We play 3 at the back with fast ball playing defenders either side of him in Shaw and Yoro. He's there for the aerial's and the battle with the big man up top, he's perfectly suited to that. He was shaky in the first half but I think him tripping himself up is probably made it seem worse than it was.I have been saying that for a long time even when he had a good game. I give him credit for what he is but I don't think that he fits into the idea of a mobile CB who could step into the midfield and up the tempo. He is a similar player to Maguire - which is not bad at all, just not what will get us to the top.
Apologies - in reading your post again, you shouldn’t have been included with the other poster.I have been saying that for a long time even when he had a good game. Its more than decent. He's been very good. His individual performances are among the best in the league, I don't think there are many defenders cover the space and engage as well as he does.Having a decent season, but he's nto a flawless defender in general. Still though he deserves to start. It should be Shaw- him- Mazroui.
People are quick to rubbish players after a poor half of football. Been our most consistent player this season.
Sometimes it feels like people are just waiting to jump on players.Really weird isn't it, especially considering he's easily been top 3 best players for us this season.
The man slipped, but we dodged the bullet fired our way. But the good news is that De Ligt has set an incredibly high standard.
There's nothing "an incredibly high standard" in our defence.
Shaw has been decent defensively, no? And Yoro = young guy.Framed that way, correct, but MDL has himself performed at a very high level this season, thereby setting an incredibly high standard...but there is no denying that his teammates have not met his standard.
MDL has done well. But no, he had not performed to an ‘incredibly high standard’. If that was the case, how would you rate Gabriel and Saliba? That’s an example of players playing at an incredibly high standard. He’s nowhere near them. They are setting the standard. He’s done well, but your praise iS OTT.Framed that way, correct, but MDL has himself performed at a very high level this season, thereby setting an incredibly high standard...but there is no denying that his teammates have not met his standard.
