Didn't watch the game, but every set of fans seem to think Sky commentators favour their rivals at the expense of their own team.

Didn't think he was too bad during the Liverpool game. During the World Cup he was flat to start with, but got going as the tournament went on.

I don't really get what you're trying to say here. In Germany and Spain there are no good commentators or pundits around?
And newspapers like Bild (equivalent to the Sun in GB) have what influence exactly?
What I'm saying is that Sky have pumped a lot of money into football. Their standard of commentating/punditry is/should be a lot higher than other leagues because they can simply get the best pundits/analysts around. Sky's revenue is a lot higher than those abroad. Now, obviously the Spanish equivalent of Martin Tyler wouldn't work for Sky because he'll be commentating in Spanish for a Spanish based TV channel, but you'd expect in situations like that they don't care if they're partisan. Less money, less revenue, less viewing figures. It'd be like fan-zone that Sky did a few years ago. Sky is meant to be the pinnacle of TV viewing. HD, 3D, Jamie and Gary, the tech etc.

And following on from that, watch a Real/Barca game on Sky Sports 5 and see how many replays they'll show for a Real Madrid/Barca player falling in the box trying to hint that it should be a penalty. I remember one game earlier on the season and Marcelo took a tumble in the box, they showed the replay 8 times. Sky is buying the rights to broadcast that game, it's not their own camera.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but that's my opinion. What I'm trying to say, badly, is that there is less objectivity in football abroad than there is here. I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing. What I do know is Martin Tyler irritated me to no end last night (special mention to Mike Summerbee covering the derby a couple of years back).

The reason I mentioned AS, Marca and Bild is because, from my own perspective, these media mouthpieces have lot more influence over the way teams are perceived in those countries, and have a lot more sway than their equivalents do here (if they do have equivalents). I don't know a lot about Bild, but I didn't think it'd be the equivalent of the Sun.

I don't think I explained my reasoning as well as I could have, but I hope you get my drift.

Not really, he anticipates the moment when we look like conceding late on in a game that he finds it difficult to contain himself. He gears himself up waiting for the opposition to capitalise and then relates it back to our defensive problems, but he does that mostly with every team that have a predictability about them. He creamed himself in elation with that 1st Vargas equaliser on sunday.

What annoyed me was ow he kept praising the liverpool fans.

He said they gave Ronaldo a standing ovation, i didn't see that, I heard a lot of boo's when he was taken off, which is fair enough considering he used to play for their rival but stop trying to make out they're the best fans in the world and love seeing world clas talent!

Also Tyler was praising the fans for singing YAWN in injury time! What good is it singing in the 90th minute when the game is over if you're not gonna sing through the game. there wasn't a peep out of them all game.

I expect the English commentators to support the English teams in Europe, so I can live with that even though they didn't tend to support us as much as they love the others, but that's to be expected given the general media disdain towards us. If a side has a good story for them to tell, then they'll do their best to tell it during the match.

I've much bigger problems with commentators clearly taking sides during domestic games, particularly in the case of Tyler last season with Liverpool. I don't know if that was down to him favouring Liverpool, or if it was just him sticking to the Sky agenda of wanting Liverpool to win the league for the first time in quarter of a century (I'm sure I read from someone working for Sky that they were going massively hard on preparing for their title celebrations so I expect they were clear on the narrative well in advance of Gerrard's shinning moment). But if you are commentating on a game with two English teams (or if another English team has an interest in the game e.g. title/relegation issues) then you should be impartial in my view.

He's an anti-United fecking joke of a commentator. Abysmal performance today.

All of the following mentioned within 10 minutes of Mata's second goal:

- Liverpool have more honours than United
- This game means nothing
- Overreacting to the Jones tackle on Henderson

Granted, the first two may be true but how about a bit of fecking context you ginormous prune-faced turd? Even when we won the penalty at the end, you might as well have been telling him his cat had been run over.

He also managed to bring up the 6-0 city match.

His reaction to the penalty was ridiculous, I wasn't even sure it had been given at first because he didn't say anything, just kind of mumbled something about the referee, he didn't even say the word penalty!

He was so disappointed when Jones got a yellow. Just upset because he was never getting his GERRARRRRD moment today.

Tyler has probably just met up with pinocchio and Merson in the bar and are crying into their pints.

Do Liverpool have more honours than United? I think it's even. They have two more European Cups, we have to more league titles.

He really fecked me off today. Constantly banging on about how all our players should have been sent off and yet barely mentions the Balotelli, Skrtel incidents etc. Would happily kick his dog.

He did my head in today.

The oh no when Gerrard was shown the red card, his obvious desperation for Jones to be sent off and the penalty at the end where it seemed to take him about 45 seconds to tell the viewers we had a penalty. Total shite.

Massive bellend. First Mata goal, he was so keen to bring up the offside goal from the reverse fixture, and attempted to call today's goal as an offside one, as well.

This. I thought it had been given as a goal kick or a dive. Atrocious really!

There were comments in match thread that Neville was poor as well. Any selected quotes if some remember?
Neville called Mata's first as 'borderline'. Other than that I can't remember anything outrageous, he was just annoying. Tyler just carried on mumbling.

He's a good commentator but I wish he'd pack in his drive that the Prem is the best in everything and at every opportunity. He's wrong and it's tiresome.
