He’s a good presser and keeps it tidy but seems to have lost all his attacking threat since leaving Chelsea. He’d always produce goals and assists for them on a regular basis, I’m putting that down to the constant injuries and never having had a chance to settle and really build a connection with any of his teammates since joining Utd. If we can find the Mount that helped Chelsea win the CL then we’ll have a very useful player on our hands but he simply needs to get over these injuries to have any chance of that.

Great player when fit. I'd take 11 Mounts over almost any other 11 of a single player.
You'll lose by default as you won't ever be able to field a legitimate XI though (you can't start a game with less than 7 players).

one was Chelsea player of the year twice and a regular in England 11, the other is a total prat. Not a signing I would of made but he should never be in the same sentence as lingard like
Here are their England appearances with goals in brackets. Can you tell me which one's which without googling?

32 (6) vs 36 (5)

Peak Mount was a better player but not by that much, they are comparable. That's the entirety of Lingard's career vs Mount's career up until the age of 26, mind you (realistically — 24, since he's barely even played those last 2 seasons).

Couldn't care less about his performances. As long as he's finishing games injury free, its a plus for now.

I don’t need to mate, I’m not entertaining this comparison

That's actually a good idea for a thread. If you could clone one player 11 times to make a team, who would it be?
From our current squad? You can't look past Bruno really.

All time United players who I've seen enough of though, probably Rooney. I reckon he'd make a feisty Centre Half and could throw himself around in goal.

11 RVP's would be fun.

11 Rojos Vs 11 Bailly's? Collina drafted in as emergency ref.

What thread is this again?

I would be surprised if there was anyone from our current squad other than Bruno

Bruno is the best player, but that doesn't mean 11 Brunos would make the best team!

11 Rooneys would be mental but he'd do a job in any position I reckon.

Funnily enough I think 11 Dalots would be the best team from the current lot! Not that he's the best player or anywhere near, just for his adaptability and his athleticism.

55m, honestly I can’t believe someone holding a senior position in one of the worlds biggest football clubs thought this was a fair price, especially in the last year of his contract. Completely braindead, and of course he’ll stick around a few more years collecting 200k per week as we can’t shift him.

Antony was a better signing. As was Sancho. Hell, controversial opinion - even Højlund.

We got properly done there

I’ve got sympathy for him regarding the injuries but he has no stand out qualities. He’s weak, slow, can’t finish, doesn’t create chances. I just don’t understand what the vision was for him.

Classic Mount display.

Did absolutely feck all. Ran around a lot.

Just missed him getting injured for the full vintage Mount performance. Just an utter disaster of a signing. Absolutely criminal of Utd and ETH.

Made even worse when every fan on the planet knew he was a nothing player. We've made a lot of bad signings but he is up there with the worst. As soon as you see that shirt number on the ball you know the attack is over.

Mount has the uncanny ability to play in a match and yet become totally invisible. Yes he has got decent pressing abilities but 55mil should get you more than that

Ten Hag was playing him as an 8 for the opening few games of 23/24. That was the vision, Eriksen replacement.

Just an awful awful signing. Either injured or barely affecting matches. Being the number 7 is the icing on the cake. He is competing with Sanchez for worst #7.

I know what the plan was, I just don’t understand it has he doesn’t have the tools to make good number 8. He’s too poor physically and doesn’t have good defensive instincts.

Lingard-Donny-Sabitzer-Mount

All very similar players, and it is a bit of a problem that Lingard was clearly the best of them for Utd.

Seen Hojlund branded as the worst p4p signing but surely it's this bloke 200k+ a week for someone who offers next to nothing. Absolutely horrific signing.

He will 100% be on one of those lists where we rank our terrible buys. Appalling transfer.

The first chance he got himself into a good position, only to Sky and waste it, so I get the criticism.

The second chance I really don’t. He made a good run, couldn’t get it, gets studded by the keeper. Hardly a chance awfully wasted.

didn’t see the game, only the highlights, but I was hoping he’d have a bit more of an impact on his return (goals, assists, chance creation). Everyone is aware of his injury issues and the club bringing him back slowly, but there’s not much season left.

We’re not going to find a buyer for Mount this summer. What’s best at the point is to use him as a squad for for the last few games and see if he can break through in summer friendlies.

Yes no goal or assist but did decent imo, which considering our standards is good.

Play some decent passes, was in the half spaces and go on the end of some chances.
