Marcus Rashford - Barcelona Watch

I know many will disagree. Should we get him back since Carrick is coming back? Carrick likes to play with wingers.

Nope. Not looking back is best for both of us. Dorgu can fill in if needs must, not a perfect solution but he'll at least add some width and he'll try his best.

Having a squad option as good as Rashford is vital for big clubs. Raphinha and Yamal both spent a lot of time injured this season and Rashford stepped up during this period. You need that. You need him as an impact sub. It's a no brainer of a deal for them given how he's played.
He's on twice Raphinha's wages though. This is a no brainer if he agrees to slash his wages to be in line with his ability and role(first backup), but also a no brainer if he doesn't

Nah. It's over, he doesn't want to be here, the club doesn't want him to be here. Everyone needs to move on

Marcus Rashford has no interest in playing for Manchester United.

I think some people really, really need to accept this.

From BarcaForum:
The lack of defensive effort from him in the final moments was criminal.

This was right after he missed that chance. Been on the pitch for 10 minutes

3-2 up in a Cup Final against your biggest rivals. Defending a lead in injury time. Freshest player on the pitch. And that's the effort level? He's the same player.

I have a feeling Marcus and Barcelona will work something out for the long term. On the other hand, he's already 28 and given that his game is almost all about athleticism I could see Barcelona telling him thanks for the memories but no thanks going forward.

I'm shocked. Nobody could ever have seen that coming.

To be honest, Barcelona are just taking the piss now. Either pay the 30 million, after all they've been banging on about wanting to make it permanent or tell them to go do one.

Would rather sell to another European club for 30 million and sub a portion of the wages out of spite.

If we can get rid of him for anything over 20m and all the wages from the rest of his contract then I think you have to be willing to have some leeway on the fee.

No one is going to pay a huge fee and his wages and Barca are one of the few clubs where he might be willing to compromise on the wages to get a move done.

Some of this might be aimed at Rashford as well as they aren’t going to pay the fee and his wages, he might have to be the one that takes the hit rather than Utd.

We had a tweet a few weeks ago saying ”There’s a €30m buyout clause, negotiations will commence soon” so this outcome was extremely obvious

30 million is already a bargain.
Is it?

€30m Euros + a rumoured 3 year contract at 300k a week is an €85m commitment. La Liga's version of FFP amortises that yearly. So it results in a €28.3m a year hit to their FFP/Squad Cost Limit.

In theory they could go out and spend €100m on somebody like Yan Diomande and STILL be able to pay him 150k a week over 5 years and it would hit exactly the same as Rashford's signing as far as FFP.

Obviously if they have cash flow issues then Rashford suddenly becomes more viable, but from their recent accounts their main issue is FFP compliance.

The FFP rules in Laliga are insanely strict. Barca have other priorities like replacing a 37 year old lewa and a LCB. They'd like to keep Rashford but he's not seen as a must have. I think another loan will happen maybe with an obligation for a lower fee.

As proved on numerous occasions United is run by complete idiots.

So as fans we can’t be surprised or shocked when the football world treats the club like it’s run by clowns.

Barcelona are skint. In an actual league they would’ve been properly punished, but here they are selling future rights for inflated fees to shell companies. It’s just a new version of them signing players by sending someone in the opposite direction and valuating them at 100 something mill euros.

they were never going to sign Rashford for the fee mentioned, he would’ve needed to be an insane success making it a no-brainer, but thats not Rashford.

Tell them to feck off. The audacity to even float that idea. What’s the point of a loan deal with an option to buy if they just ask for more favourable terms afterwards.

We have a new manager who might want Rashford back, so either pay up or return him. If Rashford himself is hellbent on playing for Barca, he can lower his wage demands.

If you were Barcelona why would you pay a fee for Rashford when you don't have to? We've made it very clear that we don't want him and Barcelona are secure in their status as one of the biggest clubs in the world that Rashford is not going to want to go anywhere else. They'll send him back in the summer and we will offer him other loan options and he'll tell us to do one; he only wants to go to Barcelona. Then Barcelona will tell us they don't want to pay his wages in full any more and we have to supplement his wages as well.

Barcelona are not skint. The league has incredibly tight FFP rules and if you see the net spend of barca over the last Five years, it's +5mil. The league has punished Barcelona, probably much more severely than any other league. They've had to sit and watch Messi walk away and a lot of other players. They couldn't be in the running for a lot of players even now while their fiances have stabilised because the league won't allow it. If it wasn't for La masia Barca would have been the next AC Milan.

It's a shithouse club and it's fecking laughable that there's so little focus on it. There's been so many dodgy transfers, like the Pjanic deal, there's been so many daft "levers", including the Barcelona Studios nonsense for digital content, misreporting income.

Is he actually doing well over there? It’s all gone a bit quiet since those couple of weeks where he tried really hard… seems quite similar to the Villa loan frankly
