We like pace.

We also really like Matias and Fernandez and different versions of those names.

Probably a filter our scouts use.

Ha, I was just about to post him in another thread. With all the numbers being bandied about for forwards, he might be a good investment.

35.76km/h top speed in Europa League last season. Fast and versatile, likely for a cheap price. Exactly the profile I'd expect us to target in the striker/lw position this season. I'd imagine it's a largely data-focused potential signing like Lammens was. Much prefer this to Rogers or especially Ndiaye.

He's not going to be cheap wherever he goes

Why? He's playing for Lille. All French teams not named PSG are skint.

Rayan Cherki who was far higher regarded moved to City for less than £35m for comparison

We paid £52m + bonuses for Yoro from the same club
Because Real Madrid wanted him. That is not the norm. Rayan Cherki who was far higher rated moved to City for less than £35m just a year ago

Lille are not Lyon. Lyon were fecked because of Textor.

Lille sold a relatively average Diakite to Bournemouth for €35m last summer and Chevalier to PSG €40m. They don't sell cheap.

Thanks for giving us such optimism

€40m isn't cheap for you? Ndiaye would probably cost £60m+ for a relatively good and less versatile 26 year old winger. I'd be pretty happy getting Pardo for less than €40m given he's 21 and can fill in both up front and on the wings. He's also not considered a player at the level of Yoro who was looked at as potentially the best young cb in the world when we signed him (hence Real's interest). Pardo is not looked at that way. Looking at transfermarkt as a comparison, his value is set at €35m, whereas Yoro before joining us had a value of €50m. That gives a rough idea of their relative reputations at the time. They're really not comparable at all aside from them both being players for Lille.

Lyon were in a far worse financial position than Lille, facing the threat of relegation if they didn’t sort out finances, and he had extended his contract the summer before (was going into the final year) with the understanding that they would let him go at a reasonable price the following summer. His obvious talent plus the well publicized fact that he would be let go for a fee well below his market value are why a ton of us wanted United to go for him.

I bet all the youtubers who make the 'Player X, welcome to team Y' videos are now in a mad scramble to cash in on this new link

No clue who he is but this is the type of player we should be looking at if we’re signing a LW; someone who won’t demand to start every game and not cost an arm and a leg. All for it.

Know literally zero about him, but I'm sufficiently not-keen on either Rogers or Nidaye to be open to alternatives from outside the league.

I do beg his Pardo, but I also know nothing about him.

Absolutely zero chance he moves for less than 40m euros. Can guarantee you that.

So we are gonna end up priced out then unless we of course decide to pass on signing LB like Hall

€40m would be yeah but there's no chance he's going for that

We need a fourth forward in our squad. A profile and talent big enough to be starting, but has to fight for that spot.

Dorgu. Amad and a player like Pardo can only be 5th and 6th.

If Dorgu is a forward, then we have a 5th and 6th. We need a fourth forward.

If we get Pardo, our second forward line will be - Dorgu, Pardon, Amad. This will make us good for 6th-8th, not for top 5.

I've seen a bit of him and he looks a decent player, I wouldn't mind it.

Even so, Lille aren't in a healthy financial position either. Chevalier had a terrible season at PSG but he was viewed as one of the better goalkeepers in the league when PSG signed him, and he was young, so going for €40m (£34m) really isn't that outrageous without the benefit of hindsight. An equivalent standard goalkeeper of a similar age in the Premier League would likely cost £55m+

Yoro is a clear outlier here. If you go back to the prior season they sold Baleba for just €27m. The season before that they sold 2 of their most important players and 2 of the best players in the entire Ligue 1 at the time in Amadou Onana and Sven Botman for €40m and €37m respectively. These sort of fees aren't high for Utd and I don't know who you realistically think we could target in these positions who would be cheaper and fit the profile of player we're looking for.

Blimey didn't take long for someone to criticise it

Well Yoro is the only player they've sold for over €40m since Osimhen in 2020 (already viewed as one of the best strikers in the world at the time), so I'd be surprised if it was much north of that. Bear in mind Ligue 1 as a whole are far weaker financially now than they were 4 years ago due their commerical and tv rights entering crisis mode. Just type in ligue 1 financial crisis and you'll find plenty articles from the last year or 2 explaining the issue in more detail. Each year is getting worse, not better, and with that their bargaining power gets weaker too.

I like him.

Would be perfect alongside Mateus Fernandes, Bruno Fernandes and Bruno Guimaraes.

2 mins into his highlight reel. Do not want. He looks totally chaotic even at his supposed best. Maybe that's the point but his technique leaves a lot to be desired. You could see it with Dorgus strength and this guy is also rapid but it's a hard no from me

Agent will be looking for a lower PL club to take a punt on him most likely by linking him to us

Fernandez-Pardo is a genuinely intriguing profile. I’m quite familiar with him, having followed his development closely since his time at AA Gent. Over the past few seasons, he has shown rapid and consistent progression, which is particularly encouraging given his young age.

From a tactical perspective, his versatility stands out. His natural position is on the left wing, where he can exploit space, attack defenders 1v1, and cut inside. However, he has recently been deployed as a central striker at Lille, where he’s currently in strong form. In addition, he has the capacity to operate on the right flank if required, which adds valuable flexibility in a modern attacking setup.

Physically, he combines pace and explosiveness with good intensity levels. He’s capable of stretching defensive lines and attacking depth, while also contributing significantly without the ball. His pressing is proactive and disciplined, and he shows a strong willingness to work for the team defensively, something that aligns well with high-intensity systems.

In possession, he remains composed and shows good situational awareness. He makes intelligent runs, times his movements well, and has a natural instinct for goal, as reflected in his ability to find scoring positions consistently.

That said, he is not yet a finished product. There are still areas of his game that can be refined, particularly in terms of decision-making in the final third and overall consistency. However, his ceiling is high, and his development trajectory suggests significant upside.

Overall, he represents a high-potential, multi-functional attacking option. For a club like Manchester United, he would be an investment in both depth and future development rather than an immediate, polished solution but one with clear long-term value.

So he is also being written off already then

I'm aware as I follow Ligue 1. Osimhen was 6 years ago, inflation in transfers is rife. Bakwa went to forest for 35. I just don't see him leaving for anything less than 50m euros.

Dude, we are linked with about 20 players every window, we sign a couple. I don't like the look of this guy. If he comes in and gives it his all I'll support him like I do every other player. I just don't see anything special in him and I wouldn't be keen on spending 30-40 million on him

I thought Dorgu and Lammens looked like solid punts for the PL. I just don't see it with this particular link

We’re not going to spend the 80m or more it would take to sign the likes of N’Diaye, Rogers or Diomande as too much money will have to be spent elsewhere.

Feenandez-Pardo has a lot of potential and he would inject some pace into the attack so don’t see the issue with bringing in him or another younger player.
