Decent player but I don't think he will make Arsenal a better team. Maybe their warchest is filled so they still have plenty left to spend but until they sign a world class striker they won't move to the next level.
Makes sense, so it's a bit strange some are bemoaning the fact we haven't signed anyone when we don't know yet which market we will be even shopping in.
As we have already lost the league and nothing more left in the season. I'm sure you'd be the same if you had nothing leftWhile I'm not particularly envious of them buying Zubimendi, I am envious that they are getting business done early.
Until the signing is announced officially, this is just a rumor, nothing more.Great signing for them. They clearly have bigger needs at both CF and LW but it's probably the 3rd biggest are for them. If they got a quality CF and someone like Williams at LW then they have a great chance next season.
Nobody has signed anyone yet, what are you talking about? While I'm not particularly envious of them buying Zubimendi, I am envious that they are getting business done early.
Yes or no, do we have a history of protracted negotiating in the transfer market?Nobody has signed anyone yet, what are you talking about?
Remember when he was apparently coming to Liverpool?

I never would have imagined that Gravenberch would turn to a EPL winning DM.Not so funny when you remember they won the PL without him sadly.
In an alternate reality Zubi signs for them and flops and they finish in 6th this year. They are in their luckiest phase where they get to save 51M and by dumb luck discover an existing squad option who helps propel them to a title whereas we end up paying over the odds for a sure thing and they arrive to turn into deadwood within one season.I never would have imagined that Gravenberch would turn to a EPL winning DM.
Arsenal have activated Zubimendi release clause. Bizarre you're attacking me because i would like us to be prepared for pre season.Yes
Now, same at you, who has signed anyone?
No im not attacking you personally, im just sick of reading all day “every other team are cracking on with transfers and we’re left behind”. What transfers? Nothing is completed yet, so how are other teams so far ahead? All we are seeing is rumours and ‘updates’ which most of the time are shit.Arsenal have activated Zubimendi release clause. I think Arteta wanted him, it has been suggested that part of the reason Zubimendi backed out of joining Liverpool was not only loyalty to Sociedad after Merino left but because there was an understanding that Arsenal would be in for him this summer. Arteta is a Sociedad old boy so the connection does make sense.Curious if this is a Andre Berta initiated potential transfer or Arteta driven. Arteta wanted Luis Campos (PSG) as the new Sporting Director. The club chose Berta.
Sporting Directors normally want their own guy in the dugout after awhile.
Thanks for that. That's interesting. Arsenal have been linked with Sesko for a long time. Funnily enough, I was talking to a arsenal fan this morning at work, who said on their forums there is a preference for Sesko over Gyokeres as the former would be a better fit apparently.I think Arteta wanted him, it has been suggested that part of the reason Zubimendi backed out of joining Liverpool was not only loyalty to Sociedad after Merino left but because there was an understanding that Arsenal would be in for him this summer. Where I do hear there is some disconnect with Berta is over Gyokeres. Arsenal have been working on a deal for Sesko for a long time now and he is admired by Arteta but Berta has effectively hit pause on that deal to pivot to Gyokeres and the gossip is that Arteta is not exactly sold on this but is being overuled.
Are you purposely ignoring that we are close to signing Cunha already, actually we are closer than they are to signing Zubimendi. While I'm not particularly envious of them buying Zubimendi, I am envious that they are getting business done early.
Arsenal did not btw. Latest rumors is we're trying to negociate a fee slightly higher than the clause to pay it in installments and have cash to buy other players. No im not attacking you personally, im just sick of reading all day “every other team are cracking on with transfers and we’re left behind”. Speaking of updates, where have you see that Arsenal have activated his clause?
That’s what I thought. Another poster shitting pants early. It’s still MayArsenal did not btw. Latest rumors is we're trying to negociate a fee slightly higher than the clause to pay it in installments and have cash to buy other players.
I think the mini-transfer window for the Club World Cup is overblown, Real will get their defenders and maybe Bayern but i can see everyone else waiting as usual.
We should have 3 signings announced by now, we are in danger of having to give Lindelof another 5 year deal. That’s what I thought. Another poster shitting pants early. It’s still May

They used to maybe they will go back to it.To me he's one of those players who needs to be in a possession focused system to thrive, which Arsenal don't really play.

Late August swoop for Rashford on loanHave been very underwhelmed whenever I've seen him. Also his fbref stats are pretty shit. Think he'll end up being a bench player. For the life of me I can't understand why they went so hard for another deep midfielder rather than put all their focus to address their need up top.

Nah, I think he'll displace Partey very quickly, who hasn't had the legs for the defensive side of the position for about two years now.
Zubimendi isn't going to be making many team of the year selections but he's the type of player that makes everything about his side work a little better and who is consequently rated highly by every manager and all his teammates. This was a good very in depth profile.
Arsenal obviously still need to make attacking signings and that's the biggest need of the summer. But there has never be any indication that this is an either/or situation, the club has the money to sign Zubimendi and two high cost attackers this summer.
See I think Partey is generally a better/more progressive player than Zubimendi on the ball and that the midfield of Partey and Rice lacks creativity anyway. I think he'll be a solid squad player but nothing more than that, doesn't really change anything for arsenal and what I'd expect you to do with or without him.Nah, I think he'll displace Partey very quickly, who hasn't had the legs for the defensive side of the position for about two years now.
