He looks shit but then again so do most in this system. The worrying thing is its not obvious how he would fit into a 433 or 4231 given that 10 position is meant to be his ideal position
In a 4 2 3 1 he would be in the central 10, with mbeumo/amad to his right, mount or a new signing like semenyo to his left and sesko upfront. I know some would say Bruno but its probably his time to go in the summer

Worrying thing is his last big move to Atletico was similar in struggle.

Getting big fish in small pond vibes with this one.

I thought he was supposed to have a bit of fire in his belly which was badly missing from this team? So far this season, most of his performances he's looked like he's on sedatives.

I think he's had 3 good performances that I can recall (Arsenal, Brighton, Liverpool). He needs to start getting his head out of his arse and start producing some performances.

Probably trying too hard at the moment. Will take a while for him to strike up connections.

I said this before he joined. Awkward stylistic fits when we have a new manager.

What attributes does he have for that role? He’s not a clever passer. I don’t think he is anyway, it’s rare to see him try. He has a long shot on him and that’s about it. The only other thing he excels at is running from deep. That’s useless in that position.

Out ability to pay big bucks for (on paper and previous merits) good/high performing players only for them to turn out into shit is out of this world.

This one is slowly starting to look like another mishit.

The issue is that the teams just full of so many sloppy players:

Cunha
Bruno
Casemiro
Mbuemo

All have zero appreciation for just keeping the ball. You can maybe tolerate 2 of them in a team, but 4 on the pitch together just means you'll never be able to control a game.

The whole team has this issue, we couldn’t keep it if our lives depended on it. Add in Dorgu, Dalot, and any of Sesko and Zirkzee and that 2/3rds of a team giving the ball away more often than not.

Think I said it about 10yrs ago, if we could ever train the team to actually pass the ball to each other we’d be a hell of a team. Still holds today.

Add Gerrard and Rooney to that lineup and we have the perfect lineup of Hollywood passers.

There were numerous clips, videos, analyses and Wolves fans opinions which all pointed on this what we are watching so far. Patchy player who is not involved in play unless he is the one who is centre of those plays.
People were saying all sorts about the Wolves fans who warned us.

Even at Wolves he could be very inconsistent

He could literally have a few 9/10 matches followed by several 2/10 ones.

Im not sure how suited he is to Amorims version of this system - he is better playing closer to the striker rather than so far wide.

I think he will eventually turn out good, terrible start so far, the reason why players who come from lower teams struggle when they eventually go to a bigger team is because they don’t see the ball as much as they did before , at wolves damn near every attack went through him and while it showcases his ability it also overhype’s it.

When playing for a club with players just as you every attack will be “ shared “ out ( so to speak).
I said the same thing about Jack Grealish, certain players are used to being the main focal point when the talent around them are not as good and when they arrive at a big club it takes time for them to adjust sharing the creative duties.

I do forget he's on the pitch at times. He really does do a good varnishing act. That said, when he's involved in the game he's good. He just needs more of the ball and to be closer to the goal. I just can't work out when he's so rarely involved in our play.

Glad we've stopped with the maverick gimmick as it was just covering up that he was being selfish and it was the same tonight.

He was the signing I was least happy about.

He wasn’t good but he wasn’t as bad as Mbeumo.
I think it’s a contrast in styles but with Mbeumo and Amad, they RUN and challenge players and to me they’re involved in the game even when not playing well whereas Cunha seems to just disappear from matches. He was far more ineffectual than Mbeumo.

It’s not a lack of effort and you can tell he’s upset by how it’s going for him but he’s struggling big time.

Hope the wolves game is a turning point.

A big game player who was my MotM for the Arsenal and Liverpool games. However, he's had more anonymous games than influential appearances since he joined. I was hoping for more consistency from a 26 year old with Premier League experience.

Overall he is has been disappointing. Moments here and there but more hype than substance.

He was supposed to be close to Zirkzee in the penalty box, instead, he was hugging the line like a wide winger. Dalot was taking up more dangerous positions than he was. He was out of the box many times when Amad was getting ready to cross.

that is the thing with us for years esp with Bruno as the focal point to get the attack going. He is a world class player and with all the attributes he has, he just cant/dont want to control the tempo. When he slows down, it is too slow that it looks like everyones on the pitch starts to get complacent and get sloppy. It just the midfield cant keep the ball. We get a bit of pace now but there just no one running the channel and when they do, the others are way down that cannot come to joint the attack. There were a few occasions that Zirkzee was trying to run behind but the players just didnt try the through behind. Ita just always off with our players.

I wish he was inconsistent for us.

We need to start getting him isolated with the full back. I've barely see him in that position.

he has to keep it simple, stretch defences and make runs like Mbeumo, he should stop droping too deep or occupying areas far from the goal.

So far not good at all, but it's too early to pass judgement.

Mbuemo is not sloppy?! He's tidy AF

He’s not had the ideal start…it’s not ideal getting injured in your third game. Finding your way back to fitness through constant international breaks before getting injured again.

Let’s see how he goes from now until March/April. He’s been sensational in some of our biggest games.

Yeh, not an ideal start so far. Just 1 goal, 0 assits and a lot more poor performances than good ones.

You'll get Dorgu/Dalot in those positions and you'll love it. I saw it phrased in a funny way on X, where other teams get Trossard Kvara Leao Doku etc out wide for maximum impact we've got Patrick Dorgu trying to create in those same positions. Not finding it funny recently.

Been no upgrade on Garnacho or Rashford so far, apart from his game vs Liverpool and Arsenal where he held the ball wel. Has to improve and improve quickly.

He has been an upgrade due to his higher work ethic and he brings more athleticism. On the ball though, he's very limited.

The problem is he's gone from a team where opponents afford a lot of space to United where most teams sit back. It impacts most players.

I want him shooting from range a bit more, we know he's got it in his locker and against a deep defence it tends to be the best option.

The more structural issue is we rarely do a direct ball to the 10s that allows them to get in behind. We tried it occasionally yesterday but it was mainly to Mbeumo. Martinez back hopefully means we start playing those through balls down the left channel again.

Higher work ethic and more athleticism but in other departmens he has been inferior so far. I am quite a big fan of him, but he offers almost no attacking threat so far.

It is true, but we were desperate for that work rate and athleticism, so I think it does help, hes just very limited.

He's been better than what Garnacho showed last season (low bar, but still.) A fully-motivated Rashford is a different proposition, but we hadn't seen that for a few years.
