Most United fans would love a happy and confident Rashford to succeed and play well. We’ve seen his ability and qualities on and off the pitch…he should be a jewel in United’s crown. But at the moment he isn’t.
This apology is, like all the others from under performing players, is just baseless, empty words. Whilst an apology or explanation is all fare and well, they have to be backed up by action and commitment on the pitch, not just in training where we don’t see it but in the pitch.
Work hard, work as a team, get the players confident and happy again. Results will follow.
Sick of players coming up with explanations/excuses/sound bites. There is one way and one way only they can appease us fans and that is on the pitch.
I wish that were true.

Unfortunately we’ve got an “always knew he was shit” brigade on here who cant’t wait to pile into player performance threads whenever a player hits a poor run of form (or even a one-off poor performance). They do everything they can to denigrate a player’s previous past good performances in order to show that they are wiser and more perceptive than the rest of us. It’s absolutely infuriating and ruins any decent discussion.

Rashford’s poor form has been going on for ages though, and it’s fine to call that out. Though blaming it on his off-field activities seems a bit of a stretch. It’s more likely that he’s frustrated that injuries have brought about a permanent decline in his physical prowess, and he’s finding that hard to come to terms with.

“Apologies” on social media don’t cut any ice. Maybe players are expected to post this sort of crap by the club?

He said he didn't say anything before the tweet because the only way to prove it was by showing it on the pitch. But now that he's tweeted it, he's trying to prove it by showing it off the pitch so he can prove it by showing it on the pitch. Politics does this to people and he needs to stay away from it. If he keeps going he'll turn bald or have a shit haircut. It's inevitable.

Ah Grasshopper, you must remove your saviour of the malnourished child mantle before you don your football Grand Poohbah suit, only then will you be ready to leave the temple.

Jesus feck he should fire his PR manager.
The only god damn fecking thing he needs to do is somehow gain some football intelligence and put some effort in, and, most importantly, shut his mouth and play the game at a decent level.

The only value in that post is for him and his social media credibility. A post like that in the recent scenario where half the team leaked to the press that they're not happy just screams of "hey boys, it wasn't me".

I don't care what he says about loving the club or trying hard to be honest. It's so diluted it just annoys me each time now.

Definitely don't think all the Martial fanclub constantly going in on him is helping the situation.
Such a weird thing to say when 99% of this forum doesn’t even rate Martial but some people can’t defend one player without getting onto another.

Let's hope he shuts you up then and fires us into the 4th round.

Rashford's form will return. He's too good of a player to carry on the way he has. What's happened to him I don't know but this isn't the same player he was.

Definitely don't think all the Martial fanclub constantly going in on him is helping the situation.
i’d need to see some of that fire martial has in his belly when he’s playing in rashford before i switched allegiance or modified my home made antony tattoo.

He's had more apology tweets than goals this season.....

Dealing with the naysayers and slaggers I think not.

Maybe if he’s as good with his football as he is with his words/social media then people will get off his back. Right now he’s being rightly criticised for his performance on the pitch.

Marcus Rashford deals with the naysayers and slaggers who suggest that he needs to perform on the pitch instead of talking a good game....by talking a good game and continuing his poor form on the pitch.

What has happened to the world when people place more value in what you say in a hundred word social media post than what your actions actually are. I know that this is the modern world where billion dollar companies support BLM whilst taking advantage of borderline slave labour to make their products and people lap it up but come on.

The vast majority of United fans want Rashford to succeed. He's clearly a top lad but we aren't stupid. We are football fans who support a football club and your performances on the pitch are what we care about. Do your talking on the pitch and people will love you even more.

Can we say that Rashford has never had a top coach coaching him before?

Broke through under LVG and he may have been good for his early development but was largely out of touch with the modern game.

Mou has never really been able to develop young talent

OGS wasn't a specialist either.

Meanwhile Sterling was transformed from a decent player under Pellegrini to almost World Class by Pep.
Quite liked how Mourinho used Rashford and Martial initially, thought having them compete for one spot worked quite well.

This is true of the whole team though. They have all been doing it and all been poor. Only the goalkeeper can hold his head up high.

Rashford seems to be the target now for the Ole outers now they can't blame the manager.

Where the grass is greener.
Anyone still reading and putting weight into footballers social media posts need their head examining. They all need to keep quiet and show improvement on the pitch.

I've seen a few ex players hit out at Rashford today & footballers in general for making posts like these.

The best way to respond is on the pitch, not making meaningless statements before and after poor performances imo

His public image is carefully managed and controlled, a person who hasnt responded suddently tweets about performance concerns is a result of big data analysis report completed by his management firm. Rashford will be an estimeed client for his management, because of his MBE and all the charity (organised probably by the same management ) he has done. So anything which creates bad reputation will be shut down or a better political story will be dished out soon. Just wait for him opening or talking about a new charity soon in the media.

Agree with this, especially when it is the nth time already. Words need to translate to actions on the pitch, which we haven't been seeing in quite a while. Same goes for the other players.

All in all actions speak louder than words.

Ole outers, Martial fans, Tories… you know people are allowed to not rate a player without an agenda?? You call other people fanboys but this is proper fanboy behaviour

I wish all these apologies came on the pitch and not on social media. If you can't work hard , if you can't complete a simple 50 yard pass there is something seriously wrong.

biggest worry is he seem to have lost interest in football and doesnt even chase back lost ball these days. Too much of off-field work is impacting his playing career I guess, was it David Bentley who lost interest or claimed he played football with no love or interest for the game?

You were wrong on the previous manager, you are wrong here as well. Learn from your mistakes because denying reality doesn't change it.

I don’t like the way he seems to sulk, even when he scores he doesn’t smile, then you read his social media posts about pride of playing for the club etc. as someone else mentioned, he thinks he’s bigger than he is. Unless he picks it up this season I’d sell him.

What I would really like to see is him dealing with his work rate and decision making.

I’ve began to just ignore these social media posts by the players. Supporters don’t want to see social media posts written by their PR team, they want to see hard work and performances on the pitch. Marcus, for all his incredible ability, has not done that.

I think Rashford is disillusioned with the game.
He'll retire before he hits 30.
Unfortunately I think you might be right!

Marcus's on the pitch performance has been well below his previous standard, his off the pitch involvement with 'other things' gives you the impression he is a young man who wishes he were somewhere else.
I hope he can get through this period in his life without making any wrong decisions, but its not looking hopeful.

I've been thinking something recently -

How so many of our fans complain of our players mood and sour faces they pull when things don't go right.

Yet our fans are not sitting there in front of a TV looking happy with bright faces as we lose points and matches are we?

Hang on, is it a crime to deny press rumours and say you're committed to the club now? You lot are very confusing.

Well he needs to start playing better. If he is on the bench, doesn't play for England and eventually moves to a smaller club than all of his other side projects will wither. He should understand that football gave him his platform and that platform could fall apart quickly.

like everyone else, he does everything for publicity as well. He might be gunning for some public office in future, who knows? What matters to United fans is how he is delivering on the pitch, which is absolute rubbish tbh.

Suppose it's different considering they're the ones who are paid millions and are responsible for are frowns, will say though there is this weird fascination around facial expressions that I've not got round to figuring out. Never understood how when the camera would pan to Ole at games the match day thread would be pages full of people going on about his smile, so wierd.

A local red who bleed for the club and committed and blah blah but his work rate seriously declined before he's even 25? Attitude issue?

Would do everything for the club except...working hard?

I wish that were true.

I would say I am one of his biggest critic recently. But I want nothing more than a fully committed, motivated Rashford to finally reach his potential.

I don't think "always knew he was shit", but also for me, he was never world class (which is fine because he's still young and there are very few 22 year old world class), so he need to improve big time, not just coming back to form but actually improve. With his salary/status he needs to be world class, but I don't think he improved much last 2 years.

How about just work hard and show some spirit?

Roy Keane and Rooney etc doesn't look happy when we are losing either, but they still fight. It's different than sulky and has an attitude like Rashford.

A lot of people still doesn't rate Fred, but his work rate and fighting spirit is undeniable. Which is why his latest post is well received while the 2 copy cat posts from Rashford and Maguire attract criticism.

tbf can get why people have their panties in a bunch about this because it's not like it's the 1st time he's done this but does seem Rashford's getting the shitty end of the stick on most things recently.
