With our injury record at CB, it honestly feels like we need about 8 players who can play there to get through a season.

The most intense division in the world, and a top heavy, not particularly fast nor mobile center back, scrambling to stop fast and nippy oposition attackers in sprint races, getting niggly/other type of injuries? Color me surprised.
At this rate it will be Maguire, Lindelof and Yoro as our defence in the final as we'll need Mazraoui to play RWB and Dorgu at LWB. Doesn't fill me with confidence as that back 3 is error prone and Dorgu has ended up being a weak link supposed to be bought to fix a weak link and help make the system work. Shaw looks as though he's finished.
Doesn't help that Amorim's system requires 5 defenders when we had enough trouble under Erik fielding a fit back 4.

It's amazing how much ineos have just picked up where woodward and murtough left off. Signing an injury prone centre back lacking in pace for the fee and wages we spent is surely another mistake
It's been 2 freak injuries, so color you wrong. Or is Martinez a top heavy centre back? Or Maguire who's had a pretty exceptional fitness record a small, mobile CB?

Mason Mount is the exact opposite of thr player you described, as is Amad… have they coloured you surprised with their injury issues also? How about Mainoo?

Heaven lasted what? 2 games and injured himself at the back post trying to stop a nippy Premier League player.
If even Yoro and Heaven got injured, we gotta ask ourselves…. Is anyone safe from these fast nippy PL players?

I’m chalking up Shaws poor form to rustiness. We’ve seen it before and performances usually tend to improve and stabilise if he’s able to stay off the treatment table for more than a month. Assuming he stays fit, and finds his form, that defence of Yoro/Maguire/Shaw is probably our best lineup.
Couple of big “ifs” in that statement though.
It was a daft signing but we are unlucky with injuries.
Wouldnt expect you of all posters to come back with the defence of already injury prone centre-back before his move to United.
Mason Mount signed his United contract literally from his hospital bed recovering from an operation on a 50/50 career ending injury.
Yoro had a freak metatarsal break, hasnt suffered from a non contact (muscle) problem since as he is a proper athlete covering large spaces runnin´ in fult pelt.
Heaven got an impact injury - he, like Yoro, looks tailormade for the nuances of this most intense league around.
Maguire is robust but some niggless are already creeping in at his age.
Shaw is top heavy as well, just look how thats helped him in the game and his injury record.
Martinez is not built up for a proper central PL defender, some of his injuries were him making up for physicall shortcomings overstreching.
van Dijk was a mentally deranged iidiotic ´keeper trying to kick VVDs knee out of Goodison.
Im not really sure what are you trying to prove here mate. Mat de Ligt has been injury suspect long before coming to United. Tall and big, imobile for fast nature of PL, now also playing in a system covering huge spaces in defensive transitions, even with a percieved help of another 4 defenders and two holding mids infront of them.
Are you really surprised he is bound to get injured like last night? Might have been an another "freak injury" if you will but the conditions for that to happen have been there for all to see since (edit: way before) he signed for United.

I’m showing you that all our defenders have sustained injuries, and I’m not sure what you’re trying to prove considering De Ligt has played 42 fecking games man.
I dunno, it’s kinda like you’ve been desperate for him to get a couple of injuries so you could you know, quickly jump in to pretend you ”knew it”, despite him well, playing 42 fecking games.

Ffs. Like many others have pointed out , he's been available for the vast majority of the season. An on field injury hardly suggests an injury prone player
You can but you definitely shouldn't, especially if your livelihood depends on it. And also not so soon after.
You can walk, but any twist or slip and you're in trouble. Not a risk I imagine he should/would take.
This is a great forum but people with really strong opinions rarely change them. They just wait in that long grass ignoring all the data that counters them and magically appear for a what they think is a gotcha.
Yeah the club letting him leave without crutches is a positive that the early drawer tests they would've done would say that his ligaments were fine.

We know you set your stall out last Summer, and are refusing to change, almost desperate for him to get a nasty injury for your ”gotcha” moment.

I just don't think he is the best player we could have got in that position and we are paying him quite significant wages. I have seen nothing to change my mind so far
Looking at his thread here, the majority of the forum disagree with many stating him to be one of very few to come out of this season with real credit.

You’d gone missing since December in this thread whilst the likes of Scholes were backpedaling and fans were pretty unanimous in praise for De Ligt.

Yeah I saw someone post the other day how if not for INEOS we probably would’ve just panic bought Branthwaite on the last day of the window and I was thinking that didn’t sound too bad actually.

I don't much care what others think. I don't think he has been terrible in the main but we have hardly been solid defensively and I think other players could jave performed better and a faster one could have enabled us to push further up the pitch.

Shame we didn’t hear more about Dalot but having De Ligt back if we make the final is good news.
This means he will have enough to be in contention for the final. So from next week We really need him against Spurs, they have a very tall and physical side, we need him alongside Harry and Yoro to form a strong presence with Casemiro in front, should be enough for crosses and set pieces.
