I do think we're yet to see the best of him, but I think that front 3 is going to be to a success - even if the rest of the team seems a shambles as it stands.
I do hope so, as he’s been really underwhelming to poor. He deserves time of course, but he needs to start putting in improved performances.

I think that's fair, but his start got disrupted by injury too. He's trying to do too much on his own and that is only ok when your putting in the net regularly.

Agreed, he was good against arsenal and the 1st half against Fulham, but since then, very underwhelming. Granted he got injured too so hopefully he's returning to match fitness soon. Still, to be in Oct and not have any goals or assists yet is a bit disappointing.

Man Utd 2:0 Sunderland New
Gave us some attacking threat when he came on, hard done by due to the wastefulness of his colleagues

Looks like he’s trying too hard. Was surprised when Mount got pulled for him. Would say Mount is ahead of him in the pecking order now.

You can tell he's desperate to get that first goal. I think he'll settle down and play with a calmer head once he bags it.

Just let him take a penalty. We can’t waste chances just for him to get a goal.

Its understandable though. First goal can calm some nerves down.

Still early but we really do have a knack for making top players look average. Cunha was a top player at Wolves and he's given us glimpses of top moments so far. Hopefully, he can bring it together more often and we start to see more consistency soon.

Our left side wing back options are so bang average I'd like to see Mount play there and put Cunha ahead of him.

No tracking back from him, created 2 very good chances for Sunderland, needs to contribute in defence given our midfield.

It is his regular playing style though. That’s why he scores so many screamers.

Very much this.

He’s a quality player but it’s making him play tense or something. He’s normally silky but he’s rushing too much to try and force it. Hopefully he can get on the scoresheet soon, maybe take out next pen.

Not against this but I'd actually have them the other way around. Cunha is great at carrying the ball forward as well as winning the ball back, so I'd have him as the LWB and Mount as the 10 if anything.

He does shoot a lot generally, but I think he's been extra selfish in search of that first goal.

His numbers for assists and xAG etc were also very respectable last season, and we haven't seen that side of his game yet at all here really.

Don't know what stream everyone was watching but the commentator I had said just when he came on he got a bollocking for not tracking back. Didn't think I''d be saying this prior to the season start but Mount looks the better option at the moment.

He was in great position multiple times only to have a horrible pass from a teammate screw it up for us.

I think he'll be fine. He comes across as desperate to impress and desperate to score currently. Seems determined to get his head down and run with it and get a shot off every time he can rather than passing to teammates. He'll be very good once he's back to full fitness and has a couple of goals under his belt.

I do wonder if he'd be any use at LWB. His ball carrying ability is his main strength and he's not afraid to tackle so could do well there. This would get him in the team and leave space at 10 for Mount or Bruno.

All of these top players were largely playing in teams that would have loads of counter attacking opportunities though, Mbuemo is suffering from the same problem, Wolves weren’t expected to dominate possession for 90 minutes, it’s going to take him time to adapt, and he’ll either sink or swim…as good as he is, I just think we’re targeting the wrong players tbh

I have the same concerns but a player like him is ideal for those wider 10 spots. I think, he is the best dribbler we have since he has more strength compared to Amad. A player like him, who we could play the ball to even under pressure or in tighter spaces is very important. He is too overeager, I agree and he has to adjust but when he does, he is really well suited to the role since he can create danger in so many different ways. He should play with Mount, not instead. Its Mbeumo who doesn't really suit the role if you ask me. If Amad can play wingback, Mbeumo should be able to do as well. From my understanding of Sporting, Amorim switched his 10 players depending on the match and how he wanted to play - if he wanted them to play wider than he added more of a winger type, if he wanted them to play more narrow he played more of a 10 type. I think Mbeumo looks like a winger mostly. I think he likes to be wide more than being narrow.

The calls for him to play LWB are interesting. I'm not sure of how much of Dalot and Dorgu I can take!

If he got into the amount of attacking positions that Dorgu does, you have to think his extra quality would create far more goals for us.

Here on Caf there was lots of suggestions about changing players positions. Most famous were Lindelof and Lisandro on dmc and McT on striker but trying 70 mil worth no10 (who we bought 2 months ago) on wing back beats it all.

You do realize that wing back must play defence too? And go up and down the pitch 90 minutes? Imagine player like Cunha (who was on top of the table last year regarding "walking time during the game" stat) on that position.

Odd to see the pelters he’s getting here. Was at the game today and thought he looked top when he came on. Think he’ll be just fine

Well, if Amad can play wing back on the other side, it's hardly that outlandish an idea! Worth at least trying it for 45 minutes rather than watch Dalot/Dorgu stinking the joint out again and butchering all our attacks on the left hand side!

Fantastic player. The goals will come.

We also need to remember he's been injured, which is likely why after seeing he wasn't quite ready v Brentford, Amorim is bringing him back more gradually, which is the correct approach.

He has one thing the rest of the team is missing: the ability to turn with the ball and dribble (and dance) through players serially like giggs did.

Weird takes in this thread. He had a really good start until the injury. Hes working back from the injury…came on today and gave us back some threat. Our players do this stupid thing at 2-0 where they think they are ‘professional’ and managing the game by slowing everything down…but we aren’t capable of doing it effectively.

Until Cunha came on it was like we were waiting for them to score.

I think Mount provides more balanced to our midfield Bruno and Casemiro than Cunha as L10. If we have someome like Anderson and Baleba partnership, Cunha would have been perfect. But regardless, Cunha’s signing is necessary because Mount is injury prone and he is also a better striker and no 10 than Zirkzee. Cunha will play important role with us because his technique and ball carrying ability are important for us and threats for opposition defenders.

He’s played 4, come off the bench twice and missed one game.

It’s alittle bit early to be assessing his impact in a new team and attack.

Thought the same on your second point. It’s weird really, I’ve seen us defend really well when under pressure but it irritates the feck out of me when we start this dopey passing back and sideways unnecessarily. I get that they think the oppo will come forward and leave gaps, but they won’t the way Maguire, Shaw and Dalot go about it

Absolutely. He appears to be trying too hard.

Hope is once he bags one or two, he can calm down and focus less on individual dribbling and shooting.

But he does look like he oozes class.

Was pissed when Mbuemo messed up an easy chance to play him in. So typical of our attack and the execution of the final ball
The pass there was Amad. Amad may have ended up squaring to Cunha for an easy chance...

It's actually typical of our team , dare I say it's just not restricted to final third we simply don't make right pass more often than not whether it's the coaching issue or lack of IQ I just don't get it .
