First time i have seen players just giving him the ball just because of his sheer presence.

I have told everyone that whoever England plays will automatically make them look better than they really are.
I really don't think Fellaini was that great it's more how shite England is.

Not gonna bore everyone with a load of passing stats this time? Funny that.
If you think 38 passes with 79% accuracy and 2 key passes is particularly worthy of discussion, why dont you post them?

Apparently listing 2 positives and 1 negative isnt enough for some people.

Personally I thought Tielemans was Belgium's best player, doing as much on the ball whilst also making 4 tackles. But other than that Fellaini was probably Belgium's 2nd best player and had a good game

He's not flashy but often times a player that's hard to deal with. Once He goes forward someone has to mark him but He's really hard to mark due to his physicality and afro. If you mark him, you're freeing up the other player and will most likely lose in the air, if you don't He's free to do whatever He wants.

Reading the reactions on transfer thread over the last 48 hours, if one had never seen him play, you'd imagine him a 3rd division player who's favourite passtime was publicly wiping his backside on the Man Utd badge.
Then you actually see todays game and see quickly why Mourinho likes him.
To be fair if someone had never seen Fellaini play and read any of his threads on here. Going off the extreme opinions found in them they could be forgiven for thinking he's either a poor man's Lee Cattermole or Keane and Zidane's love child.

He's a perfectly fine squad player. People are far too critical. Good game against England.

But mostly it's the afro that makes him a difficult problem to deal with.

Not too fused about him signing a new contract. Wouldn't mind if he's like 4-5th choice CM for us.

Imagine if He's playing for Atletico Madrid, has a man bun instead of afro and is fluent in Spanish. He would cost at least 60 million.

Well how hard is to have an okay game against the daft english side southgate lined up with? He should leave anyway, we could use other more talented players as squad players

So then as a squad player he’ll be useful against the same premier league players during our campaign? Some of you really do lack perspective.

Will you still say the same if god forbid Pogba does his ACL first game of the season, and then suddenly we are using this guy in the first team. We had the opportunity to offload deadwood on a free, and Utd still couldnt get that right

Because Jose don't see the player as deadwood? He wants the player to sign and Woodward offered him contract.

Also Fellaini is far from deadwood when Jose trusts him and plays him. Players like Darmian, Blind are deadwood as they don't play but get good pay.

Most football fans tend to overrate player who can dribble with the ball and fast ,basically same as when they play FIFA or PES. These kind of fans will always see him as Hoofball player and will never see the value he brought to the team . Real football isn't FIFA, there is no need for 11 players to have same trait.

I think a very relevant point is that Belgium use him where he's at his best. Which is as someone supporting the striker, just like how he was at his best at Everton supporting the striker. He did that for Belgium in a front 3 with Batshuayi and Januzaj and he wasnt asked to defend much or loiter around his own box where clumsiness can cost them. I'm all for us using him the same way occasionally when needed. Just not as a holding CM.

Probably should start ahead of Witsel, anyway.
It took some time for a part of the Belgian media, but now they are finally convinced that Witsel is by far the best 6 in the team.
Coaches (managers) who worked with him consider him to be a tactical genius, he has a lot more than an average skillfulness and he is so strong.
When the players are talking about tactics, they are mainly listening to him because of his view on the game.

Would be the wrong decision and it’s one managers consistently make with Fellaini, it simply isn’t his position.

Too often he plays too deep or too far forward, he just doesn’t have the skill set for those roles. He gets shoe horned into the team or to do a job and that’s why he’s been so inconsistent for 5 years and why so many fans get fed up.

He looked better last night because he had two midfielders alongside him, freedom to play his natural game and he could arrive late into the box which is how he scores a lot of his goals rather than being stood there with if being hoofed up to him.

He was a stupid signing and Everton was his level in terms of playing week in week out but ic he had been used in his best position since he joined I think he would have had a better career at the club.

No way. Witsel is the only 6 in their team and he's hugely important in allowing the likes of De Bruyne and Hazard playing their game. Fellaini's spatial unawareness and constant runs to the box will make them all cover for him.

If you say so. Not a Witsel fan. Don’t rate Fellaini either, fwiw.

I'm not his biggest fan either, but he is by far the best Belgian player for that role. Hence why he's playing despite preliminary retiring to China.

If Mourinho is the one who has been pushing for this guy to stay as he says he has, then it is clear to me that the system/tactics will not change next season. This means we can again get used to setting up matches not to concede and watching horribly outdated tactics and hoof ball when we are behind. Either Mourinho wins the EPL next season or Woodward has to relieve him of his duties. Either way we are stuck with this shIt stain for another 3 years. Terribly sad day for fans who pay decent money home and away to be entertained,
