I know but I mean the decision to renew or not is not on him. We can criticise him for poorly negotiated contracts but the bad decisions to renew the likes of Mata and Jones is on someone else ( likely Ole + woody ).
I don't think you understand what we are saying.
If my boss told me to re-negotiate Pogba's contract and I offered him £400kpw, I should be fired! Why? Because I could not get a slightly above average player to renew a contract without offering to make him one of the highest paid players on the planet. This isn't Ronaldo or Messi, this is Pogba.
Same for P.Jones. If I were negotiating the contract, I'd tell him straight - you rarely play due to injury so you either sign this (pay as you play) contract or you can speak to other clubs.
We have paid so much money to our players that when it comes to selling them, we can't because no club is prepared to match the wages the player is currently on (at MUFC).
When buying new players, we also seem to offer them horrendously high wages. Same for managers. If a manager will join us for say £1M/year, why the hell would you offer him £2M/year. It makes no sense, but that's what we do.

Woodward and Judge both needed to go.
I'd also ask questions about the role Fletcher has. What qualifications does he have as Sporting Director and also Assistant Manager (as he seems to be).

Great to see we are getting rid of the Specialist Failures in Judge and Woodward.

Other than the Glazers leaving it's as good as we could hope.

Looks like maybe Arnold will leave the running of the club to football people.

All these changes are well and good but I’ve got grave concerns about who is going to secure our next spicy wonton contract!

yeah I understand all that and I agree it’s shite but he didn’t decide to renew them, that’s all I’m saying

Judge doesn't decide who gets a new contract, or what transfer fee is paid, Woodward did, with the Glazers 'blessings, once Woodward approves the decision, then Judge's task is to go and negotiate terms, and it is also Woodward who decided the extent of these terms, even in transfer fees, it was Woodward who decided those.

Judge was basically an employee working at the behest of his employer, he is a banker who has zero to limited football knowledge, and probably limited connections (Clubs & Agents) to negotiate transfers and contracts, he added no value in his work and its good news to see him leave.

Hopefully he is replaced by a competent professional who is well versed in the football market and is able to get the best deals for the club.

Head of Corporate Development? Job titles are pretty vague to begin with and rarely justify what people do, but he was in charge of negotiations.

Either way, this guy from what has been said about his role in transfers...he was not good.

It's a clear out...Woodward, gone. Judge, he's been served. The chief scouts, gone.
I think that goes from the top to the bottom of the club. Nobody knew really what they were supposed to do. From owners to players. You even got former player somehow taking seat as staff member with me not even knowing what he is even doing or supposed to do.

It is nice to see things moving. Moving fast to. Hoppefully in the summer we will get a clear organisation.

I’m guessing Judge was a source for Whitwell or something? Otherwise how would it be a bad thing?

So he negotiatied ETH's contract, and? Why would ETH give a shit about Matt Judge.

Wasn't this the clown that used to step into player negotiations not knowing who the players were and such and shocking the players agents'

Probably for better. With how much we paid in transfer fees and wages, doubt he has been doing a good job.

Evra had a go at this guy at one point, if I remember rightly. Either way, so happy to see we are finally clearing house.

thoughts @Adnan?

Seems promising?
Murtough's paving the way for his own people by moving on people who were brought to the club by other people. He's going to do things his way and bring in his own people in to do the job. He's been making decisions like these for almost 20 years and the shakeup is not a surprise for me.

He did similar as the head of development for the youth team but didn't have the remit to make changes at first team level until recently. And even at Youth level he pushed a couple of people out, which didn't go down well with certain people.

Thank God we will have someone else negotiating transfers for us now. Ed Woodward’s college buddy is now gone.

He's had so many failures but deserves it just for that last one Bruno contract.
Not really. It was literally a one year contract extension with a deserved pay-rise, which was approved by ETH during talks with him.

The rumoured 500k contract offered to Pogba since last year on the other hand...

Fantastic news!

The ridiculous transfer fees and wages we pay is down to this clown. Good riddance
Yes. We maybe had an inkling that the people at the top didn't know what they were doing after Phil "plays 10-20 games a season and scores at least 3 own goals in those" Jones got given fifty grand a fecking week. No offence to him because he could have been a great footballer, but what the hell sort of show were we running.

The main article..

Matt Judge has resigned from his position as Manchester United’s director of football negotiations, The Athletic can reveal.

It is believed that Judge is currently working out a notice period prior to an expected departure later this year. He is not expected to play an active role in the summer transfer window.

Judge is thought to have been considering his position in recent weeks amid a series of structural changes at Old Trafford, including the departure of executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

Sources say his departure was amicable between both parties.

Judge was responsible for negotiating transfers and contracts for Manchester United.

He had been involved in United’s transfer business since the summer of 2014.

Judge had previously been described by former manager Louis van Gaal as Woodward’s “right hand” and has long been one of the most influential figures at the Premier League club.

His exit comes after The Athletic broke the news that chief scout Jim Lawlor and head of global scouting Marcel Bout were also exiting Old Trafford.

United are currently undergoing a backroom reshuffle.

John Murtough, who had worked closely with Judge, now has strategic leadership of football recruitment at the club.

He will be supported by the club’s recruitment and legal teams as the off-pitch changes continue.

Key to those changes will be the appointment of Erik ten Hag, who was appointed as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s permanent successor earlier this month.

The club still plan for interim manager Ralf Rangnick to move into a consultancy role.

Rangnick was announced as Austria’s next national team manager at a press conference on Friday.
