Pray that Frankie Lamps can persuade Coventry to make him their statement signing for their PL campaign. I mean honestly it wouldn't be the worst move for Mase, if he could stay fit he would be playing for a coach that loves him and the team would be built around him.

I'm not sure he would move to Coventry.

I'm not sure he would move to Coventry.

I am not sure either but the relationship between him and Lampard is incredibly close and lets be honest, a big club is not going to try and sign him so our only hope is personal relationships. I guess Conte and Napoli could come to our rescue as he does love a past it PL star.

Of all the daft ETH signings, this is the one I’m the most mad about. What was he smoking to sanction this?

This one was extra annoying because it was so blatantly clear it was a terrible idea.

Other signings that turned out badly, I either hadn't seen enough of them to know they'd be bad or it seemed a good idea at the time and they just never lived up to the hype.

But Mount was a player I had seen play a lot of times over the years and I'd never been particularly impressed. Plus he was coming off an injury plagued season, plus he was in the final year of his Chelsea contract so we could have waited a year and got him for free and plus his best position was where Bruno plays. Who is ten times the player and never gets injured.

It just made no sense in any way.

It has to be Onana, with Antony a close second. Onana was not even close to class of De Gea, who for some had to go but even now is the better keeper, and Antony was just never all that — lots of energy off the ball but no end product with the ball, which is not a desirable trait for a winger.

The fee and the wages for Mount are daft, and his injury record is infuriating, but when fit — and I understand it’s been nonexistent — Mount is a proper footballer. Had we waited six months taken him on a free there would be a lot less anger toward him.

While he has been a real disspointment since he joined - next year we need a lot of bodies if we are to make it to QF and be top 4/5 team again and as we wont get any money from selling him with the injuries / salaries I think we should keep him and give him one last chance. He was good at the start of the season under amorim, so he can defintelty be useful to us.

Onana and Antony at least made sense in that we needed those positions…

Blowing 55m of that summers budget on Bruno’s position was just complete negligence.

The div kid in charge wanted to play him centre mid too.

He’s not really shown this much at United though, even when fit. Non existent is the word that best describes most of his performances.

Big game for him today. Needs to show something to why he gets to continue his United career, feels like he's still a Chelsea player 3 years into his contract.

Sunderland 0:0 Man Utd New
Frustrating but decent as CM at the same time. Can't really blame him.

Has had the occasional great game but it’s not enough. Should go in the summer.

Whoscored has him with 2 fouls but it felt like at least 3 or 4

He did win 3 tackles and 3 interceptions as well so it wasnt all hatchet job. But he was also tackled 3 times and lost the ball with 2 more unsafe touches

It was pretty much the same as when he played there in his first season. He got into the spirit of trying to win the ball but was mediocre when he had the ball

I'm sure the club would love to sell him but he's exactly the unsellable type. High wages, big fee, always injured, but also not a problem off the pitch so the club won't force him out on loan where they'd have to cover half his wages like with Rashford

Anonymous, played far too deep. No idea why you would play him there

One of our worst signings ever, genuinely a wage thief. He does absolutely nothing.

3 years of this shite, him and Zirkzee should be shipped as soon as window opens.

Had Granit Xhaka at 33 run rings around him. He's quite pointless.

Didn't really show any impetus to get back into the team either.

Seems like a nice guy and I want him to do well but he's a nothing player even on the rare occasions that he's not injured. A huge amount of transfer funds and wages to fill the completely pointless Van de Beek role in the squad.

Cannot wait until he’s gone. Net negative in every way

Dishes out mediocrity almost everytime he’s on the pitch yet he’s constantly labelled as a great player on here. One of our worst signings ever

I still have no idea why we bought Mount. One of the craziest things I have ever read is the idea that we went from looking at Rice to buying Mount. How do you start looking for a physical, box to box midfielder and end up with yet another #10?

He wasn't good today but is that his fault? Can you blame an owl for not singing in the morning when the sun rises? Mount is even less of an #8 than Donny Van de Beek. We'd have been better off keeping Sabitzer to be honest.

Once again we bought a nail when we needed a screw.

He's not a central midfielder. That much was apparent after 30 minutes of his debut 3 years ago.

Got about a bit but clearly doesn't understand that position which I can't really blame him for.

If they could sell him, I'm sure they would.

But he has two years left on his contract, is on high wages, has had injury problems that would put a lot of potential buyers off, and is a good enough pro and versatile enough player that no manager will be desperate to be rid of him. So he probably stays.

Rubbish.

Been here 3 years and he's done almost nothing. Another in the long line of ETH disaster signings.

Nobody will be stupid enough to spend money on an injury prone nothing player on huge ways so I imagine we'll be stuck with him for another 2 years before he goes to Fulham or Sunderland on loan in 2028.

Isn't a CM in a 3 really, definitely isn't a CM in a 2, and sure as hell isn't a CM in a 2 with Mainoo as his partner.
I'd definitely try to sell/loan but today wasn't his fault. Fish out of water.

For parts of the 1st half he wasn't doing too bad in trying to be a worse version of Cas, like he did some decent enough defensive work whilst are entire midfield was walked past but seemed like he got bored of it and started just booting players for fun. Still needs to be binned asap because he's a liability and might raise some funds.

We bought him to play as an 8 alongside Bruno and Casemiro at 6. under ETH, it is what some posters speculated. However, after the first couple of games, it was apparent that the system was shite, and Mount wasnt a (central) midfielder either. And that he never will be. Just in time for him to be injured of course. So yeah, we spent 55m to find this out quickly. Once this was established, he was of no use, because he is injured 95% of the time, and the 5% of the time he is fit, Bruno is also fit. And that is the only position he can and knows how to play. It is not just the fee and his wages, or his injuries, but the fact that he can literally only play one position on the pitch to a decent level, the AM one (not CM or winger), and we have the best player in the league there who almost never misses a game and has a ridiculous output.

ETH was a fraud, but i hope all the people who sanctioned or did not challenge this move are gone. Absolute crazy waste of money, worse than VdB, and that was already bad

This is his third season with us and he's been underwhelming at best, and imo should be moved on now. He's 27 so maybe we can get something back but he's also on some high wages right? He's not the best in any position we could play him.

And on top of that he's had fitness issues which is a bigger problem.

His signing at the time made no sense for a number of reasons. His price, how long he had left on his contract, and our priorities for signings.

I still remember that summer posters on here trying to convince me we need Mount as we're going to play a 433 with an old Casemiro and Bruno and it's going to be amazing.

Anyone with a brain could see the disaster that was coming.

Does anyone know how much we'd have to sell him for not to make a loss regarding PSR?

If its anything over £20m then we're stuck with him another season.
