Not sure if I believe the report but also not sure if Mount has durability or pace or strength to play in CM assuming Manioo is his partner there.

It depends on what one expects a squad player. Mason Mount is no Zinedine Zidane, but as a squad man option to call on he's pretty fantastic. But the issue has always been his fitness. Has he even gone two months at OT without being out for a match due to fitness? I'm not sure.

You wrote that Mount has an incurable hip injury. I haven’t read that anywhere before, so I thought maybe you have or have access to some competence on medical questions that I don’t?
I disagree strongly, he doesn't have the attributes to play out wide for us and whenever he does he inevitably plays poorly. He has no speed, can't dribble, doesn't score or assist much. The only attributes he offers in that position is pressing. There's a reason he's 3rd choice at best on either wing. I think he could be decent cover for Bruno and an ok emergency option as a cm but for his prices and wages, it's not good enough. He should have been shown the door this summer realistically.
Ideally, but I don't think anyone is taking him at the wages he's at and we won't be getting any decent fee.
Might as well keep him and hope he has a Shaw like season fitness-wise. Can be a 3rd option for the 10, 6 & 8 positions after our main midfielders.

He played there in the last game of the season from memory and he was decent.
Mount can certainly play in CM if hes fit. Problem is hes not, so he never gets any match rhythm. Its the same problem as any other position for him, which is a real shame because hes a complete professional, obviously loved by his coaches and technically proficient.
I wish he can get a run of games together, if he can I would trust him to be good in most positions.

I really don't want to take much from the last games of the seasons. Most are meaningless.
Even under Amorim, we were decent against Villa.
We're all upset -- as was I at the time - that we spent 60m and 250/week on Mason Mount who was on his last year on his contract, but what's done is done. If someone were to call Berrada and offer 40m for Mount I'm pretty sure a deal would get done in that same phone call. But he's got two more years on his contract and we can either give him the same treatment Amorim and Tuchel gave Mainoo or we can use him where circumstances allow.
I'll keep this short, but I do want to make a few comments about those circumstances may be. Mount isn't good enough at any one role to be a regular starter for United. We agree on that. We also agree that he could be "decent cover" for Bruno, and given all things Bruno's minutes will need to be managed this season as Carrick simply can't run Bruno hard every match throughout the season. As an emergency option, he can play out on the wings -- to repeat myself, as an "emergency option" -- and if we're in dire straits on fitness and suspension grounds, could sub on for Mainoo. 60m and 250/week, which very casual math on my part works out to be 120m (60m times 12m/year x 5 years), was always absurd, but here we are and we have a player who can do a lot of things right in attacking situations when called on to come off the bench.
I hope you're right. I do trust him his decision making and technique in the final third and if he can provide some sort of value next season as a versatile squad player, he won't be the worst player to have around.
My main worry is that he'll be shoehorned into positions that don't fit him, and that, combined with his injuries, will see his stock fall even further making it impossible to shift him next summer.
Against 40 year old Milner and 35 year old Groß. Don't think you can judge much from that game. Luckily for us are first two games are against prime relegation candidates so Mount will be very useful against them while are new signings bed in and Mainoo comes back.

Why? Brighton had everything to play for.
He will play there to get playing time, as Bruno hopefully continues to be rarely injured. However, I see him as the first replacement for Bruno rather than a midfield player at all
He's averaging some 900 minutes per year, the past three seasons. That's woefully low. From the football perspective he's still decent and could o a job as a no10 or 8, just dont know if he can sustain that amount of pressure playing his positions. Coming into the next year, we might look at him and think, with Santos and Tielemans, we are secured as a no6 so we can unlock a bit more attacking in Mainoo and play Mount there too, even with more freedom. Obviously one more player will come in which will likely be athletic and with some flair. If it's Scott, which is likelier than anyone else on our short list ( which mean very little now after the last two signings) we will have everything in midfield.

Mount playing CM? The position that requires quite a bit of running. Not to mention having to deal with physical pressure constantly. He may have the fitness and energy, but his body breaks down quite fast. I wouldnt trust him in goal and not get injured.
There's no getting around the fact, and I think it's a fact, that the game has evolved into assembling squads of specialists rather than jacks of all trades. Mount offers no particularly specialist trait, apart possibly from high pressing, but he is a JOAT (just made that up...not bad if I say so myself!) who during this transition season -- and let's be honest, we're not winning the treble this season -- can help us smooth out the rough edges when Bruno needs a break or we're depleted on the wings. I don't worry about Carrick shoehorning him into positions that don't fit him, but on your very last point it's more likely than not that Mount will see out his contract and leave us on a free in June of 2028. But if he remains healthy and puts in solid performances perhaps we'll be able to claw back 20m from another club who needs a...JOAT.

As I said in another thread, he will stay purely on the basis that he's homegrown in England. We are already a couple of spots light and are likely to loan/sell Rashford too. Otherwise, there's no way INEOS are going to be fine with him earning 250k/w, who at best is a squad player when he's not out injured.

I want Mount to stay. But he should have a full medical with United's team. If they assess that he has fully recovered from his injuries, I think he would be an excellent player in the mix with his passing ability as well. If he is not fully fit, then maybe he can just be our super-sub, unless we can con a club to buy him for a decent price.
He is one Bruno injury away from being incredibly important for us. I think he will surprise a few people this year, and I’ve always been against his signing mind you.
I think the guy's a good player, he's just been constantly injured. If he can stay fit, he'll contribute, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Utter joy to watch today. If we get lucky enough to have Mount available for 75% of the games this season, which I appreciate we’d have to be very optimistic of, then he’ll be a fantastic asset for us.
