Marcus Rashford | to redeem or not?

Isn’t that the same with anyone though? You can be struggling with something in your life. You can work to turn that around but you still surely thank those who helped you get through that difficult period as well? I suspect you’d be a lot more critical if he’d posted a self-congratulatory post instead.

As I said when he left, it was best for all parties that he moved on. I don't really begrudge him the chance to have success elsewhere, he's capable enough to earn it.

Whether he thanks United or not, I honestly don't care, he is essentially the past. I can understand why people are pissed off. I don't share in it though.

Clearly has beef with the club going off his latest social media post.

Nothing wrong with that for me. England NT and those 2 clubs giving him chance, United decided to get rid. He loves United as football club no doubt.

The sooner we completely cut ties with this circus the better.

I don’t want him back. But what exactly would he thank Manchester United for within the context he spoke on?

The circus will just move onto someone else I reckon, because part of it is the fanbase.

There are many in the fan base who support Rashford, or have no problem with him, but will look at that message and find it snide/unnecessary. Not everything is toxicity.

without going overboard, it’s petty from him. I’m sure he’s got Emery and Flicks phone numbers. It’s a bit of a shit stir. I think him and his camp enjoy it tbh

Will laugh if Barca don’t sign him - bigged himself up so much now that it would be amusing to see him scrambling around after the World Cup

If Barca really really wanted him then they would have sealed the deal by now….he is their fallback option if they can’t get other targets

Nar, anyone with half a brain understands that message is exactly as intended. After a big fall out with Amorim and a long time out of the England squad, Villa and Barça gave him a great opportunity to get to the World Cup.

Of course it’s toxic to try and twist those words.

I’m done with him as a footballer. Probably more than most in this thread. But even I can’t find any reason to take offence here. He’s thanking everyone he’s worked with since being dropped from the England squad, after getting back into it. Are people seriously annoyed that Amorim didn’t get a mention?!? Because that’s the only name missing.

What I find weird is the "When things got tough"... As if he didn't have any responsibility for why things got tough.

That’s some leap.

Things obviously got tough, I’m not sure what you wanted him to say? ”Things got tough which I blame myself for?”.

It’s a blanket statement, things got tough with Amorim and the following clubs and managers deserve a thank you from him for this call up.
What is wrong with some of you?

The post is a bit petty from him really, but it would have been weird to thank us. He should have just steered clear of it

Either way, not sure why he could possibly be resentful towards us. He had all the chances in the world and lived on borrowed time far longer here than he would have at any other club.

He’s not even slightly resentful though, he says he’s still United fan all the time.

And why should he steer clear of thanking the two managers and clubs that have made his WC dream possible after his former manager said he’d prefer to play his goalie coach?

Just the kind of instagram dramaqueenery that makes you glad we got rid.

Kin ell, we’ve just had Maguire crying before the squad was announced and his brother talking shit about him being left out. If we’re talking ”dramaqueenery”.

Rashford has simply thanked the managers and clubs that are responsible for his WC dream.

Sadly yes, over the last decade there's always 3-4 bad apples that folk insist we need to get rid of to get back to the top. But as soon as we get rid of them, then someone else becomes the bad apple.

Indeed.

It’ll be this way until we win a title most likely, then, all the bad apples will have been banished, until of course we have a bad season again.

I hate all these selection reaction messages and videos anyway. Since when has it been a thing?

Some players manage to win World Cups and don’t gush like Gwyneth Paltrow because of it.

Can't say I blame him to be honest. Rightly or wrongly Ineos pretty much wanted him out from day 1.
Rashford’s problems stem from Ten Hag’s initial appointment. Getting caught going on benders didn’t help either, and there’s more evidence of unprofessional behavior. So he hardly helped himself at United. I think Rashford has to take some accountability himself.
I think going to Barcelona has done him a world of good, less distractions with the food & weather over there ;)

Diallo and Mbeumo need to be very careful about what they wear/where they hang out if they don’t start next season better than they finished this one!

Yeah I’ve had my fill of him in a United shirt but the reactions to this from United fans is proper storm in a teacup stuff.

Because his performance and attitude was shit, combined with being one of the highest earners at the club.

There’s been no agenda against the fecker, it’s just Trump level of delusion in terms of re-writing the facts.

Plenty of footage of the sulking fecker strolling around while the oppo stroll, past him. Was fine leading up to contract renewal of course then went back to his self entitled ways. Good riddance. Barca haven’t exactly been begging him to join. Didn’t exactly set Villa on fire either… oh, forgot about the two goals he scored vs Preston.

Rashford has great talent.

People seem to forget how God awful, selfish and lazy he was in his final couple of years for us.

It's not a game of heroes and villains. Players can be good and still perform badly.
And they are judged in performances, not on "we know he's good, let him sulk and feck the team up for 20 games because he might eventually do something".

Work hard or go home, he clearly didn't want to work here anymore.

Presumably he's mentioned Villa because they've just got into the CL and therefore likely have money and he needs/wants out of United so why wouldn't you butter up a potential suitor? Whether it's someone willing to pay his transfer fee or bargaining up whatever wage he might be offered then it can only help him (and consequently us).

Does fecking with someone have a different meaning these days? Or does the guy think they're being sarcastic?
In this context it doesn’t mean what you think it means. It means ‘having anything to do with him’. You might say ‘Bruno doesn’t feck with Rashford any more’ and mean Bruno steers clear of him. So this means the opposite.

He wasn't first choice at Villa, hasn't been at Barcelona. I'm not sure they've really done for him what he's thinking.

I don't think he'll start for England either.

I think he's scraped his way in there on status, just being at Barcelona and tbf half decent output this season.
