Not allowed to embed this, but it’s from Training Ground Guru, if anyone knows of it.

Martyn Pert has a Master in Sports Science and a UEFA Pro Fotball coach license. He went on a three month coaching practice at Miami Heat, went to see Bielsa in Buenos Aires (I think it was), and has been assistant manager in Vancouver and Bahrain.

We’re also said to be interviewing for a new Head of Physio.

What to make of it?

Vancouver Whitecaps. Appointment reeks of 'anyone we can get' rather than a meticulously planned decision.

I'm all for these kind of appointments (without actually knowing too much of the impact a person has or has not made).

But the question is, who are signing these guys? Meaning, are they all Ole's suggestions? If so, what happens to them when/if Ole gets the sack?

He looks like young Matthias Sammer. And no, I'm not racist by pointing out they look alike.

Which coach would you have preferred?
C'mon just be honest. This is like hiring an assistant professor for Harvard Law School, someone with few years Legal experience in Blackpool and Pattaya City.

He's worked all over the world, spent time with Bielsa as well as current Caf darling, Rodgers.
Unless you think Celtic are the footballing equivalent of Blackpool? Then this post is a little silly.
I'd rather we brought in people who are qualified and right for the job, than bring someone in who once coached at Barcelona to appease supporters like us who don't know any better.

I know nothing about individual coaches, nor do 99% of the people on this very forum.

C'mon boss. He talked to Bielsa for 3-4 hrs.
And no he didn't work under Rodger. "Brendan Rodgers comes in and brings his own people, so I go." (https://trainingground.guru/articles/martyn-pert-bielsa,-shaq-and-my-journey-in-football).

Manchester United have targeted Celtic and Scotland physio Tim Williamson as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer continues to reshuffle his backroom team at Old Trafford.

Just because some people haven’t worked for ‘glamorous’ employers doesn’t mean they have either a) had it easy or b) aren’t ready to step up.

We’ve had supposedly world-class (whatever that means) coaches before like Frans Hoek and Stefano Rapetti who seemed to have very little impact on anything, then we’ve had coaches most people would have sneered at like Steve McClaren and Eric Steele who seemed to have a very positive impact.

You apply for the job like any normal vacancy. That or people are simply headhunted through sites like LinkedIN or referred to the club by aquintances

In fact, Manhcester United are currently hiring a new Academy Physiotherapist. - https://www.manutd.com/en/club/jobs/permanent-and-temporary-opportunities

Great.

Still the same question applies, who's suggestion are these signings?
Whoever is in charge of H&R Recruitment are doing the actual signings. OGS and his staff have identified a need and wanted a new coach for that spesific role, the club then went out and recruited one after a interview process where several candidates were interviewed for the position.

OGS is the man that makes the call on all things pertinent to the backroom staff of the first team.

If Ole is fired, some will undoubtedly be let go when the new manager brings his own men in, whereas most of them will simply remain on, like head of physio etc.

Who knew we had so many experts here on back room staff.

Nobody here has a clue what impact this bloke will have on our team, just like if we'd hired some other name no one here has ever heard of but from Barcelona.

So a new turnover of staff would be needed again. Surprise surprise Ed spending more without proper planning

Smacks of disrespect. Just because he's worked with Vancouver Whitecaps = Sh*te ? - Don't be so daft.

However, seems like you're clued up on the manner, who's the best coach (from the backroom staff) that we should hire?

I guarantee you at LEAST 5-8 people were thoroughly interviewed for this position. On top of a large pile of qualified people who never reached the interview stage. What, you imagine a company with nearly $800 million USD yearly revenue hires the only guy that applies? It's fair that you don't have a sense of scale, but you have to realize that this club is enormous. Manchester United PLC has nearly 1 thousand employees.

The man was hired because he convinced the interviewer and staff that he was the right man for the job. On top of his academic credentials. So you know, get out of here with this type of nonsense.

What makes you think there wasn't planning? United have been understaffed in certain areas for a while which was identified & traininggroundguru have previously written articles about. They had interviews for a job & he was selected. That is planning. The fact that if or when a new manager comes in they usually bring some of their previous staff with them so some current staff lose their jobs is just how things are & has very little to do with poor planning & would be at a cost which is basically meaningless to a club of our size. There are plenty of things that Ed deserves abuse over but this definitely isn't one of them.
