing he says looks arrogant at all and he genuinely seems to not have any resentment towards the club.

The question was phrased very negatively actually.

People are raging he said he would never say anything bad about United

It's also beside the point, the club wanted him out for reasons... What's he supposed to do exactly? He doesn't fit the team...

Were there any talks of issues with his work rate at Villa?

If you can watch that interview and believe anything bad has been said you’ve officially lost your head.
Think the haters are more upset that he got his move to Barcelona all be it on loan, think most of them thought he would end up at West Ham.

Good luck to the lad.

Not being a United fan, I don't have the dislike for him a lot do. A fit and firing Rashford will be good for England as him at peak is better than anything else on the left side. It'll also work out for United as they'll get a decent fee for him.

Flick might get something good out of him. Look what he did with Raphinha.

Lowkey he won't have the pressure as in principle he'll be a rotation player and there's a lot of matches to play (I don't think after the season Raphinha has had, anybody thinks he's gonna be a starter).

I'm so glad he's gone, hopefully never to return... just the other 2 stooges to leave and we will be in a much, much better place.

This and with the new signings we have, feeling good about next season.

Actions speak louder than words. Here are his words:

The situation with United, the club is in a period of change and they have been for a while,' Rashford said.

'I don't have anything bad to say about Man United, it's been an important part of not only my career but my life, and I'm very grateful for the opportunity to play for them, but football is the same as life, and not everything goes as simple as you may think.

'This is my next step, my next chapter, and I'm fully focused on this and trying to improve myself and help the team win trophies.

'I don't have anything to say about United, I hope they are successful in the future.

'I'm focused here and I'm ready to play and experience this club.'

We don't need to recite the litany of his actions, which are well known here, but everything about these words indicate that Man United was nothing more than a stepping stone to another club, a doormat to wipe his boots on. "An important part of [his] career and but [his] life."

Amigo, Man United was far more than a "part" of your life. It is the club that made the life you enjoy today possible. While United was paying you 325k/week you downed tools, went on bangers in other countries, and never contributed much to your national team either. You were desperate to play for the NT during a major international tournament despite being injured, played poorly because of the injury, then took time off during the new club season to seek treatment for said injury. And when the going got tough under ETH and then Amorim, you gave up on United.

I hope and think he will do well. Will be much easier for him to excel in a good playing team. Also the burden is off his shoulder, so this mental reset can really help him get back in form.

Good luck to him, hope he does well. Will be good to be away from the shite media and an element of the toxic fanbase we have.

Toxic fanbase?

Have you seen Spanish fans if a player doesn't perform, if he's like he was here then The barca fans will eat rashford alive.

Can't possibly wish him much success, he really let himself and the team down here. Lazy and sulky for far too long.

He'll benefit from a new environment and a good team, so I expect he'll do just fine this season.

I hope the change of environment works well for him. At his best Rashford is one of the more productive wide players in world football. If he can rediscover his form, this move should work well for everyone.

Yeah, he didn't saying anything wrong at all. Shame the way it worked out...local lad plays for United. A dream for local kids but what a shite ending to a potentially great career at OT.
