It’ll of been 3 seasons since Mount was any good by the end of this season.
Move him on. Admit it was a mistake.

Couple of issues with this. 1. Someone has to want to take him. 2. The player has to want to go.It’ll of been 3 seasons since Mount was any good by the end of this season.

My bold prediction is in 5/6 years he'll be playing for someone like West Ham and not doing much.
just even more expensiveIt's like Donny van de Beek all over again I feel like with Mount.
Really thought he'd do well in one of the 10s, really want the signing to work, but looks destined to fail.
Has had a number of cameos now off the bench and failed to do anything of note.
The 7 shirt really hurts as a fan.Would have been available for free within one year, had shown signs of regression, didn't suit the CM role that we were looking for and was injury prone, yet our old board and Ten Hag thought it would be a great idea to sign him for 60m, give him high salary and the no.7 shirt.
To be fair he was one of their best players, though a few of his goals/assists there came from set pieces. The system worked well for him, and think he was a bit more lean, agile and quick there compared to now.I have never understood what Mason Mount was meant to be as a player, not a midfielder, not an attacker, not impressive defensively, not impressive in terms of goals and assists. When he used to play for Chelsea I always asks, what does this guy actually do? Now that he plays for United, I still have no fecking clue. I mean he seems like a nice enough guy and I feel for him and his injuries, but I just don't understand what he brings to the pitch as a footballer.
He missed almost 2 season and rarely played a full game since he joined us.It's like Donny van de Beek all over again I feel like with Mount.

If he can stay injury free, I’d imagine next season will be a massive improvementOur best hope is that having an offseason and preseason within the team can restore him to something of the player he was with Chelsea.
Who?

He had a goal or assist every 100 minutes for Chelsea 3 seasons ago. He was one of the best and most prolific attackers in the league. Also incredibly stupid to give them the money to finance Caicedo and later Palmer instead of going for them ourselves. This is the part of the equation that bothers me most -- Mason would have been available on a free transfer within a year. Perhaps another club would have swooped in for his signature so I get wanting to get a deal done, but we were in the stronger position and could have knocked the transfer fee down to 25-30m instead of a monster 60m as Chelsea were desperate to move him on.
As for all the other points, also all true. There were already worrying signs, signs United management negligently and willfully ignored.

I’ve made an annoying amount of posts about this but it’s shocking the fact ETH’s own agent and best mate was responsible for most of these transfers and the higher the fee went the bigger the cutIm convinced ETH got kickbacks from the signings he made.
No way he genuinely thought 60 for Mount, 85 for Antony, 75 for Rasmus and 50 for Onana is a good deal. Surely was getting 25% of that in some off shore account

The same thought has crossed my mind many times, though I am not aware of any financial self-dealing by ETH. That said, there’s enough stupidity with these transfer to at least investigate ETH and whether he enjoyed a windfall at the club’s expense.
I thought Ten Hag's own agent, Vos, was involved in several signings, including Hojlund. This has been widely commented on and questioned. More generally we seem to allow agents to dictate many of our deals, certainly was the case under Mourinho.I think its called the United 'tax'

The plan seemed to be to play him and Bruno together with Casemiro in behind them.Right, but the only role for Mason was Bruno's role...and Mason just isn't and never was in the same league, metaphorically speaking, as Bruno.
I mean you’re not wrong, but surely this has been said hundreds of times on hereWould have been available for free within one year, had shown signs of regression, didn't suit the CM role that we were looking for and was injury prone, yet our old board and Ten Hag thought it would be a great idea to sign him for 60m, give him high salary and the no.7 shirt.

I mean Owen, Valencia, Di Maria, Alexis Sanchez and Memphis Depay probably helped as well. We've had more duds than legends in it tbh.7 shirt lost a lot of meaning when it was put on Michael Owen.
Biggest giveway for me was a transfer target forced swithing to ETH agency empire otherwise there would be no deal. Then Vos taking over negotiations with United. But without any proof of wrongdoing this is Im afraid a libel teritory so Mods delete these acusations if needed.I thought Ten Hag's own agent, Vos, was involved in several signings, including Hojlund. I seriously doubt that ETH benefited financially through these transfers.Biggest giveway for me was a transfer target forced swithing to ETH agency empire otherwise there would be no deal. Then again, aside 115 Cheats, in last ten years of agent fees spent Liverpool top the chart. They pay players entourage big money even before going into negotiatons with selling club.
In your term Gordon mate "agents dictated deals" United are only 5 heaviest spenders on agents fees in Premierleague. Nothing extravagant considering revenue.
Questions remain about some targets refusing to sign for Vos to make the move possible AND why ETH´s agents negotiated such an outrageous sums for the likes of Hojlund Antony Onana and more. While now 50-70mil worth of players, they were selling way under market value. Shockingly even without any buy-back/sell on options for Elanga and good few others.
Bit ironic but United actually shoul spend more bribing agents like others do. Tappin up aggresively. Making sure your man and his people are in the bag before you open an actuall negotiations with the selling club. No chance of a bidding war. Probably why some scousers purchases looked out of blue, done in 3 Ornstein tweets inside 24 hours.
Would definitely keep Wilcox, and Vivel, no matter what reshape above and around them might happen during summer. Berrada looked distraught beside Jimmy at 0:1 the other day. My money is on Omar going two footed into transfer window buying Ruben up to 7 new players. 3-4 to upgrade first 11, a couple role players for rotation and 2-3 great prospects like Chido and Heaven.
