Haven’t seen pre season on the tv but sounds likes he’s having a good one. Now stay fit!

Been very good in that midfield role in every game. As he was in the same role in the last game of the season.

Maybe ten Hag was right all along.

Will be interesting to see how much he keeps featuring in midfield as other players return.

Dare we say that we may not need to go after another midfielder in the transfer market?

Will be interesting to see if he can do it against prem level midfield not named Milner and Groß but the first two games he'll be fine. Very promising preseason from him though.

It was obvious to anyone with a working set of eyes that Mount is a quality footballer.

Injury obviously hampers performance and match rhythm but he’s a great player when fit and really useful.

He starts against Hull with Santos on they stay fit.
It’s always the injury issues with Mount.

Yep, fingers crossed he can stay fit this season, he’ll be a very useful utility player if he does.

Nah, not with Mount's fitness record being what it is.

If he manages to stay fit for most of the season, it's a nice bonus having a quality player who can fill in at #10, LW, RW or CM. And you make as much use of him as his form warrants. But you can't build your squad with a dependency on that happening.

He had a good game, in a friendly, but how many good games can he give us when the season starts - big question!

One of the big winners from preseason. After being bounced about from different positions, it looks like he has found a role/system he can excel in... not going to say the quiet part out loud, but yeah keep it up

Mount just needs to stay fit, if he does, a class player. But I think its too much of a risk to assume he will stay fit. Would be nice to be able to invest in other areas but the situation is what it is.

Forget about his two seasons here and focus on a couple preseason games? That'd be wise

Early days, of course, but surely what we've just seen counts for something. We can just keep paying Mount 250/week to do nothing then spend 100m, plus another 300k/week for another midfielder. If Mount collapses in the next 3 friendlies then we have our answer, but if maintains the form he's already shown surely you're not suggesting we ignore it.

Was delighted when he first joined. Injuries took all the excitement away. Hope this pre-season is building towards something to look forward to this coming season.

He was excellent, but he will almost certainly be injured before October. That's the issue. We should still be looking for another midfielder.

Surprisingly good in CM. I'd still worry about his defensive contribution in a Premier League game with us in the 4-2-4 out of possession shape...but no denying his MOTM today. As a more attacking option against weaker teams...why not?

There's no denying his fitness record, but no one is talking about building around Mason Mount. Ahead of him by miles are Bruno and Mainoo, and I'm almost ready to anoint Santos as a fantastic addition in midfield. Tielemans, we shall see but I have every reason to believe he'll make a massive contribution. Mount can be that nice bonus.

We can do without the straw man argument...no one is suggesting that we build the squad with a dependency on Mount being a reliable option coming off the bench.

Even with the 'pre-season' prefix, his performances have been very good. That performance today was very impressive and he showed touches and turns that we haven't seen regularly in a United CM area for some time. As ever with Mount, his fitness is going to be a problem and how much we can rely on him is open to the gods.
I've been a huge critic of him as he's been a disaster of a signing so far, but if he can repeat what Shaw did last season and stay fit, then we could be in for a great season from him, based on this last few weeks. Delighted for him. Fingers crossed.

his football IQ and decision making is probably the highest and best of all the midfielders in the team. He is what i call a winning player. Just a shame that he is injured so often.

He was taking the piss in second half. Great performance.

he’s a fantastic squad player. Manage his minutes, don’t over do it with him, keep him fit and use him intelligently.

Top player when fit and firing.

Top players make the game look easy and he is in that bracket. If he stayed fit we'd have a £120m player on our hands, he's that good.

Ten Hag didn't play him as a midfielder though. We effectively played two #10's leaving just Casemiro playing midfield by himself for almost that entire season. It's only now under Carrick that he's started playing as an actual central midfielder and he's doing it extremely well. At first I thought he was showing enough that he could be a good emergency option there, but if he can continue this then he's going to be more than that.

If (and admittedly it is a huge 'if') Mount can continue this form in competitive games, there's no reason to think Mainoo is miles ahead of him. Honestly I wouldn't be going into the season with any particular pecking order in mind with the midfielders. Mount and Santos have had the longest preseason (and have clearly been our two best players so far), Tielemans is the most proven in the PL, and Mainoo is the most proven at Man Utd. There's a fair chance we'll start the season with Mount and Santos in there, then it'll be up to the others to earn the right to start over them. That's not even counting any new midfielder that we buy.

Was not a serious comment my dude. Well, not entirely anyway.

Not sure why anyone are surprised at his quality. He does everything at a pretty good level and his work rate and pressing is crazy.

Last season he missed only 9 games, that is not really as bad as some make it out to be. No reason he can't overcome his injuries.

When fit he's a brilliant player. The issue isn't only the injuries but playing his way back into form from said injuries.

Barring another setback he's earning a start Matchday 1.

Without checking...9 seems very low. I'd be surprised if it wasn't...9 games where he was ruled out of the squad + at least another 10 where we put him on the bench due to lack of options and knew he couldn't contribute more than 20 minutes.

The one cause for optimism is early in his career he had some 50+ game seasons, and his injuries at United haven't been one recurring issue. His attitude and application recently at least make people saying he ranks as one of United's worst ever signings (in comparison with Sancho...etc) laughable. Clearly a dedicated pro, fingers crossed this is his season.

On this form and if he’s fit I think he will become very useful in seeing out games where we are hopefully head, in that he can replace any of 7,8,10 or 11 positions in our system and provide additional energy against tired legs.

Beyond that, I do see elements of specific tactical roles that he can play when required against particularly dangerous wide men or sitting midfielders.

You can see why managers like him, he just needs to remain available for Carrick here.

Lastly, if Jack Fletcher does stick around this season, I would be telling him to watch and learn from Mount in terms of those aspects of the game that require thinking and discipline, as I can see Fletcher becoming something similar over time.

Yeah, I mean he missed only 9 to injuries. He was available for the rest, but didn't play for various reasons. Guess Carrick thought Mainoo, Casemiro and Bruno was the way to go forward to get top 4.
