Its sad that its taken a relegation and Sullivan being publicly shamed to get here, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. At least with Krentisky we know he is very keen to invest outside the playing squad, we've fallen WAY behind the standard when it comes to training facilities, etc and Sullivan has been running the club as a plaything for far too long. He was bailed out in the early 2020s by a great manager (at our level) in Moyes in muchthe same way the Glazers were bailed out by the greatest of all time to do it for a long time.

My guess though is Krentsky has his eyes on that staidum and the land around. Must be worth a fortune and right now its a huge drain on the local councils resources for very little gain.
On the field, the make up of the squad will be interesting to watch, especially now in light of recent events. Perhaps not so much of a fire sale as was previously reported. Still have to get that wage bill down though...I imagine a few loans will be worked out...Todibo, Kilman etc.

The stadium and surroundings will be another area of interest, as you point out.

But realistically 65-70m was where most level headed United fans were saying it would fall.

On that it makes no difference.
I suppose what it does mean is we can afford to be a bit more flexible in terms of conditions, add ons etc.

With a hard deadline of the 30th June to raise money before today, we may have needed to just accept anything we could get, now we can afford for it to run deeper into the transfer to get addons or conditions that we may have otherwise had to forgo.

For example maybe we will want much more of that upfront to help fund a first year promotion push, whilst before we really just had to et guaranteed money in whatever it took. So on that front, it actually does make a difference.

Yeah I think the max will be 65+10 in add ons. My complete guess is it will end up as a £72m package all in.
I think all parties would be happy with this, especially if wrapped up before the end of the month.

United keep talking about data analysts, smart scouting and experienced football people yet they keep on doing the same feck up over and over again. Our CEO has no prior experience as CEO before joining us and Wilcox had 1 year experience in the DOF role. We knew we needed CMs for at least 2 years. What was our response? We went for a player we've been scouting since 2024 and 2 EPL proven players everyone knew about that they are good. Meanwhile it takes more time for a country to invade another country then for us to 'prepare a bid'. Regarding the Anderson deal we've been leaking to everyone that we want him for months. Then we're shocked that his price skyrocketed. What a bunch of amateurs lead this club

Maybe our data analysts identified these good PL proven players as the best or most suitable options? Maybe these signings will actually turn out good and not be feck ups? Maybe we always knew Anderson was going to City anyway and our very public interest just pushed the price up for them whilst we were working on our actual targets?

Are you expecting us to have finished all our transfer business by now? If so, perhaps worth remembering that the PL window doesn’t open for another two days. Would you be more confident with us picking up some lesser known prospects from abroad for 20-30 million? If that happened, there’s no way you’d be here complaining about that too is there?

Mateus Fernandes and Alex Scott are no Vitinha and João Neves. Plus the EPL is a lot more demanding physically and mentally week in, week out than the farmers league.

But Fernandes and Scott have also both shown themselves to be physically capable of competing in the PL.

Mateus Fernandes is verry underrated physically, so is Kobbie Mainoo. Both are really strong and well-balanced players. Scott on the other hand seems to be weaker than both imo. It always looks like he needs a lot of effort, energy and dynamism for direct duells, especially without the ball. Which makes sense, because he looks like he’s around 5 kg lighter than Kobbie and Mateus.

Fair, but by physically I din’t just mean strength. Speed, acceleration and stamina are also huge with the faster paced nature of the league, and if we end up with Mainoo, Fernandes, Scott and Ederson I actually feel that’s fairly well rounded in term of physical attributes, and a lot better placed for us to compete in the middle of the park for 90 mins than Mainoo, Case and Ugarte. The one obvious deficiency is the lack of a more dominant defensive 6, but it looks like we night be looking for more well rounded and technically sound CMs than specialists.

Kobbie has gotten stronger in the last two seasons. I remember seeing Gravenburch bully him not that long ago, think it was under Ten haag. He's muscled up since then though.

I'd say the big issue will be chance creation with those as all of their passing is pretty unspectacular. Physically and generally all round, we'd have a unrecognisable midfield that can all carry the ball at a top level and some very decent ball winners. Maybe that will be functional enough to let Bruno just do his thing and not worry too much about being countered on. Hard to tell exactly what the plan is, but it will be way better than what we had.

You think passing and creativity would be lacking under Fernandes and Scott?

Fernandes has better assist stats than Casemiro over the past few seasons, and had a very similar number of chances created in the season just gone - 37 with 3 big for Fernandes, 35 with 4 big for Case.

Hard to know how that will translate in a completely different team of course - he’ll be facing a low block more often, but will also have better players around him. If we get him, it’s going to be very interesting to see how it plays out. I’m intrigued and hopeful, but football is very unpredictable.

Central midfielders generally do not have spectacular passing. It's more about possession, probing and playing forward/progressive passes in between the lines to your attacking players, who can get into 1 vs 1s and create in the final third.

If we get that from our intended targets, that's more than enough. Casemiro was as successful in spraying long balls, first time through balls as he was in losing the ball countless times and being far too loose with it. I look forward (hopefully) to not seeing Bruno, Amad, Mbeumo and Cunha dropping deep and needing to get so involved in the build up because we're so porous and bad at retaining/progressing in the middle.

Hope to see this deal get over the line. Think Fernandes is a great prospect and a real talent. As West Ham had goalkeeper issues i wonder have they looked at Radek Vitek as part of this deal. Would be good for both clubs books if selling for profits.

If that's the case then why do we even hire data analysts? Even a 13 year old kid who watch the EPL could come out with those names. I read your explanation about the Anderson deal. Please let me ask? What's your conspiracy theory behind hiring Amorim despite knowing fully well that his system required an overhaul of the squad which would cost far more then we can afford? What's your theory behind waiting for Ashworth (who cost us money to get him out of his Newcastle contract) and then sacking him? What was the plan behind giving ETH a contract extension and then sack him? Or could there be an easier explanation for this ie they are a bit clueless? Let's face it these guys were hired by INEOS ie a company whom last year nearly got OGC Nice relegated and got Lausanne relegated many many times. Oh wait, maybe that was the plan all along! Wow

No one is expecting all our deals to be sorted. However we knew CM was our biggest issue, that we need at least 3 CM and that money is tight considering the rebuild and the debt. You'd expect United to have more ducks in a row at this point and come out with names who aren't predictable and highly sought/expensive.

Unlike the murtough admin whom I rated as incompetent I am not against this admin. After all they did come up with the likes of Dorgu and Lammens who were hidden gems. However I believe they need to start trusting their guts more

It’s only a matter of time when this gets done but there will be some fantastic meltdowns along the way. “Walk away!” “We must have other targets!” “We’re always held to ransom! Etc etc.

Must say, enjoyed reading this morning's bedwetting, certainly entertaining.

Championship clubs are limited to £15m in cash injections, and theres another rule of something like £33m limit rolling over 3 seasons.

I dont think this will fix things.

That limit only applies to West Ham from 1 July.

It's suspected that West Ham will start negotiating to buy the Olympic Stadium and land in the coming months.

Current arrangements around the stadium don't work for anyone.

Hard to tell, they're not really playing under the instructions I think that can prove one way or the other. I hope so, I've seen flashes from both, but wouldn't say they are extremely good at progressing the ball.

That's good, but in think Cases role was more crashing the box than really being on the ball. But that's a good sign in a better team it should go up if he's at least comparable.

Definitely, I'll be watching pre season intently to try and get a sense of how we'll set up.

I did mean that in a progressive passing sense. Not Bruno like but hopefully a bit more cutting edge and not just the main threat be carrying the ball. You're right though, being more controlled in possession should in itself yield better options.

Fernandes specifically is very very good in this department.

Howson credibility has took a huge hit with that clickbait video, glad I wasn't suckered in by it. I am fully expecting it to take a couple of bids to get this over the line.

PSG seem to do alright with a lightweight midfield.
We have a slow defence that can't push up the pitch, our technical level and ball retention is miles behind PSG throughout the team, our front 4 turnover the ball for fun, we don't have Luis Enrique as our coach, and we play in the toughest most physical league in the world.

Not to mention Vitinha only managed to excel once he left the physically demanding PL for a piss poor one team league.

Not a single one of the starting 11 in the CL managed over 30 league games. Most did barely half. This type of load management to save for CL would never work in the PL, so hard to compare anyone with PSG players.

Mateus has a better crust, Mainoo is cheesier. Casemiro’s tomato sauce is better but nothing bests Wharton’s pepperoni.

None of these "ITKs" do anything but guess and steal others news reports.

Simon Stone "i would be surprised if this deal is not done"

Google United reddit tier list and look for the journalist list.

Thats your reliability. Tier 0,1,2 anything else is just noise.

I truly believe Mateus Fernandes has the potential to be a much better player than Eliot Anderson. This is not me having red tint specs because we are going to get him. This is me doing a fairly comparison between Fernandes with Anderson if we go by their age and time playing in the premier league. You have to take into consideration that Anderson is 2 years older than Fernandes and has play in the premier league for 5 years since his debut in Jan 2021. Fernandes is 21 and is only on his second year on the premier league and has already show a massive grow in development at a faster pace than Anderson in only those 2 years.

A fairer comparison should be between Anderson 23/24 and 24/25 seasons compared to Fernandes 24/25 and 25/26 seasons. and see how Fernandes has edge Anderson when we match seasons by their age.

Of course this all talked about potential. That doesn't mean Fernandes will fulfill his potential and will depend on his good mentality and dedication to keep growing. It will depend on Carrick abilities to harness that potential, but if he keep progressing and getting better every season the way he has done in the previous 2 years he will be one of the best midfielder in the world in due time, and the better player in my opinion.

You hire data analysts to help make the best possible transfer decisions. The fact that sometimes there may be some overlap with what our data analysts and scouts think are the best options with what some 13 year old fan might think is the best option is neither here nor there - we’re making those decisions based on the former’s input, not the latter’s.

Your other points are just whataboutism. The Amorim appointment was a compete feck up and we can only hoped they’ve learned from that. Our transfers this summer should be judged on their own merit, not on the fact that we fecked up when appointing Amorim, or getting rid of Ashworth.

Yes, INEOS have made some bad decisions, especially regarding managers. But their player transfer record seems to be slowly improving having revamped that dept. Fernandes and Ederson both look like smart CM signings to me, but the proof of the pudding will be seen next season of course.

Last summer there were a lot of posters on here condemning INEOS for buying Cunha, Mbeumo and Sesko over some CMs, claiming our chances of top 4 were fecked. Turns out it was a workable strategy for getting top four once we made a management change. Maybe stop being so melodramatic about the current window? It’s very early days, and good players being in high demand isn’t new or surprising.

Couple years back his pizza chart was almost identical to Kroos
Tchouameni is my dream midfield signing to partner this guy, however know there is no chance he will want to leave. So maybe you could give us a decent deal for Camavinga.

Fernandes specifically is very very good in this department.
It's not born out in his stats, he's good, but can be a bit inconsistent. Hard to tell with someone like him if that's due to how Nuno plays, the quality of his team mates or due to his experience not quite being there. It's easy to forget he's only a year older than Mainoo, with way less experience. He's coming into replace an absolute seasoned veteran in Casemiro. It's probably best to temper expectations to begin with and be pleasantly surprised. I hope he steps up without skipping a beat, but that's probably a little unreasonable.

INEOS have been far from perfect, but most of their mistakes were made early on, they have also done quite a lot of good, they built a new training complex, which the Glazers had neglected since they arrived in 2004, they made a lot of questionable cutbacks but the finances are now starting to improve, many poor players on high wages have now left the club and more and continuing to do so.

The summer transfer window was a huge success, all the signings have been good, the club managed to get 3rd place and a vital CL spot for the extra income to allow for more team improvements.

They are starting to do most things right.
