Well, look at a player like Jackson who has speed, dribbling ability etc etc, but completely lacks composure in front of goal. The ability to score is probably the most sought after attribute in a forward, so...

Besides, he runs very well with the ball, albeit not with the speed of a young Giggs.
He's a balanced player, with a weakness I can see.

He's nowhere near Giggs in terms of speed, dribbling, close control, and general technique.

It's a shame he's being played deeper on the left rather than further forward on the right, he suits that inverted forward role on the right hand side, here he plays a traditional left winger of a 4-4-2 which is forcing him to mature his game but stifles him from his output. Always looks one of their best players in a very defensive side but not sure if his ceiling is the same as it once was, looks a bit slower and playing it too safe but may be the time he spent out the game, new league, new team-mates etc

Think there's a lot of people wanting these performances to be better than they are. Against the better sides in the league that they've played, he's not been great.

I think any determination on his abilities can come after another few months. Has to be treated like any other player trying to settle in a new league and system. He’s also playing with players of inferior quality than he’s used to, which can make top players not look as good.

Anthony comparisons are insulting. Greenwood is a much better player than Anthony...he is even better than Hojlund and I like hojlund. Greenwood is a top tier footballer...can pass, can shoot, can dribble, can link up, great movement etc. A player like him will cost in the region of 150m. He will end up at barca or madrid if he just keeps his head down and plays. After Harry Kane grows old... England fans will want him back
This is cap. He is mediocre at most of those things. Sound like you are describing Henry. His only real strength was his shooting

I thought that even at his best here at United, he could add more to his game. Primarily passing and ball retention. I think this is a good position for him to focus on that. Hopefully his goal scoring skills aren't blunted in the process.

Antony is certainly not a Baller  I don't think Antony is a travesty but he's more top 10 winger level as opposed to upper table. He has his uses and some attributes but against tougher opposition he's easily managed out the game with a little intensity and physicality.

I don't disagree with that at all, you would have put it down to naivety/ youth at that time but his use of the ball generally does seem quite strong.

Think he meant top 10 wingers named "Antony" at Manchester united and to be fair, he's got a fair shot at that claim now Elanga has left and Martial will soon also.

Fitness will take months to build especially after being out of football structure for so long. Many have suggested that we may not actually start seeing him affect games regularly until 2024 and I agree.

Some also claimed he basically would destroy the league right away, which was obvious teenage hysteria even then.

I'm glad his performances haven't warranted talk of his return. I'm sure journalists would be asking Ten Hag about his return every week if Greenwood was scoring.

He scored a brace against the worst team he's ever played against though, very likely including all his formative years too.

He's still been more effective in that lower-end, not especially sophisticated outfit (and whilst still regaining sharpness) than 2-3 extremely expensive players in our supposedly 'better' side have shown themselves to be . Just because he hasn't been dazzling doesn't mean that a number of posters prejudiced against him (who should confine themselves to the other thread where they can spout all the ressentiment and conjecture masquerading as fact they like) get to call him poor without expecting any pushback

Was quite funny when the tweets came out about his performance, people saying he's back, etc.

Apparently Paul Mitchell was at Getafe match on Monday - might not mean much, but the media reporting it as our next Head of Recruitment keeping tabs on Greenwood

Not directly related, but there is apparently real concerns within the club about Antony's current form and how that is leaving our front line imbalanced.

I have always said that if he can provide an explanation or an interview to not necessarily go right into the ins and outs of what happened in detail, but gave an insight into his life at that period of time ("I made mistakes, I have taken responsibility and life was volatile at that time on a personal and professional basis, my relationship was not stable etc..)

Then he should be coming back.

That kind of discussion is best for the other thread, in fact I wasn't sure which place was best for the news about Mitchell

Anyway Getafe play Granada on Saturday

I am sure of 2 things, one Greenwood will either score or provide an assist and Getafe will have a player sent off.

More goal contributions than all of our wingers combined while playing in an unfamiliar position after being out for 18 months.

He rarely gets the ball but every time he does he looks very dangerous. Just had a great shot which I’ve no idea how it didn’t go in
