Marcus Rashford deals with the naysayers and slaggers

  • The day many of you wished for has finally come - Match Day Score Predictions are no longer restricted to just 5 goals... *

    * The timing of this change is purely coincidental and has nothing to do with any perception of underperformance by any team in recent matches or fan pessimism, justified or otherwise, for future matches. (Probably).

Sorry if I don't excited by the same rhetoric we've heard plenty of times before. Stop strolling around with zero effort and maybe your words might carry some credibility.

Is that Scott Mctominay standing behind him in that pic on the right?

Talk is cheap.

We all know a lot of the press stuff is nonsense. He just needs to develop a thicker skin and ignore all that shit.

When he starts showing up on the pitch and performing to a higher more consistent standard rather than strolling round doing the same stupid things over and over then he can start to avoid criticism for his football.

I think Rashford is our most important player personally. If he's in good form we win, but unfortunately he's not in good form so we're not. He does need to work on the defensive side of his game though, he's not playing in the park with his mates. When Saint-Maximin nutmegs you you can't just stand there and watch, you've got to sprint back and do your best to stop him advancing further. It's not acceptable to not show any fight like that.

I've always backed him but he needs to show it on the pitch, and that is what he is essentially saying.

I don't want to see him just standing there after a player has gotten past him, like the other day. That was so bad.

For me he can continue to perform as poorly as he likes on the pitch as long as his social media posts remain top notch.

That's where the real goals are scored.

Let's hope he shuts you up then and fires us into the 4th round.

Rashford's form will return. He's too good of a player to carry on the way he has. What's happened to him I don't know but this isn't the same player he was.

Definitely don't think all the Martial fanclub constantly going in on him is helping the situation.

It’s quite pathetic we have fans applauding players internet game now as opposed to their actual game..

When the fans care more about social media posts than performances then it's no surprise we're miles away from winning anything. Fifteen years ago I thought it was City who would become a joke of a club run by the players, not United.

He should save him PR team a lot of work and put in some half decent performances on the pitch.

Empty words from these underperforming primadonnas mean absolutely nothing. They've been having it far too easy for far too long and it's time to meet fire with fire. Perform on the pitch or get the feck out of the club.

I think that the most important part of an apology is the unspoken implication that this won’t happen again or at least that you will try your best to ensure that this doesn’t happen again.

Can we say that Rashford has never had a top coach coaching him before?

Broke through under LVG and he may have been good for his early development but was largely out of touch with the modern game.

Mou has never really been able to develop young talent

OGS wasn't a specialist either.

Meanwhile Sterling was transformed from a decent player under Pellegrini to almost World Class by Pep.

Just a shame he's been absolute rubbish for a good two years.

Maybe we can make him a club ambassador rather than insist on playing him all the time.

Think it's best on both sides to just stop talking. As he says himself the only way to prove it is on the pitch.

We can slag him off all day long, he can defend himself, nothing will help or change. He just needs to do his best and perform.

As others have stated though, I think he's been allowed to get away with 'cheating' far too long under Ole and it's now biting him in the ass.

Maybe it's a psychological thing with all his injuries recently, but the lack of defensive work isn't being covered up by his attacking output right now.

See the problem I find with Rashford and Maguire is that they think posting something on twitter makes everything better.

I mean I must have seen posts from him and Maguire about 10 times about "show on the pitch", "we need to do better" but it never happens.

It gets to a point like, no one believes you anymore. Stop tweeting, start playing.
As far as I can tell, it's his first tweet of the year and addresses why he hasn't been on SM that much lately. He seems to be suggesting exactly what you are saying that talk is cheap. I had a scan down through his timeline and I can't see anything references to footballing performances, mea culpas or must-do-betters in the past month so I don't your point about Rashford really holds up at all.

True however attitude has nothing to do with coaching. I doubt that Mou/Ole told him to jog around instead of running

Yay another thread on Rashford, and how his branding team posts stuff on the internet on his behalf.

Marcus you are judged on what you do on the pitch by the fans. Decent body language and effort are the minimal requirements not what your marketing team posts out on social media.

then you have people on here posting threads like this because they think its this social media posting (not posted by him actually) which cuts it. All we care about is the performances. Harry, Marcus ask your PR teams to stop posting and just try on the pitch

That's 2 this season already, also I would like to refer you back to his interview after the Europa league final.

Its literally the same thing over and over again, how many times do we hear, we need to bounce back without bouncing back?

It's not even about performing in the sense of scoring goals or making great dribbles, anyone can have a bad day at the job. It's the lack of commitment, not running, not pressing, not even looking the slightest bothered about getting the ball or putting it in the right place instead of losing it. Just being lackluster. There's no excuse for that.

I love rashford, but since he came back his attitude this last month been really poor.

Don't know if it's lack of confidence, or he beating himself up because he knows he playing terrible, but the body language and effort no where near what you expect from him.

Hopefully he can turn it around.

Massive issue for us this year is our much touted attacking options, barely any of them are playing well at all.

Greenwood was, but then other players came back and he getting played no where were he should be playing and it's affected him too.

Why is Ronaldo okay with half the less defensive stats than Rashford?

Ah now. Two tweets in Oct and he's literally done what you seem to be asking between now and then.

Also what do you expect from an interview after a defeat in a final?

Fair enough if you want to criticise the club's PR strategy and constant guff but honing in on Marcus in particular seems quite odd to me.

This thread better be a parody.

The only thing Rashford has 'dealt with' is inflating his ego.

This is only about him as a footballer but frankly I don't care about the rest as it stands. If you want a profile in politics, go do that otherwise make sure you are first and foremost a model professional on the pitch.

Wait, Sterling is nearly WC? Maybe to non City fans but go ask any City fan their opinion on Sterling or go and read his player performance thread on any City forum and I think you'll find most of them see him as their Rashford.

All this media crap!! It's a load of bollocks!! Until he shows some effort and walks of the pitch with a bit of pride in what he has done. I'm sorry but he has lost me.
They seem to take us for absolute morons with the media crap they come out with.

Yes, go check how many games he has played. If I go back to last season, I could find more tweets but as you said, you only found 1 for this year...

I mean literally everytime we lose its the same shit... we need to do better but even the next games where we win, we dont play well.

I am asking for them to do what they say in their tweets and interviews, be better, improve. Show hunger. We see none of that from Rashford or Maguire.

Just now, I read Marcus Rashford's recent twitter post addressing the nonsense of those who are undermining Manchester United
through their stirring of the media and online pots.

Yet again this local lad who bleeds United and actually will stand up and take action on causes he believes in unlike so many wealthy sportspeople and celebrities
who do it for publicity and/or to minimise their taxable incomes, has shown that the almost hysterical criticism at times flung his way is not going to bring him down.
I won't reproduce it here but I just want Marcus to know that some of us do appreciate him and what he and other decent, committed players are going through.

Some of the comments on the redcafe alone have the feeling of the tabloid media, playing up events and putting controversial spins that are over the top on United's
situation. It's the right of everybody to express how they feel within the bounds of reasonable free speech, I don't deny that. However, I hope there are others on here
who support those players who are going through a tough time but are genuinely committed.

Marcus Rashford is one of them and his class will prevail but he shouldn't be subject to the kinds of attacks he has by the media, online 'experts' of all backgrounds and some United supporters.
I have immense respect for what he has done off the pitch and he deserves a lot of credit and respect for that. Sadly on the pitch he seems un-interested and lazy, I don't know why.

If he truly bleeds for the club, he has to start showing it and give everything he has. As long as the player gives it his all on the pitch the majority of fans will love him even if he has bad days.
