Mason Mount's Many Misfortunes (please don't make another waste of money post)

I dont understand how a player can be reliable to become completely injury prone without a major injury.

Its very weird long term muscle injuries as well, not like he has been overworked or the like.

Seems really strange to me, can't even get a run of 2 games.
Chelsea played him into the ground. Kante, Chilwell and James got the same treatment too.

Chelsea run him to the ground basically ?
The particular style of play, the intensity the drive and engine, are probably too much for an athletes body. He might have gotten an injury that didn’t heal well and it’s causing too much strain on his muscles ? You can never know with these things.

he could turn it around. There’s a good player in there. I keep thinking of Robjen (might be misspelling the name here) and how he was often unavailable for Real but made a career in Bayern. My mind might be playing games to me.
Arjen Robben. Always injured, but then figured things out and stayed fit in his later years.

He is going to score the winner in the EL final isn't he, I can just feel it.

Injured till Christmas then, but still a club legend for his winning goal.

Plenty of posters telling us how unprofessional Mount is etc in the past, and blaming him for being injured. They should listen to the manager.
Who has said that? He comes across as extremely professional.

His managers never have a bad word to say about him

Gives us another option for sure. Should suit one of the 10s and his pressing from the front will be useful

Its pretty clear Amorim rates him highly.
His best seasons at Chelsea were in the 3 at the back from memory, Lampard/Tuchel season + then the next full Tuchel season when he got 20+ combined goals and assists in the league.

I think all managers that have had him do. He's one of those players that might not appeal to fans as much but the managers love them. I remember Southgate playing him over Foden and everyone was really pissed off with him with that decision but it's a fact that he's seen as very important and a key system player.

Agreed on both counts above. Suspect his return will be like a new signing next year.

What makes you think he won't continue to be contiguously injured? This is 3 yeas now for him of being consistently injured. If he manages to be fit for a few games it's a bonus, but it won't be like a new signing because it will be exactly like it has been for us the last 2 seasons for us and Chelsea the year before.

Because being injured is not a normal state a human is in. Its an anomaly from which most players eventually recover and continue playing. Mount has been admittedly unlucky with a string of different leg injuries (calf/hamstring/thigh), but none of that diminishes his actual on the pitch quality as a player. Once he's fit, he's basically going to be like a brand new signing.

I suspect he'll get injured after 6 games, contributing 1 assist, and then probably be out until April.

It's been two years, not three. His injury problems started in March 2023.

Doesn't change your point too much as two years is still a bloody long time and it is looking increasingly likely that he won't fully recover, but two years still gives some hope whereas if it continues for a third I'd say that hope is virtually gone.

What I never understand is, a player gets injured, is under treatment and is eventually passed fit for training. They, presumably, start with light training and are carefully monitored. They then, at some stage, move up to full training with the first team squad. Finally, they are passed fit to play.

They've gone through many stages and tests before it's decided that they can now play. With Mount that's many months in which he's trained a lot, including intense training to test if he's really ready.

Then, he plays half an hour and gets another injury.

Alright, I get that match fit and fit to play are not necessarily the same things, but how can you pass someone fit to play, after months of rehabilitation only for them to break down again so quickly?

When he makes his great return it will be like the phoenix rising from the flames and ashes. He will never get injured again. He will become a United legend and his name will become part of folklore in decades to come.

Best. Cantona. Beckham. Ronaldo. Mount.

The legendary number 7s.
