Mason Mount | 2026/27 Performances

Totally agree, a nothing player who if fit, big if, runs around a bit without doing a great deal. Arguably one of the worst transfers, if not the worst, in our history and yes I'm including Sancho and Antony in that conversation.

What's worse is his re-emergence in pre-season will likely see us not invest further into our midfield for this campaign that I feel will be hugely detrimental to us. I'd love him to prove me wrong, stay fit and contribute, but I never got it at Chelsea nor England.
Completely agree he is the definition of a nothing player. I've no idea what people see in him. There's nothing he does better than anyone else we have. Off course he will stay as there is no other club that dumb to sign him.

Pure shit talk. He's clearly an excellent player with a terrible injury problem. "People didn't rate him at Chelsea" he was their player of the year in a CL winning season ffs. He assisted in the final. He's captained them numerous times. Argh! Most of you are so infuriating and short term. Yes he's been a terrible signing but no he's not a "nothing player" Do you really think Blue Co have a clue what they've been doing since they came in because I sure don't.

If he can stay injury free he's going to play loads and I hope and pray he makes you all look like the idiots you truly are trying to score points on an internet message board. "I was right all along" Grow up ffs and stop with the constant negativity, It's head melting. It's a new season and he's doing well so far and more power to him.

First of all, I think we all pretty much agreed he isn't in anyone's "starting XI if everyone is fit", but it's not a problem because we're building a squad now.

Secondly, he is the best presser from the front, he speeds up the game whenever he enters the pitch, and is probably best player in terms of short passing in tight spaces we have (maybe Tielemans will take over now, not sure).

Agree with your post 100%. Did we overpay, yes, should we have worried about his injuries before signing him, probably. However there is no doubt for me when he is fit he is a useful player for us. The negativity around him is too much.

He's a brilliant player and any time he's eventually gotten up to speed before breaking down he's shown he belongs at this level, over and over and yet here we still are. If he can stay fit. If x 100. He's one of our hardest working and most versatile players and he's classy on the ball. He's a leader and clearly he's very professional and a drama free personality

50 million quid got you a random city fullback never to be heard from again ten years ago. I wish people would stop acting like it's their money or the lad never showed any ability or no other big club would have ever signed him. Liverpool and Arsenal were both in for him too and he chose us.

It's a new season and we've loads of games. I wish the lad all the best.

Hey pot meet kettle. Maybe you could take your own advice because someone doesn't agree with your opinion of a player? Like @Trigestis has said multiple times Mount only missed 9 games last season and I can't really remember doing much outside of the Brighton game where his midfield battle was against a 40 year old Milner and 35 year old Grob.

Can't really complain about people saying he's a nothing player when he's shown next to nothing for us in 3 seasons.

Agree he's been fantastic in preseason against subpar competition and would love nothing more for him to continue into the actual season but I'm not going to rewrite 3 seasons of next to nothingness because he's done well in a few preseason games.

It's a new season. Let's give everyone who's been professional but unlucky a fresh slate. We've so many games. Out of all the players on our books who haven't been able to really show what they can do for me Mount is the very top of the list. He's never been a bad player. A bad transfer 100% because of injury but people on here were saying he wasn't good enough before he'd even kicked a ball for us and have kept it going ever since which is bizzare given his standing and reputation in the game previous to arriving here and how he's performed here when he's actually been match fit

It was a bad transfer because he cost what he cost with a year left on his deal, his wage and add in his competition for a place in the 1st team was Bruno.... The injury record has only compounded a at best strange transfer.

I'm all for a clean slate but it's his 4th season here and he's probably had about as many memorable games in that time even when he has played. Genuinely hope he carries on the form from preseason because he has looked very good.

Giving players a clean slate is how we end up with flops and sick notes sticking around for years. If we don't learn from the numerous mistakes of the past 13 years we deserve everything we get

I suspect the reason we've not sold Mount is that we just won't get anything for him, given his injuries. We seem a lot more keen to sell on players than in the past.

I think there'll be no sentiment for Mount with Ineos, they are trying to cut costs all across the board. He won't be sold or loaned this season simply because it'll be a crap deal for us, we need leadership and numbers and he's not a trouble maker, he's not agitating to get away and play more. He'll stay and play his part and hope his injuries are behind him for the most part and he can finally repay us in some way

Unless he has a total injury free blinder for the next season or two he'll be kept for numbers and then let go on a free when his contract is up.

But now he's finally fit and he's playing well and he was clearly a very good player at Chelsea. All these things can be true at the same time

We went through this with Amorim. Mount was a pressing machine and for a few games he was the link that was working and he was our saviour. Then he did what Mount does and disappeared for a bit.

He won't string 10 appearances together this season.

It’s ridiculous to think he can be relied upon all season.

I don't know why I bother wasting time highlighting his positive traits when we all know how the story ends after a few consecutive appearances.

Feel for him but his body isn't cut out to be an athlete. The sooner his wages are off the books the better

Might as well terminate his contract. Laughable really complete waste of space and money.

Really like Mason and feel bad for him but hopefully that is a message to the club in case they were mental enough to honestly think he could be the fourth midfielder.

A nothing player. Can't rely on him to be fit for 5 consecutive games, at the point you can't count him in squad ratios.

Counting Mount as a central midfielder was always a bit hopeful, depending on him staying fit was another matter altogether.

He needs to retire early and go be a pundit for Sky.

Our ability to buy immovable duds is truly staggering.

Anyone at this club who vocalized that we could use Mount in midfield instead of signing a 3rd midfielder should get their walking papers immediately, and never work for anything related to football again.

And fans gobbling it up. We really are starved of talent and success, because I don’t understand how people can’t see the obvious. We need to swallow the losses on this one and move on

Did anyone say that?

Predictable things continue to happen at this club. It'd be nice to see the club actually predict them and plan accordingly for a change

Looking forward to the brief that it was just a precaution and he will he ready for the season
