Missed terribly today. I'd argue all 4 of their goals could've been prevented with him starting.

We would've won if he was playing today. We need him back asap.

We have dropped at least 4 points due to his absence alone. It could make a difference of having UCL/Europa football or not at the end of the season

Yeah, we really, really need him back. The next few games are very winnable. Maybe bar Villa, but even there I feel we might able to snatch a point or three. We're playing very well at times.
However, the way we're leaking goals at the moment makes winning tight games ten times more difficult.

we miss his and Maguire's experience and aerial abilities at the back

shaw is the old head at the back now..

he needs to step up

His curse continues.
He starts each season in his career with a different manager.

Our season has completely fallen apart since he's been out. Leaking goals left right and center. Hopefully he's back soon...

Back injuries are a bitch. Took me over half a year to "recover" from a couple of minor bulging discs last year. Just lingers on and on and flares up really easily if you aren't careful. We don't know what he has but wouldn't surprise me if it was something like that.

i dont know when he will be back..

the injury he sustained, although it was described as 'minor,' it occurred almost six weeks ago!

it's a shame because up until that point he was our most consistent performer.

Weirdly his last involvement was scoring a last minute goal against Spurs on 22nd November and he hasn't been seen since.

His no nonsense defending and leadership/experience has been badly missed. Can't wait to have him, Mazraoui, Amad and Mbuemo back to fix our hopeless right hand side.

He was really good as middle CB in a back 3. Not sure he is quick and mobile enough when there are only 2 CBs.
However, we do not have alternatives and might spend big on midfielders before getting in new CBs.

To state the obvious, we really miss De Ligt. He sees danger, snuffs it out and find a tidy pass to restart the engine. Of all the injuries and disappearances due to AFCON, the loss of De Ligt is the most devastating to our season.

Is he back?

No. And he last played at the end of November. Ruben said at the time it was a minor issue. But it's his back, I thought lower back for some reason, but I can't find any source for that, so it's not stated anywhere what it actually is. In any case, it's been 6 weeks so it's significant.

His personal life was in the tabloids last summer, so maybe this is all cover for something. But one should not speculate so I'll shut it.

Is he back?

from today's press conference

]quote]Centre-back Matthijs de Ligt remains sidelined, as Carrick confirmed in his pre-match interview with MUTV's Zarah Connolly, following the media briefing.

There is, however, hope the big Dutchman will return to the grass soon.

"We've had a good week really," said Carrick. "Matthijs de Ligt has been carrying a bit of an issue but, hopefully, we'll get him back in some time soon.

"It's been a little bit slower than what they thought previously.[/quote]

Real shame about MDL, hope he comes back without any issues, was doing really well for us.

Because I did not read it correctly :lol::lol:
