Marcus Rashford - Barcelona Watch

Barca are going to ask for another loan and encourage Rashford to kick up a big fuss to get it. You can bet your house on that. A real loser of a club which should rightfully be bankrupt.

Is he actually doing well over there? It’s all gone a bit quiet since those couple of weeks where he tried really hard… seems quite similar to the Villa loan frankly
Raphinha is fully or nearly fully fit again and has immediately demonstrated how much he's been missing while Rashford filled in (or didn't).
He still is and has been alright, but Raphinha is the most direct competitor in the squad and his importance for Barca's playstyle cannot be overstated. He is the mentality and pressing leader on the pitch, which Rashford so much isn't, it's not even funny.

Well this is his level of effort playing in final of Supercup for Barca:

3-2 up in a Cup Final against your biggest rivals. Defending a lead in injury time. Freshest player on the pitch. And that's the effort level? He's the same player.

As much as I love Ole, I was worried if Ole came back that we would see lot of this again, so hopefully at least Carrick is smarter than that.

He's the same player. He will score or assist soon and some numpty will bemoan that we got rid of him. But then they'll go quiet for another month as he contributes feck all.

Been over two months since he last got a goal or an assist in the league (against the mighty Elche and Celta Vigo, respectively)

He's scored 7 goals and made 11 assists, across all competitions.

His first "goal contribution" came on the 14th of September when he assisted a goal against Valencia.

That started a run of 15 "goal contributions" in 13 matches, ending with two assists against Celta Vigo on the 9th of November.

He's played 11 matches since then and managed just 2 assists and 1 goal (which came against the team currently sat 19th of 20 in one of the two divisions in the Spanish third tier).

So, same old purple-patch Rashford, basically.

Seems like no change at all. Scored goals in bunches, with extremely long barren periods where the fans get more and more irritated by the lack of defensive effort from a player who isn’t cutting it in attack either. We’ve seen this movie before.

And we had fans on here saying they wanted him back after Ruben left, insanity doesn't cover it

They have money now right? Stadium seat sales that weren’t built yet or something?

1 goal in his last 11 games for a side that averages 3+ goals per game, in an inferior league. Surely he is not doing very well.

I remember the miss but holy shit this is bad. Don't want him back here at all.

This is nearly as bad as that bit, against Luton was it a few years ago.

Of the few things Amorin got right it was moving on the likes of Rashford, not sure why people would take him back? Do people not remember the unprofessional late for training, the parties after we lost etc.

Do not want back!

He is the same player he was here. Its been silent in here while hes been doing nothing

He is playing quite well overall, his goals and assists in the league have dropped off but that coincided with Raphina, Lewa and a few others getting fit so he has largely been coming on in the second half, often when the game is done and dusted and they are just killing time. I would not want him back but I think he is doing enough to earn a move somewhere at the end of the season, even if Barca don't pay up. If Flick stays I imagine something will be worked out as he seems to appreciate what he offers in squad depth being versatile enough to play as a forward or a winger and he has been careful to toe the line in terms of not moaning about minutes.

He’s basically been a sub option since the new year. You can’t expect him to light things up on reduced minutes. Only had one full 90 all year.

To be fair I agree with you. I don’t expect Marcus to light things up either. But he’s been doing quite well. Probably €30m worth of well.
If he agrees to a wage cut, I’m sure they will pay for him. They don’t really have proper backups for Yamal or Raphinha right now. It looks like his teammates like him, and he’s definitely made an impact when Raphinha's injured.

It would be cool if he stayed there and did really well (but not against us!) I just don't think his attitude is intense enough for the pl but he's a really good player if he can ever sort that out for longer than a month here and there. I don't think he'll come back here but surely it's going to become a topic of conversation if Carrick stays on and his value has tanked more or less. I wouldn't be suprised if Carrick would take him back and play him a lot

He is done here decision to cut ties wasnt just Amorim's alone it was more or less decided by Club don't think Carrick or New coach Will have any say in that .

Even if Barca don't buy him we Will just continue to loan him till his contract runs out .

I am so annoyed with him and his contribution here. I am beginning to think sell or have as a super sub. Only two options no more loans. He can’t stink out our place anymore because we just play Cuhna or Dorgu and if he actually wants a game he has to fight for every minute.

La Liga 3 goals and 6 assists in 1141 mins, thats 126 mins per G+A.
In Champions league 5 goals and 3 assists in 464 mins, 58 mins per G+A.

94 mins per G+A in League and CL. Thats a very good return.

My point is hes not suddenly become a world beating superstar since hes left. He was decent for us and is a decent option for Barca. Hes not worth bringing back on mega wages with the additional circus round him, he's nowhere near good enough to justify that.
If he was on an average wage, kept his head down and was hard working then he would be a good bench option for us but thats not the state of play so can people move on and look forward not back

I still think this was the right move for him and for Manchester United. At Manchester United he was always expected to carry the team. Being a super sub also really seems to suite him, this way no one will noticed if he looks gased after 30 Minutes. On top of that it probably helps to play in a league where the average team is a bit weaker compared to the PL. Now Barca just needs to cough up the money.

I've heard this one a lot, and while I don't disagree that overall he shouldn't have had so much expectation on him, in no way was he expected to carry the team - unless we're just ignoring the existence of Bruno?

Meh. The context is playing for a team that shits all over opposition teams most weekends and has scored 57 goals already this season. I’m sure every other Barca attacker has similar stats.

Not to mention that 8 goals by the end of January is by no definition a “good return” for a player who is supposed to be an elite goalscorer. At any club. Rasmus Hojlund has scored 9 goals so far this season.

21 G+A by end of Jan as a squad player is a very good return. He has third best Mins per G+A too.

Im sure Hojlund is nowhere near that
