Amazing to have a forward who doesn't just get bullied off the ball endlessly. Can see why he draws so many fouls.

Was visibly annoyed at our crap build up play. And quite rightly so it was comcially bad in the first half. Side way passes between our CBs which always lead to a ball back to the GK to hoof it up field to absolutely nobody

Him and Amad look like they're on that level. Everyone else is cosplay.

Feel like Cunha, Mbeumo and Amad will bring enough all round quality that we just need the rest to do a basic job. I think he'll enjoy playing with Zirkzee.

It's concerning that we're still doing this.

Out crap build up play is the main reason we weren't scoring goals last season.

Lively and positive (mentally). Doesn't have the baggage of seasons past. Hope it continues.

He would've scored if not for Obi taking a shot with his weaker foot right when he has almost a sitter.

And the 3 seasons before that

Sideways, sideways, back, sideways out to the side, back, sideways, sideways, out to the side, progress the ball 10 yards, side, back, back, long ball. Lose possession. Rinse and repeat.

I worry he will see the dross around him and think he has made a mistake and then his shoulders drop and he falls into mediocrity like the rest of them

Between him, Bruno and Mbeumo, we'll now have three players who are used to bearing the burden of being match winners. This is what Amorim meant when he said he wanted big players.
Love Amad but he's not quite there yet. he's definitely getting close.

He's better than those around him, that's for sure. Hope he elevates the team rather than the team/club dragging him down.

He did seem in deep thought coming off for HT against Leeds!

To be fair, when you look at it in the cold light of day, if we did a player by player comparison against the mighty Wolverhampton Wanderers last season, I'm not sure we come out on top :o

Of those that immediately come to mind, Ait Nouri, Semedo, Cunha, Strand Larsen, whatever goal keeper they had are clear significant upgrades on their counterparts in our team last season. It gives you an appreciation of the task Amorim had on his hands.

I thought he was pretty poor overall. I imagine if he hadn’t been there would be more comments.

He certainly wasn't poor, kept winning the ball back high up the pitch, also showed quality in his runs, strength, and touches several times.

Obviously he's not up to speed yet and it was boiling, so overall he didn't do that much, but you can see that he should be a massive upgrade this coming season.

Looked tidy on the ball but wasteful in his forward passes. Not brilliant performance but not bad either.
I just get the feeling he will thrive off Zirkzee playing in the CF position and dropping deeper we to link up.
Looks to come central more with the ball whereas Garnacho playing that role would drift wider.

How come nobody has commented on his performance? Genuine question. I didn’t watch the game.
From his compilation, he looked mostly good dribbling with the ball, but his passing was off. A few times winning the ball back after pressing too.

I remember him winning it back a few times but West Ham were poor in the their possession play so he wasn’t the only one. His most notable contribution came from winning the ball high up the pitch on the back of a loose pass he made. He had a few nice touches and one classy turn but it was a poor performance overall.

He wasn't great overall, and the weight of his passes were off, but you can see what he'll bring to the side. Having somebody who can drop into midfield and help progress the ball up the pitch, either with a pass or dribble takes a massive weight of the creative burden off of Bruno - even before you consider the goals and assists.

It’s great seeing him receive a pass, turn and drive with the ball, once Mbeumo gets up to speed as well doing the same thing it’ll pay dividends for us.

It might be too early and an unpopular opinion, but he looks a bit off from a technical standpoint. His first touch and drive doesn’t look assured, but he makes it up by his activity.

He honestly reminds me of McTominay: good at driving forward with the ball, quality strikes, good physical presence, and a first touch with the inside of the foot very open

Now before people overreact, I said he reminded me of McTominay, not that he’s the same player, although I think McTominay wouldve been a great option in our current system as a 10

He's never been technical, he's way more physically focused. I'm a lot more excited by Mbeumo.

It's great to finally see a player pressing in that postion!!

He had one or two moments on the ball, glimpses. Just hope he can get his fitness up and get a nice long uninterrupted run in the team and he'll be fine. He linked up with Bruno better than in the Leeds game but it will take them a few months probably to fully figure each other out

He's going to be a fan favourite here. Seems to be getting on well with the other lads in the dressing room too. Both Bruno and Amorim commented on how funny he is.
