Whats with people moaning about us being slow. We've secured one midfield signing and we're working on another, worth a substantial fee. We're operating as efficiently as any other club right now
Some were whinging about us being slow before the window even opened

Because negotiations occur via intermediaries well before a bid is every submitted, I assume?
I would assume if they are going well we must be close to giving West Ham what they want which I highly doubt.

Who is this random person on twitter? What do they know?
He seems to know someone at the club. I think he's getting a bit big for his boots with the additional commentary on how it's all working, but he tends to get wind of transfer stuff first, mens and womens tem.

How would you define a business transaction going well then?
By coming to an agreement that both parties are satisfied with, to some extent? I don’t see why it would automatically mean that United just agreed to pay whatever West Ham wanted. In my experience, that’s not how negotiations and deal making progress.

Sully does know some stuff - remember he announced something in last year or so before any of the big guns.

Low key bit of he posts it, it usually means it’s acceptable. Never seen him post something that was shown to be clickbait bollocks

I am not saying whatever they wanted!
I am saying a price that they would be happy with.
By West Ham saying 85mil, that is to make sure they will get close to 70mil and that is the game that is played.
I am not saying they are going well, I responded to a post that stated they were.

To the Alex Scott thread then.

Okay. But again, I’m struggling to see your point. There is still every chance that they are close to agreeing a fee and we don’t know that, surely?

If they agreed a deal next week, would that be evidence that this guy was correct, then?

I don't know how you can be advancing and not wanting to overpay though. I guess you could be getting closer to the asking price, but doesn't really mean the deal is getting an closer to completion if West Ham's valuation and ours differ. The only way this gets resolved is if West Ham come down or we get closer to their asking price. I'm not sure how either party would know whether either of them would be willing to do that, would be just a hunch.

Possibly.
I made a post a few days ago stating that I think we will make two bids and they will be knocked back and our third will be close and it will then be tweaked and then accepted.
If I am right then do I have inside info?

I was thinking more about structure of deal, instalments, add ons, etc etc. There’s plenty that can be discussed behind the scenes before any formal bid is made via agents. The overall figure is only one part of it.

Well if there was ever a time to move quickly it’s when a club like Madrid start calling, Perez seems to get linked with a footballer phones them and within 24 hours even if they’ve said no they wake up outside the Bernabeu wearing white.

Case in point Cucurella. Absolutely out of nowhere

Not necessarily, but the source of this information has been very reliable for United transfer news over the last few years, so there could be some merit to the information.

I wish this Jose guy was buried in Turkish/Portuguese leagues forever and never got a second chance at Real.

Thought our midfield will be sorted for next 10 years and now he might snatch him away from us.
Hope these stories are not true and Mateus would still be interested in playing in EPL rather spending his life in boring LaLiga.

If Jose wants him at Real, he will get him, isnt it ? Mendes factor will be there too!

As with everything mate....time will tell.

To the Alex Scott thread then.

Why? They have too many midfielders to give guaranteed gametime, the brief has been constant that we are the preferred destination & Bruno is his hero, I doubt Mourinho has that much sway anymore

Are Madrid going for him? Perez has promised a Galactico, Mourinho wants players at their peak, seems a weird high cost transfer.

We’ve seen this again and again. Just rehashing the same story.

Fernandes is Mendes client and this journo is basically Madrid mouthpiece. This is a good source

They will sell, and Madrid as a club have that sway. Even in our prime years, Ronaldo wanted to leave for Madrid. It's dream destination for every single player.

Pretty relaxed about this. I still think we’ll get him, but if not, it means we’ll get Tchouameni instead.

People get memory loss at the start of each transfer window. Some have been moaning since the beginning of June that we aren’t being fast enough.

The meltdown on here as soon as Madrid is mentioned is truly something.
If he wants to go to that circus to play for an absolute relic who’ll probably throw him under the bus within 6 months then he can crack on.

Yes but we’ve seen this exact brief word for word multiple times already. Nothing has changed. Reports are we have still persuaded the player. The source hasn’t added any new information. Just because it’s a good source doesn’t mean they don’t rehash the same story over and over.

It doesn't mean they'd get him. Mateus has made it clear he wants to join us. I'm not worried.
I reckon we're top pick from clubs in the PL for Mateus but the likes of Madrid & Barcelona will always be highly attractive options for footballers unfortunately. Especially south American/ southern European players. If Madrid are genuinely throwing their hat in the ring ; this will be difficult to pull off

Yeah Madrid are exceptions to the rule generally
