Played a few great quick passes which will be mandatory to unlock defenses. Not all were accurate enough and for some the other players weren’t able to control them but in case he is staying fit he will become a regular starter.

It actually looked like there was something to work with out there last night, one of the very few bright(er) moments of his United career so far.

Played well, more game time and maybe this system might work out well for him.
This is his system. Requires work rate, favors players with quick thinking, and can carry the ball forward. They're all his characteristics pre injury. If he can stay fit he'd be a success.

You can see why he's a coaches player. Presses unbelievably well, and facilitate combination play.
If Bruno continue to play deep he could be a starter.

He will get plenty of chances in this system, started second half very well and then was taken off. Good decision, finally its good to see a manager who knows how to play players who recently came back from injury and rotate his squad.

Amorim will love him, was good, worked well, was all around their box and the middle, too bad he didnt get that goal, would be a beauty.

Had a bright 10 minutes I the second half prior to going off and showed some encouraging signs. Lost the ball out wide several times along with Antony in the first half and didn't quite get involved as much as you'd like, but a decent enough base to work from.

His reverse flick for Ugarte to help setup the third goal was a thing of beauty.

Hope he stays fit, could be a big player for Amorim.

A bit of a jack of all trades technically. If he stays fit he'll play a lot because of adaptability and he's one of our few smart players

He was bought as Fred and McTs replacement. We’ve actually been missing all three players since Mount came in. If he can stay fit, massive if, he’s going to be an important player for us. Hopefully he makes some of our fans eat their words but I’ve been here before with this player and I am just hoping that his injuries are actually behind him. If this is another Shaw situation then we shouldn’t hold on for as long as we need this profile to make the pockets of space tick and to lead the pressing. He’s classy.

I'll be totally honest, I just don't see it

I didn't see it under the previous manager when we were playing 4-2-3-1 with Bruno Fernandes starting every match but the two #10 roles in this system give Mount a better chance of getting into the team in his best position. He's a good athlete so as long as he can get over his injury problems, he'll get plenty of game time.

I can't understand how somebody watches last nights game and can't at least envisage him being good in that system. Strange.

For as long as we don’t buy someone better - without a doubt. And the team has more pressing needs currently, so Mount will play often if fit

I think he was average first half, and had a decent 10 minute spell in the second half against Bodo Glimt
I saw some decent things, but also there are lot of things I didn't see, and that is my issue with him. Personally I do not like number 10s who cannot hold and dribble with the ball to allow space to open, its one of my pet peeves with Bruno Fernandes, but I know he at least has really good vision and can pick a pass.
What I see from Mount is a lot of energy but limited skill with the ball at his feet, but again this was only 60-65mins in Europa League so of course the more he plays the more he can change my mind. If I'm being totally honest I'd rather see Amad in the role

he wouldnt be seen as average if he had a half decent wingback on the right instead anthony who was always slow on the ball so missed 10 chances to pass it to mount who was constantly making runs nor did he had ability/confidence to use that run for his dribbling

Sure - it's what you are not saying that is probably the issue, i.e., is a good enough footballer?

I'm not interested in blaming others for an individuals performance, I said I don't see it, and I won't be praising him till I do

He’s a good player. Just wish he had more physicality. The lack of it just makes everything a bigger effort for him.

I'm hopeful he could be a good option for us but not sure about he and Bruno together as a pair of 10s. Think either need paired with a dribbler like Amad or Mainoo, particularly when last night we had absolutely no attacking threat from the wingbacks first half.

I'm going off Bruno as a number 10 in this system. Think we need someone with a bit more composure and better in tight spaces.

I am not sure if you saw the post match analysis or not but Amorim explained this really well.

I actually disagree with you on wingbacks because we had a lot of attacking threat, Malacia was getting the ball alot in the left wing space and Antony too was getting alot of the ball, he dribbled past his opponent few times too.

With respects to the 10, Amorim mentioned why Bruno played deeper saying Bruno is not good with back to goal and is a better player facing the goal and play.

He mentioned why he loves Mount because he is a much better player, probably our best with back to goal, he likes to play one touch passes and flicks.

Amorim joining could have really saved his whole career here. I think Mount has some really positive traits but he really requires a system like this to get the best out of it whilst mitigating the shortcomings of his ability. He doesn’t fit here anywhere otherwise in a conventional formation

Mason Mount is a "proper footballer" who wants to succeed at Manchester United, says head coach Ruben Amorim.

Mount, 25, joined from Chelsea in the summer of 2023 but his time at Old Trafford so far has been hampered by injury issues.

He started against Bodo/Glimt and played for an hour of Thursday's Europa League victory.

Amorim talked about his "belief" in Mount and said of the England midfielder: "The first thing is he's working really hard. Then you have to understand the human also - he wants this really badly, and that is the most important thing.

"He has proved he is a really talented player. He was a European champion, so we believe in him a lot.

"He has to stay fit and, like all the guys in the team, they are quality players, they have to improve and believe in themselves.

"On Thursday he did a great job. You see some moments and details where you can see that Mason is a proper footballer. We believe in him a lot and I especially believe a lot in Mason."

So who are the Caf Einsteins who know better than our Gaffer eh?!

I'll stick my neck out and say he'll be our Player of the Year if he stays fit for most of it. Have a feeling he'll provide 15+ Goals and assists this year at least.

He has been very unlucky in his finishing whilst at United, hasn't he? Remember him missing an absolute sitter in pre season + some other chances last year maybe?

Not feeling it at all with Mount, he just doesn't seem like a United player to me.

He reminds me a bit of Lingard, in that the manager is seeing something very few others can.

I will support him until he’s no longer our player. There’s definitely a quality player in there, hope we’ll get to see the performance and results sooner rather than later.

Played his part in a somewhat dominant performance numbers/stat wise.

You can see he will be used regularly by the manager and his pressing and passing in the final third is going to be needed in this system.

But as always with Mount…just stay fit ffs!

It’s tempting to compare those comments with the ones Amorim made about Rashford, where he says that Rashford must want it.

I think he just strikes me as a proper system player. Reminds me of Kagawa in that way, both looking great in a system that benefits their strengths, but then looking like a bit of a fish out of water once taken out of that system. Fortunately for him Amorim's system is perfect, with practically a tailor made role for him, and I think Amorim see's that.

Yeah, the difference between how Amorim talks about Mount and Rashford is quite telling.
