He’s so much better than Tévez technically, and miles stronger. Tévez had an incredible work rate but didn’t have the dribbling ability or close control of Cunha. Cunha has this ability to bull doze his way through people, but he can also play so gracefully with the softest of touches. Just a really rare player. I’m trying to think of a player he reminds me of and none are coming to mind yet.

It is rare to have a player with his physicality and strength also have his touch and technique but who then plays in this languid style... And today he worked his socks off too.

Look at the way he is talking. He totally wants to be there, he know what it means and he’ll give it his all on the pitch. The upgrade from whatever we had last season is unreal especially from a character perspective

Him and Mbeumo might turn out to be the signings who defined our turnaround.
Great footballers, great effort, and hopefully a lot more goals to come.

Indeed. I think we should buy more players in the same age profile, players in their peak around 26 yo, instead of buying younger, unfulfilled potential. We need to produce high quality academy players as well, of course.

Personality is more important than age. That's arguably the biggest weakness we've had. Look at Rashford. He was at that peak age, but he was arguably one of the biggest problems we had. That's why replacing him and Garnacho with players that want to be here, want to fight and want to work hard is already reaping benefits.

The fact they have more technical ability than their predecessors doesn't hurt either, mind.

Bit of Dwight York about him. Probably quicker than York but not as good in the air.

You can see he’s rounding into form and being settled at his new club. Everything is getting tighter and crisper about his game and the crusts cut off. Think it’s apparent he’ll go on run of form tear up and get better and better within that framing.

It’s been a very, very long time since we’ve had someone who the ball can be played up to and have it stick so much so others can be assured enough to make runs off of. In fact, it would be a thread on here to ask who was the last player we had who could do that.

He’s going to prove to be an invaluable asset with a unique skillset that we’ll steadily become accustomed to - he’s absolutely custom-made for a AM-Str relationship/partnership, too, so once Sesko gets with the program, expect some wonderful link ups and combination play and some really spectacular goals.

At his best, he stops time for the team, and as we get used to that, we’re going to get much better with the runs off him.

The type of player I would be willing to pay ticket to see his play. He brings the flair and excitement of football back to the stadium. Haven't seen such after Pogba left.

We really need to get him a better partner on the left. Ait Nouri gave him a lot of support at Wolves but at United our leftwing back is a non entity when its Dalot and Dorgu is a poor passer. Teams are gonna double up on him and make his job even harder.

Do that and Amad and Mbeumo will roam free.

Oh my days. Only 12 months back we were starting Garnacho and Rashford in the wide areas.

Night and day

Totally agree, a massive upgrades to two players who have the determination and desire to want to drag United to wins.

Zidane perhaps

Idk about being stronger than Tevez, though his technique is more consistent. I'd say Cunha reminds me most of Rooney. More flair with the tricks, bit less all around quality and aggression but generally very similar in the areas they take up, the way they play, their impact on games, how they always seem out the ball and get involved, and just chaotically make things happen. Can drive with it, can slow it down, defends well, can score, create, or have a MotM performance without getting a goal or assist.

I think Rooney is a lot more like mbeumo, Cunha is closer to Ronaldo than Rooney.

I dunno, Mbeumo is the final 3rd player getting most of his touches around the back line of the opposition and being in the end of things, while Cunha is the guy dropping deep, dominating touches and doing a bit of everything. Mbeumo does play with more of the simple effectiveness of doing everything well like Rooney did (and probably the thicker body type like Rooneys) while Cunha has more flair like Ronaldo, but the areas they take up on the pitch i'd definitely compare Cunha to Rooney and Mbeumo to someone like Salah.

Mbuemo is likely going to be a more consistent provider of goals. But Cunha is THE one. We needed characters like him and the energy and quality he brings to the pitch is incredible. What a signing.

Yea I agree with this, I was just thinking about their style on the ball.

Kadioglu would be great upgrade on Dalot covering both wingback roles. Great touch and engine. Unlike Dorgu or Dalot who can take time to hit top speed and many lose touches.

Happy for Cunha though. he seems such a nice guy and goal will give him some breather, but he doesn't need to be the guy who scores goals, he will create a lot and make us much better in transition. So no pressure on goals.

I cna be slightly critical of him not releasing the ball earlier on couple of occasions we are through on goal, but it's just great we have another unpredictable player who can create on its own.

"I joked with Bryan [Mbeumo] and [Benjamin] Sesko, I told them I need to have this feeling [scoring], I felt so anxious to be a part of this and when I scored they said 'look you can enjoy it now.' All the day the support for my team-mates, I feel so good to be part of this."
:)

Not at the same level obviously, but hes reminding me of Kaka in how he dribbles.

Its the passion and pride to play for United that is what I think is great to see. He's obviously a quality footballer but his love for the club already is what we need from players.

Imagine if we add Semenyo next season with Cunha and Mbeumo to our attack, it’ll be absolute mint

It's a nice idea, but where's he going to play in our system? As a left wing back? I doubt he's interested. He can't play as a left winger / forward in our team. We already have Cunha in a similar position.

Great shout in many ways. Has the ever present smile too. He’s more of a bulldozer than Yorke, but otherwise I like this comparison.
Zidane perhaps
That was one that sprung to mind. Especially early Zidane who was quite a workhorse at Bordeaux and then at Juve.

I thought Rooney too in some ways.

Heard that said before and it’s genuinely not a bad comparison in terms of style.

There’s something languid about him that makes me think Berbatov, the way he uses technique instead of raw power. But then he just has these moments when it’s impossible to get the ball off him and he uses pure strength, like Drogba, to power his way past people.

He’s a rare gem and it’s fecking miraculous we have him. How he didn’t end up getting scooped up before this is anyone’s guess. I remember we were linked with him a few years ago, when he was maybe 21 or 22. I knew nothing about him and was underwhelmed. Just shows the value of good scouting.

I’ve got mates, and a brother, who are Liverpool supporters and they are texting me - unsolicited - to say what a brilliant player he is. When you’ve got fans of rival teams doing that, you know you’ve got someone special on your hands.

He’s already become my favourite current United player for what he does on the pitch, but his post match interview makes me love him even more. His character and attitude is exactly what we need at this club. Him and Mbeumo are going to be massive signings for us.

Of course he'd be interested. It's Manchester United.

Sure - everyone will take our call. But I'm not sure he'll be interested in changing positions. Not when Liverpool offer him a chance to replace Mo Salah, or his boyhood team Arsenal come calling after Tottenham show interest.

But hey -- I hope i'm proven wrong. I think playing Amad at right wing back and Semenyo as left wing back makes us a very attacking side. Perhaps a little fragile defensively though...
