Marcus Rashford | to redeem or not?

I think the vilification of Rashford is a bit over the top. Yes Amorim at the time saw that Rashford did not work in his system, and him going to the US for NBA was silly, but so did Cas. But Amorim system was based on a high pressure system and going man to man, which exploits Rashford laziness. However, Carrick has us mainly in a zonal 4-4-2 mid block, which suits Rashford a lot better. I know a lot see that high pressure is a modern system, but Carrick far simpler system yielded great results as we take less risk. I think Rashford can get back to his best under that.
It wasn’t just Amorim that had issues.

Seen a lot of comments about Rashford and how he has something to prove after the Barca loan and them not taking up the option to buy.

The issue I see with that is he didn’t exactly show that at the World Cup. Maybe he was told not to track back or help out, I highly doubt that but it’s possible. I don’t think he has changed and it will be more of the same old Rashy.

Would love to be proven wrong and he becomes the player of the season for us.

I really don’t want him back, for multiple reasons. But with every passing day I’m thinking we’re fecking skint, we need to keep him because ‘zirkzee’

What about going on the piss in Belfast, missing training and lying about and also partying in Manchester such that he wasn't training well or performing on the pitch?

It’s going to be an absolute disaster. No matter how much some people want it to be a success, it won’t be. Lazy, soft mentality. Won’t consistently press like Carrick system demands. No more than rejecting offers for Mount this summer, this is going to be a ridiculous decision if he’s kept. That’s my opinion anyway.

If we want him rid that bad we can pay out his contract in full. It's really that simple

If he has an ounce of character about him he'll play for Carrick.... sad thing is that thats actually the big question about him.

If any other United player did that, like Giggs, Keane, McGrath, Robson, Sherringham, Ferdinand, Pallister, Sharpe, Rooney or George Best, they wouldn’t be allowed to walk on the streets of Manchester again.

Photographed being on the champagne. Hopefully he's getting all the boozing out the way now whilst he has a few days holiday left.

Can someone explain to me what’s going on in this picture? Explain it like I’m seventy.
He is drinking champagne on a boat with a bunch of attractive women. I assume there is music blaring on a nearby speaker, and that one woman isn't just shaking her arse as a reaction to Marcus' charisma.

Every single one of those players mentioned left everything on the pitch every game so nobody cared what they got up to off the pitch

Model professional.
I don't know what Carrick is thinking bringing this turd back into the fold, but can't help to feel it is huge mistake. Rotten apples should be thrown in the bin, because they will spoil the good ones around them also.
Having to watch him again in United shirt is disgusting.

If he stays, is he the backup 9?

I think it’s somewhat preferable if he keeps Zirkzee out of the team vs Dorgu.

Also different times. At least for some of them.

You could drink, stay out and still perform.

Game has changed. We will, and should, definitely care what they do outside because it will affect pitch performance. You cannot be world class anymore by giving your all. You need to focus on getting your all to the highest standard. I hope we agree that this wasnt the case 15-20+ years ago given the stories of how some of them lived

In this case, rashford, he has enough time to get into shape. I just dont get the focus. But, being happy is of course also something.

So tielemans, lammens cut their leave short post world cup and returned to pre season training early.

Rashford......
Not a big fan of Rashford but still I wouldn't believe anything published by Shit-Stirring Sun .

Rashford......
Who hasn't played for us for over a year and has to have a face to face with Carrick before we even know if he'll play for us again. What's he supposed to be doing?

Let the man live...

I don't want him back but it's weird how fans expect players to never have fun in their life. Just work and bleed for the club, nothing else.

I’m neither in my 20s nor a millionaire, but it just looks exhausting. I would be having anxiety that we had enough water on board to stave off dehydration. Heaven knows what the noise decibel levels are like with whatever music they’re playing that you can’t escape. My iWatch would be spitting feathers

Agreed, I don’t think we are signing anyone else. Club seem content with the business so far and with the squad we have.
Even if Zirkzee is to leave, I don’t believe he will be replaced, unless a loan option is available. Araujo from Barca would have been a nice addition, same with Endrick if he can be loaned would be an interesting option to have in the squad.

It would be nice if he ever bled for the club.

Essentially, it boils down to his enormous contract.
Which isn’t really his fault, I mean, he just agreed to it, who wouldn’t?
If he was on 100k per week people would probably ignore that sort of stuff because the expectations would be different.
But, if you’re on 350k per week, and you’re not performing like literally one of the best players on the planet then you’re going to get criticized, for everything, think its normal.

I’m not saying he shouldn’t have fun, but its just a result of what he costs the club vs what he brings to the team.
If I was in Rashford’s position I would be having fun too, but I’m not a professional footballer who is supposed to be trying to get his career on track, I wouldn’t want to be a professional footballer, because I like fun.
But even as much as I like to party, if I just got dumped by Barcelona for my NT teammate, I would probably keep it low during the summer and work on my game.

Rashford isn’t the only one to blame, the club is at massive fault for making him the face of the club from a very young age and thus pushing his brand, a privilege that in the past at United belonged to players like Best, Robson, Cantona, Giggs, Beckham, Ruud, Rooney and Ronaldo.
Rashford was never that level of talent, the club tried doing that with Mainoo 2 years ago as well, its not good.

How does that change anything? Does his season start soon or not? Is that the attitude you want to see from your players?

I saw exactly the same, odd flash of potential against generally abject 'performances'.

Like he's there, but not there.

I still can't see him coming back, I think the re-integration noise could be an attempt to pull at least some interest (after the bomb squad years).

There's nothing in re-integration for us, has he a year left on his contract? Then what?

Bit weird he's off on holiday with under two weeks left before the season kicks off and he's had no preseason, and he hardly ran himself in to the ground for England. But I wouldn't expect anything less from him

Hopefully he fecks off before the window shuts
