Matheus Cunha - Manchester United Player | Official: #10

We really need this guy to hit the ground running for us, if we get him at his best he will be excellent for us.

Haven’t been more excited about a signing for years. Things might not work out of course, but he is everything we have been missing with the added bonus of playing in the Premier League and the system we play in.

Different scenarios yes, but Bruno's second yellows, especially the cards he received v Wolves away where equally born out of frustration and very much avoidable. Bruno gets sent off at 0-0 with nearly a full half left and we go on to lose the game.

I see no issue with Cunha's "temperament". About time we had some players with some fire and desire to win, rather than the "im so sorry to the all the fans" bunch that we have now.

You should take this to the Cunha thread as you seem to have an issue with both Cunha and Mbeumo. Keep your beefs separate.
Taken to the Cunha thread as requested.

That "desire to win" will be to the detriment of the team's ability to win matches if he continues to lose his head on the pitch by headbutting people and swinging elbows. If it was a case where he had reigned in his aggression over the past 2 or 3 years, then I wouldn't be as concerned, but we're signing him off the back of a season where he's had 2 incidents of serious ill-discipline.

And don't worry - I'm sure there'll be plenty of "I'm sorry to the fans" comments from him, just like every other member of our squad. You do realise that aggression on the pitch and apologetic post-match comments aren't mutually exclusive, right?

If he performs like he did for Wolves the past two seasons, i don't care if he gets a red card or two. I really don't. I never had an issue with Rooney, Keane or Cantona playing like this. Did you?

What im not cool with is the consistent underperformers in our team making the same old tired apologies.

I would rather see anger and frustration from a player like Cunha than a wet apology from Luke Shaw after another sh1t performance.

What about if he got a 6 match ban for headbutting, choking and swinging elbows at opposition players/staff members? There comes a point where that kind of head loss is unacceptable at Man United in 2025 where there's much scrutiny around the club.

I only caught the tail-end of Keane's career so I can't comment on his on-field behaviour too much, but I loved Rooney's aggression during the early years of his United career. However, as football continued evolving into less of a contact-heavy sport, Rooney also developed into a more mature footballer from around 2010 onwards, and I'm pretty sure he received fewer red cards during the second half of his United career.

You would have had a fit seeing Cantona or Keane in a United shirt then.
Different eras to the reality we're living in now. Stick Cantona and Keane into a team in 2025, in an era of VAR and less contact on the pitch, and I reckon they'd be smart enough to channel their aggression in less detrimental manner. Or are we genuinely okay with the possibility of one our current players fighting Bournemouth and Everton players and staff because it shows 'passion'? I'm sure that will do wonders to rebuilding an already brittle environment at the club.

That has not happened though, so all hypothetical.

What we do know is that United stood by Eric when he did much worse and was out for a much longer period of time.

We were a much better club in the days when the manager, club, players and fans would rally round a player, rather than trash them. Be it Cantona, Beckham, Keane or whoever. United V The World.

You are free to make a stink about Cunha if and when he loses his head a gets a ban. The scaremongering before hand is silly.

I believe he will learn to curb it a little now at United and under more of a spotlight. But we will see.

First time trying. To the rhythm of Leonard Cohens Hallelujah.

He came from Wolves, a Red Devil now, With pace and power, take a bow. Tearing apart defences, he makes his run,
Our new number ten,
best under the sun.

(Chorus) Matheus Cunha! Matheus Cunha! Scoring goals, Matheusss Cunnnnnnhaa!

Maybe try again.

Just use the English kids version of the Macarena:

One and a Two and Three, Matheus Cunha
Four and a Five and Six, Matheus Cunha,
Seven and a Eight and Nine, Matheus Cunha,
Ayyyyyyyyy Matheus Cunha!

Good bye Marcus. And this is after news of him "ready" to give 100% in training, no?
Ouch

 I hope Cunha is sat naked in Marcus' space in the training ground dressing room on Monday and just stares him in the eye before saying "Look at me, I am the No.10 now"

Why the feck would he be naked? What version of Captain Phillips did you watch?

First meeting....ok Matheus how many players can you carry on your back? Bruno isn't reporting for another week soooo lets start with the front 6?

Good Luck Cunha x

To She Bangs the Drums by Stone Roses:

Have you seen him, have you heard?
Comes from Brazil, there are no words
To describe our biggest steal
To have a player at the club
Who gave Arsenal the big snub
To describe the way it feels
The boy’s unreal

Have you seen him take them on?
He’ll dance the samba all night long
Cunha is the real deal
He’ll take us to first, they’ll be outclassed
Carry us to glories past
To describe the way it feels
The way it feels

Cunha, he has a beard on his head
Mbeumo, he has a beard on his beard
ManUnited, play like Moyesey' boys

I don't like him being given no10 while rashford is still here and looking for a club.

Surely proper awkward seeing as Rashford showed up to training. Imagine if he stays now losing his #10 shirt

Maybe that wouldn't have happened if he showed a little effort for the past 3 years.

Or maybe he should have put a bit of effort in finding a club/reducing his demands since his uneventful loan at Villa, or maybe done a bit better during the loan even.

This is all on Rashford.
