Weakest of our CBs today. Didnt cost us in the end but for the next match he's probably the one you might trade out for Yoro

Lets Gakpo stay goalside for the Gakpo goal. Just a lack of workrate to get back into the right position. And then was stooping down taking himself out of it when Gakpo has the headed chance. He'll never get an easier headed chance against a defender
He's consistently been our best defender this season by some distance. Two poor involvements should not detract from that.

Man Utd 4:2 Brighton
I love the guy. Such a good and proactive defender. No pointing to others or trying to look fine in defence by not involving. Just going for everything and everyone. He will make mistakes because of such style at times but overall the positives for the team are so much bigger. He is amongst best defenders this season in the league as well so far.

Oh, and getting better with his passing as well.

finding his final form. When he left Ajax this is the player Juve thought they were getting.

A no nonsense defender. Puts on a shift everytime he’s on the pitch. Give it his all during the game. I think he is better in the middle of the back 3 (rather than on the right). Massive player for us

Loved watching him at Ajax and defended him against everyone saying he was a waste of money when we signed him, in hopes more than in full belief that he’d turn his form around and sort out his injuries. Delighted (pun intended) for him and he’s my fav player at the club, you could easily see him fitting into our great teams of the past as well. Carries himself like a Manchester United player

Proper leader. Perfect attitude. Good ball playing too.

He's been mostly excellent this season, much more dominant and more of a leader than he was last year.

Just expect him to have a good game now...not surprised.

Doesn't get the credit from the football panels, but who cares.

Our best teams this was always the case, our most important players going under the radar, don't mind at all.

The (English) football panels prefer Harry Maguire to start games. They arent going to be overly positive about the player that keeps Maguire out of the team.

He's absolutely class and it goes under the radar in the media. He plays a specialist role too, being asked to push up high and make proactive tackles and get on the ball.

He’s been very very good this season. I’ve been scared to say it through some irrational fear of jinxing but it’s just every game now. Even if we’re not completely solid defensively he’s solid every game.
love how aggressive and pro active he is with his defending without being reckless.

He has been brilliant this season. A monster at the back that we did not have since Vidic. And some real leadership skills on top

Warrior! Solid all around. Seems to have improved after divorcing his wife

Love that he seems to have found his place after the so-so stints at Juve and Bayern.

Still young for a CB as well

Bayern fans started a petition to not sell him.. wasn't a so-so stint at all.

He's had a narrative against him for a long time. Was also good at Juve but on monster wages, didnt want to renew his contract and Juve could still get good money for him.

Meh, narrative. Clubs like Juve and Bayern don't sell their stars at a loss.

Even De Ligt himself recently admitted he struggled at Juve. You can hardly deny his star didnt rise as quickly as we thought after leaving Ajax.

Easy to forget he’s still only 26 years old.

He's built for the PL. Tall strong and fast.

Even better that he seems to be level headed and does not hold on to the ball unnecessarily like Maguire used to or dive into challenges like Jones.

What a pair we have in Yoro and MDL
